  • It is well known that tire/road factors have a large influence on overall tire performance. In this paper, the basic study on the effects of tire/road factors on the pass-by noise performance of tire labeling has been carried out through experimental tests. The tire pass-by noise is affected by road characteristic factors, especially greatly influenced by road friction coefficient, and the next dominant factor is road chipping size. For several authorized pass-by noise test tracks, the pass-by noise correlation test has been done to know the test site effect, which results in 2~3dB(A) variation of pass-by noise level. Finally, it is shown that the winter tire is differently influenced by the pass-by noise test track characteristics, as compared to all-season tire and summer tire.

  • Design Hourly Factor(DHF) is defined as the ratio of design hourly volume(DHV) to Average Annual Daily Traffic(AADT). Generally DHV used the 30th rank hourly volume. But this case DHV is affected by holiday volumes so the road is at risk for overdesigning. Computing K factor is available for counting 8,760 hour traffic volume, but it is impossible except permanent traffic counts. This study applied three method to make DHF, using 30th rank hourly volume to make DHF(method 1), using peak hour volume to make DHF(method 2). Another way to make DHF, rank hourly volumes ordered descending connect a curve smoothly to find the point which changes drastic(method 3). That point is design hour, thus design hourly factor is able to be computed. In addition road classified 3 type for national highway using factor analysis and cluster analysis, so we can analyze the characteristic of DHF by road type. DHF which was used method 1 is the largest at any other method. There is no difference in DHF by road type at method 2. This result shows for this reason because peak hour is hard to describe the characteristic of hourly volume change. DHF which was used method 3 is similar to HCM except recreation road but 118th rank hourly volume is appropriate.

  • Human walking is essential and important mean of transportation. Pedestrian safety is recently important because accidents often happen while walking. This research is showing that Walking-environmental factors have effect on safety while walking. At first, exact 15 factors and conduct survey in the preceding research. After that, exact 4 important factors through factor analysis. At result of Multiple regression analysis, null hypothesis has proved to be true by satisfying therms which is F-value 9.211 and P-value 0.000. and come to the conclusion that walking-environmental factors influence pedestrian safety. 4 important factors can be listed by below. Pedestrian-road characteristic, landscape characteristic, commercial characteristic, walking characteristics by following influence. Especially, landscape characteristic and pedestrian-road characteristic can be vital factors.

  • A method for the detection of on-road succeeding vehicles using visual characteristic features like horizontal edges, shadow, symmetry and intensity is proposed. The proposed method uses the prominent horizontal edges along with the shadow under the vehicle to generate an initial estimate of the vehicle-road surface contact. Fast symmetry detection, utilizing the edge pixels, is then performed to detect the presence of vertically symmetric object, possibly vehicle, in the region above the initially estimated vehicle-road surface contact. A window defined by the horizontal and the vertical line obtained from above along with local perspective information provides a narrow region for the final search of the vehicle. A bounding box around the vehicle is extracted from the horizontal edges, symmetry histogram and a proposed squared difference of intensity measure. Experiments have been performed on natural traffic scenes obtained from a camera mounted on the side view mirror of a host vehicle demonstrate good and reliable performance of the proposed method.

  • Generally, an unsaturated condition was not considered to predict the long-term strength and drainage behaviors on compacted road foundations. However, it is logical way to consider the unsaturated condition and hysteresis behavior on road foundations like subbase and subgrade. For more quantitative analysis, rational experimental approach requires proper laboratory tool and material model, and hydraulic properties of pavement geomaterials under unsaturated conditions. In this study, therefore, laboratory data from the soil-water characteristic curve tests were used to predict suction and unsaturated permeability on pavement foundations and the results were analyzed based on the nonlinear fitting model considered. In addition to that, the unsaturated moisture capacity of each material is discussed.

  • Each part of drum brake system is loaded by continual mechanical force and thermal force every time of braking, so enough strength and stability are required. Thermal characteristic is one of the important factors in drum brake systems design. This paper presents the thermal performance such as temperature distribution and thermal contact stress of drum brake system considering several braking patterns; 80th heat braking test mode, heat fade braking test mode, general road mode, steep slope road mode and off road mode. Transient heat transfer analysis and Thermo elastic contact analysis is executed to obtain the temperature distribution, and to evaluate thermal stress of drum brake by using ABAQUS/Standard code. This procedure of analysis can effectively be used to improve the quality problem of brake system and to get design guideline of the new product.

  • Noise problem that occurs on the road is raising a lot of problems in the economic, social and environmental aspects. The objective of this paper is to propose ANC(active noise cancellation)-based road traffic noise reduction algorithm-model which can reduce noise by generating frequency opposed to noise sources to improve and complement the problem that existing physical form of a noise barrier. In this paper, we measured the noise characteristic from collection of two difference car noise also ANC simulation has been performed by using road traffic noises input. In order to compare the control performance, we performed noise reduction simulation of ANC by filtered-X LMS algorithm and delayed control signal injection. As a result of this simulation, we confirmed that convergence performance and noise decrease effect to the filtered-X LMS algorithm by inputting the road traffic noise.

Lot system is organic relations of north and south direction of road. Therefore, urban tissue in around the old castle in cheongju city is established order road system keep on the change of expansion urban tissue. (2) Block type classified into non-division, 2division and over 3division. (3) The square block remains mostly in Cheongju old castle, two-division block was around south of castle. And block of the grid-form street system divided into over 3 division. Through the guideline about characteristic of block type, residential area should be developed as a characteristics area in the urban area.
