  • Full scale durability test in the laboratory is an essential of any fatigue life evaluation of components or structures of the automotive vehicle. Component testing is particularly important in today's highly competitive industries where the design to reduce weight and production costs must be balanced with the necessity to avoid expensive service failure. Generally, hydraulic road simulator is used to carry out the fatigue test and the vibration test. In this paper, the link unit which is able to realize the 3 element forces such as vertical force, lateral force, and longitudinal force that are applied to the road simulator is designed. Also, the designed link is verified with kinematics and inverse-kinematics. From this results, the designed factor satisfied the maximum stroke so that it satisfied the requirements for 3-axial road simulator.

  • Recently, road cutting works are frequently performed to repair aging underground utilities. However, the conventional road pavement cutting equipment in Korea generates a lot of noise and dust, and the development of high performance and eco-friendly equipment is required. This study classifies road cutting work and analyzes its work characteristics before improving road cutting machine. The classification and analysis results of this study will be used for the future productivity analysis and evaluation of road cutter developed.

축광 노면표시의 야간 시인성 평가를 위한 기초 연구 (Night Visibility Evaluation of Phosphorescent Road Line Markings)

  • PURPOSES : In this study, we evaluated changes in the retroreflectivity and luminance of phosphorescent road line markings with changes in glass beads and line marking thickness. METHODS : The color of line markings affects their retroreflectivity. Using a chromaticity test, we conducted the analysis of whether phosphorescent road line markings adhered to the "KS M 6080" standard. Then, we measured the dry retroreflectivity and wet retroreflectivity for various glass bead refractive indices. We conducted wet retroreflectivity test using the EN 1436 standard as the basis. We also conducted luminance tests for different glass bead refractive indices and line marking thicknesses. RESULTS : 1. Phosphorescent road line markings specimens satisfied the "KS M 6080" standard. 2. In dry retroreflectivity test, phosphorescent road line markings sprayed with glass beads satisfied the national police agency standard ($240mcd/(m^2{\cdot}Lux)$). Wet retroreflectivity test results showed that except for one type of No.1 glass beads, phosphorescent road line markings specimens sprayed with glass beads of one type of No.3 and two types of No.1 satisfied the national police agency standard ($100mcd/(m^2{\cdot}Lux)$). 3. Phosphorescent road line markings had higher retroreflectivity than non-phosphorescent road line markings in the dry condition. 4. Phosphorescent road line markings sprayed with glass beads demonstrated improved luminance. Luminance increased with higher glass bead refractive index and with increased line marking thickness. However, when the thickness crossed a certain threshold, phosphorescence ceased to increase; this is a characteristic of the phosphorescence phenomenon. CONCLUSIONS : Visibility across short distances can be ensured when phosphorescent road line markings are sprayed with glass beads, because of the retroreflection phenomenon. It is also possible to ensure far visibility using phosphorescent road line markings.

도로 노면 파손 영상의 다중 분류 심층 신경망 평가를 통한 Backbone Network 선정 기법 (A Selection Method of Backbone Network through Multi-Classification Deep Neural Network Evaluation of Road Surface Damage Images)

  • 최근 들어 인공 지능을 이용한 영상 객체 인식에 대한 연구 및 개발이 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 그 연장선상에서 도로 유지 및 관리 분야에도 관련 연구의 활용도가 크게 향상될 것으로 기대된다. 그 중에서도 특히 도로 노면 파손 객체 인식 (Object Detection) 을 위한 인공 지능모델이 지속적으로 개발되고 있다. 이러한 객체 인식 알고리즘을 개발하려면 우선적으로 특징지도를 생성하는 Backbone Network가 반드시 필요한데, 본 논문에서는 이를 선정하는 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 이를 위해 6,000여 장의 도로 노면 파손 영상 데이터를 확보하고, 근래에 많이 사용되는 4종류의 심층 신경망을 활용하여 성능을 비교한다. 3가지의 성능 평가 방법을 적용하여 심층 신경망의 특징을 분석하고 최적의 심층 신경망을 결정한다. 또한 하이퍼 파라미터의 최적 조율을 통해 성능을 향상시키고, 최종적으로 도로 노면 파손 영상 분류를 위하여 85.9%의 정확도로 수행이 가능한 경량화된 Backbone Network용 심층 신경망을 제안한다.

