This study was carried out geochemically and mineralogically to define how Kunsan shore sediments are related to their terrestrial source rocks in the region of Keum River Basin, western Korea. As a whole the chemical composition for major elements, trace elements and rare earth elements analysis from shore sediments and river bed sediments doesn't show the big difference, and especially rare earth elements chondrite normalized patterns are almost same. Heavy minerals of shore sediments are identified as hornblende, epidote, ilmenite, garnet, hematite, magnetite, sphene and rutile. Compared with Taean Area of Seo et al. (1998) and Byeonsan Area of Kwon et al. (1999), Kunsan shore sediments of this study area were origined mostly from Keum River Basin.

In order to find the best design of artificial stream for the riverbed filtration in multi-purpose filtration pond, a mathematical model was developed employing the energy line and the Manning's formula and was analyzed by the Euler's technique. Various design factors were investigated through scenario analyses of the artificial stream using the model. Results showed that the appropriate slope of the stream bottom was 2/10,000 and the appropriate infiltration rate at the streambed was $2.5m^3/m^2-day$ for the pond with the area of 100 ha, and that the Manning's roughness coefficient in this case was expected to be about 0.026 and the maximum water-depth was less than 1m. It was also shown that the longer the artificial stream the more advantageous it became for the riverbed filtration. Furthermore, results showed that it was not an efficient way to prevent clogging of the streambed by increasing the flow velocity of the stream and that the performance was higher near a weir with a large head drop.

River surveying is conducted to acquire basic geographic data for river master plans and various river maintenance, and it is also used to predict changes after river maintenance construction. ABL (Airborne Bathymetric LiDAR) system is a cutting-edge surveying technology that can simultaneously observe the water surface and river bed using a green laser, and has many advantages in river surveying. In order to use the ABL data for river surveying, it is prerequisite step to segment and extract the water surface and river bed points from the original point cloud data. In this study, point cloud segmentation was performed by applying the ground filtering technique, ATIN (Adaptive Triangular Irregular Network) to the ABL data and then, the water surface and riverbed point clouds were extracted sequentially. In the Gokgyocheon river area, Chungcheongnam-do, the experiment was conducted with the dataset obtained using the Leica Chiroptera 4X sensor. As a result of the study, the overall classification accuracy for the water surface and riverbed was 88.8%, and the Kappa coefficient was 0.825, confirming that the ABL data can be effectively used for river surveying.
The use of wireless body area networks (WBANs) in healthcare applications has made it convenient to monitor both health personnel and patient status continuously in real time through wearable wireless sensor nodes. However, the heterogeneous and complex network structure of WBANs has some disadvantages in terms of control and management. The software-defined network (SDN) approach is a promising technology that defines a new design and management approach for network communications. In order to create more flexible and dynamic network structures in WBANs, this study uses the SDN approach. For this, a WBAN architecture based on the SDN approach with a new energy-aware routing algorithm for healthcare architecture is proposed. To develop a more flexible architecture, a controller that manages all HUBs is designed. The proposed architecture is modeled using the Riverbed Modeler software for performance analysis. The simulation results show that the SDN-based structure meets the service quality requirements and shows superior performance in terms of energy consumption, throughput, successful transmission rate, and delay parameters according to the traditional routing approach.

This thesis is to analyze characteristic of sustainable development in the Nak-dong River. The results are summarized in the followings. 1) The principles which did not consider the equilibrium between development and environment, ecosystem, security. precautionary measure, equity could devise a plan, changes of economic land area, sand & gravel extractions from the riverbed, the river contamination cleanup, dam build 2) The rules which disregard polluter pay and opening participation in public affairs could input of too much province budget and manpower, project team. The measures to solve these problems could be proposed expansion of environmental infrastructure, sustainable sand & gravel extractions from the riverbed, fortifying the assistance of the residents who live in Dam construction site and the peripheral area of Dam, lower local fund rates in national projects, and the creation of management organization.