공간정보를 활용한 산림정책 기반 임도시공 우선지역 선정 연구 (Exploring the Priority Area of Policy-based Forest Road Construction using Spatial Information)

  • 제6차 산림기본계획에서는 목재자급률 제고를 위해 2037년까지 임도밀도를 12.8m ha-1까지 증가시키는 것을 목표로 설정하였으며, 지속적인 임도 증설 계획을 수립하였다. 그러나 우리나라는 급속도로 이루어진 산림복원에 비하여 임도 등의 경영관리기반시설은 미비한 실정이다(2017년 기준 4.8m ha-1). 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 공간정보를 기반으로 현장을 평가하는 효율적 임도설계 방안이 활용되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 산림정책 구현을 위하여 공간정보 기반의 임도시공 우선지역 선정 방법을 제시한다. 먼저, 지형, 임상, 산림재해 등을 고려한 임도시공 우선지역을 파악하였다. 또한, 기존의 도로 및 임도와 연결되는 최적의 임도 경로를 도출하였다. 임도밀도가 낮은 청송군과 포항시 북구를 대상으로 GIS와 다의사결정방법인 MCE를 접목시킨 GIS-MCE 기법을 사용하여 중첩 분석을 진행하였다. 효율적인 임도시공지역 설정을 위해 각 인자별 가중치(cost)를 부여하여 임도시공 적합지에 대한 비용표면(cost surface)을 작성하고 산림시업 우선도를 파악하여 최종적으로 최소비용경로 분석을 통한 임도시공경로를 도출하였다. 분석 결과 포항시 북구보다 청송군이 임도시공이 유리한 지역으로 나타났으며, 산림시업 또한 시급성이 높은 지역으로 나타났다. 가장 시급성이 높은 지역만 고려한 결과 산림시업 예상지가 청송군에 30개, 포항시 북구에 1개로 나타났고, 결과적으로 해당 지역에 임도가 설치될 경우 청송군 내 경제림육성단지 임도밀도가 1.58m ha-1에서 2.55m ha-1까지 증가할 것으로 전망된다. 이번 연구에서 제시한 기법은 산림시업의 시급성을 고려한 평가방법으로 임도시공지역을 선정하고 기존의 도로망 및 임도망과 연계하는 가이드라인을 제공하여 목재자급률을 높이려는 현 정책에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

정밀도로지도를 활용한 차로 이탈 경고장치 평가 방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Evaluation Method of Lane Departure Warning System Using High-precision Maps)

  • 본 연구에서는 정밀도로지도를 활용하여 자동차의 거동 정보와 정밀도로지도의 위치 관계를 계산하여 차로 이탈 경고장치의 성능을 평가하는 방법론을 도출하였다. 한국의 노면 표시 설치에 대한 기준과 차로 이탈 경고장치의 평가 기준에 대한 분석을 하고, 평가 기준에 맞는 정밀도로지도의 구축하고 평가 장치 을 구성하여 제안한 방법론에 대한 시험을 통해 제안한 방법론에 대한 검증을 실시하였다. 정밀도로지도를 활용한 차로 이탈 경고장치의 평가는 정밀도로지도와 정밀차량위치를 이용한 데이터취득, 실시간 데이터 처리 및 이탈 판단 확인 절차 수행만으로 평가가 가능하고 다양한 도로 환경에 적용 가능하다.

Automatic Extraction of Road Network using GDPA (Gradient Direction Profile Algorithm) for Transportation Geographic Analysis

  • Currently, high-resolution satellite imagery such as KOMPSAT and IKONOS has been tentatively utilized to various types of urban engineering problems such as transportation planning, site planning, and utility management. This approach aims at software development and followed applications of remotely sensed imagery to transportation geographic analysis. At first, GDPA (Gradient Direction Profile Algorithm) and main modules in it are overviewed, and newly implemented results under MS visual programming environment are presented with main user interface, input imagery processing, and internal processing steps. Using this software, road network are automatically generated. Furthermore, this road network is used to transportation geographic analysis such as gamma index and road pattern estimation. While, this result, being produced to do-facto format of ESRI-shapefile, is used to several types of road layers to urban/transportation planning problems. In this study, road network using KOMPSAT EOC imagery and IKONOS imagery are directly compared to multiple road layers with NGI digital map with geo-coordinates, as ground truth; furthermore, accuracy evaluation is also carried out through method of computation of commission and omission error at some target area. Conclusively, the results processed in this study is thought to be one of useful cases for further researches and local government application regarding transportation geographic analysis using remotely sensed data sets.

Road Surface Data Collection and Analysis using A2B Communication in Vehicles from Bearings and Deep Learning Research

  • This paper discusses a deep learning-based road surface analysis system that collects data by installing vibration sensors on the 4-axis wheel bearings of a vehicle, analyzes the data, and appropriately classifies the characteristics of the current driving road surface for use in the vehicle's control system. The data used for road surface analysis is real-time large-capacity data, with 48K samples per second, and the A2B protocol, which is used for large-capacity real-time data communication in modern vehicles, was used to collect the data. CAN and CAN-FD commonly used in vehicle communication, are unable to perform real-time road surface analysis due to bandwidth limitations. By using A2B communication, data was collected at a maximum bandwidth for real-time analysis, requiring a minimum of 24K samples/sec for evaluation. Based on the data collected for real-time analysis, performance was assessed using deep learning models such as LSTM, GRU, and RNN. The results showed similar road surface classification performance across all models. It was also observed that the quality of data used during the training process had an impact on the performance of each model.

도로인접성에 따른 육상 풍력자원 잠재량 평가 (Evaluation of Onshore Wind Resource Potential According to the Road Proximity)

  • Wind turbines should generally be installed at a certain distance from a road to ensure passengers' safety. In Korea, there is no clear guidance as the Ministry of Environment first proposed a road setback distance of 400 m in the Onshore Wind Farm Siting Guidelines draft proposed in July 2012, and then modified it to 1.5 times the height of the wind turbine in October of the same year. This study analyzed the dynamic range of onshore wind resource potential according to how the road setback distance is set using the Korea Wind Atlas with 100m spatial resolution made by the Korea Institute of Energy Research, the transportation network of the Ministry of Construction and Transportation, and the forest road network of the Korea Forestry Service. Owing to the geographical characteristics of Korea, where mountainous terrain accounts for 70% of the total territory, the wind resource potential within 1 km from forest roads are estimated to be 14.3 GW, 14% of Korea's total wind resource potential. In addition, the construction distance of new road for transporting wind turbines from the existing road to a wind farm site is estimated as less than 2 km. Given the limited wind resource potential and geographical constraints, an assessment system that can maximize wind resource utilization and ensure road safety at the same time, and which takes into account the regional characteristics instead of applying the fixed road setback distance across-the-road, is required.

자동순항제어기에 의한 안전도 향상 효과 분석 (Evaluation of the Safety impact by Adaptive Cruise Control System)

  • This paper discusses the evaluation of the safety impact of the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system in Korea. To evaluate the safety impact, this paper suggests an analysis method by using the test scenario and field operational test data. The test scenario is composed to represent the main component factor of the ACC system and ACC related accident situation such as rear-end collision, lane-change, and road-curvature, etc. Also, from the field operation test data, the system's potential to increase the safety can be measured ideally. Besides, field operational testdata was used to revise the expected safety impact value as Korean road conditions. By using the proposed evaluation method, enhanced safety impact of the ACC system can be estimated scientifically.