The tactical mobile ad-hoc network(MANET) consists of distributed autonomous networks between individual ground nodes, which is effective in terms of network survivability and flexibility. However, due to constraints such as limited power, terrain, and mobility, frequent link disconnection and shadow area may occur in communication. On the other hand, the satellite network has the advantage of providing a wide-area wireless link overcoming terrain and mobility, but has limited bandwidth and high-latency characteristic. In the future battlefield, an integrated network architecture for interworking multi-layer networks through a heterogeneous network gateway (HNG) is required to overcome the limitations of the existing individual networks and increase reliability and efficiency of communication. In this paper, we propose a new HNG architecture and detailed algorithm that integrates satellite network and the tactical MANET and enables reliable data transfer based on flow characteristics of traffic. The simulations validated the proposed architecture using Riverbed Modeler, a network-level simulator.
The naturally opened Han river estuary is a place where the flows of the Han river, Imjin river, Yaesung river meet with West Sea of Korea, so the hydrodynamic mechanism(Impact-Response) structure of Han river estuary is complex. Continuous observation and measurement due to the morphological characteristics at the estuary are required to maintain the estuary environment and river management facilities. However, the Sannam wetland(the study area) is in the military operation area. Therefore, Sannam wetland has the limited access under the control from military office. In 2020, there had a natural disaster due to flooding in August and COVID-19, and it made a survey hard. The noncontact survey technique, the analysis of LANDSAT images at Sannam wetland, was applied to analyze riverbed fluctuation and morphological transformation around Sannam wetland. LANDSAT images obtained from EarthExplorer, USGS and analyzed by QGIS. The analysis was performed based on the area and the distance near Sannam wetland. As a result, an erosion was happened on the downstream of the study area, and the upstream of the study area did not have any serious sediment transport. Considering the resolution of LANDSAT images, this noncontect survey technique is applicable to manage the study area. From the analysis of LANDSAT images, it is assumed that the tidal effect is greater than the inflow from the upstream. The pattern change of tidal response causes the damage of the river facilities near the Hangang river estuary.

A river bed which is submerged in water at high flow and becomes part of the river at low flow, serves as a bridge between the river and the land. The channel bar creates a unique ecosystem with vegetation adapted to the particular environment and the water pool forms a wetland that plays a very important role in the environment. To evaluate anthropogenic impacts on the river bed in the Middle Yeongsangang River, the fluvial landforms in the stream channel were analyzed using multi-temporal remotely-sensed images. In the aerial photograph of 2005 taken before the construction of the large weirs, oxbow lakes, mid-channel bars, point bars, and natural wetlands between the artificial levees were identified. Multiple bars divided the flow of stream water to cause the braided pattern in a particular section. After the construction of the Seungchon weir, aerial photographs of 2013 and 2015 revealed that most of the fluvial landforms disappeared due to the dredging of its riverbed and water level control(maintenance at 7.5El.m). Sentinel-2 images were analyzed to identify differences between before and after the opening of weir gate. Change detection was performed with the near infrared and shortwave infrared spectral bands to effectively distinguish water surfaces from land. As a result, water surface area of the main stream of the Yeongsangang River decreased by 40% from 1.144km2 to 0.692km2. A large mid-channel bar that has been deposited upstream of the weir was exposed during low water levels, which shows the obvious influence of weir on the river bed. Newly formed unvegetated point bars that were deposited on the inside of a meander bend were identified from the remotely sensed images. As the maintenance period of the weir gate opening was extended, various habitats were created by creating pools and riffles around the channel bars. Considering the ecological and hydrological functions of the river bed, it is expected that the increase in bar areas through weir gate opening will reduce the artificial interference effect of the weir.

The interest of sediment has been increased daily because most of domestic dam reservoir's operation time have been extended and wide basin area is the main characteristics for artificial reservoir which the speed of water flow in artificial reservoir is slower than that of natural reservoir. Therefore a lot of sediment has been significantly accumulated. In this study, the accurate topographic data were obtained using echo-sounding system. GPS survey, low-frequency sub-bottom profiler, and high-frequency echo-sounding system were used to compute the exact amount of sediment. Based on the results, DEM(Digital Elevation Model) and DSM(Digital Surface Model) were generated. The GIS system for the management of sediment was created based on topographic data on the riverbed and this system can be efficiently used for the management of sediment which caused the problems of reservoir capacity and water quality.
A methodology has been proposed to understand the spatiotemporal changes of the river topography through the longitudinal change of the geometric characteristics of the cross-sections and the properties related thereto. Three-dimensional spatial information of the riverbed was obtained through the detailed bathymetry survey using an acoustic echo sounder for the reach from Gumi Weir to Chilgok Weir in the Nakdong river. Geometric informations for the reference sections were extracted using the acquired bathymetry survey data. By comparing the geometric properties for the reference sections, it was possible to catch the topographic characteristics and its changes over a reach of the channel. Through comparison with past survey data, it was also possible to quantitatively grasp the amount of change in cross-sectional area and volumetric change of riverbed. It is expected that a quantitative evaluation of river topography changes will be possible by applying the method proposed in this study.
