울산 회야강 하구 도류제 건설에 따른 표사이동 특성 (Characteristics of Sediment Transport due to the Construction of Jetty at the Heoya-River Mouth, Ulsan)

  • 연안에서 표사문제의 대책을 장기적인 관점에서 수립하기 위해서는 연안에서의 표사뿐만 아니라 배후지 하천으로부터 유출되는 유사량을 포함한 종합적인 토사관리 필요성이 증가하고 있다. 이와 같은 관점에서 본 연구에서 연안해역으로 유출되는 하천 유사의 이송, 하구에서 사주발생과 발달 및 하구폐색, 연안으로 유출된 유사의 저류문제, 홍수 시 외해로 유출되는 유사의 특성 등에 대해 검토하였다. 최근 울산 회야강 하구에 하구폐색과 하구사주의 발생에 따른 대책으로 1997년부터 2004년에 걸쳐 총연장 156m의 도류제를 건설하였다. 이에 따라 회야강 하구에서 도류제 건설에 따른 토사이동 특성이 변히고 있음에 따라 해저지형 변동과 표사이동을 해석하기 위하여 1차원 수치해석을 수행하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 울산 회야강 하구역에서 유출하는 유사량을 3가지 모래가 혼합되어 있다고 가정한 혼합입경의 관점을 가정하였다. 그리고 회야강 하구인근의 파동장, 해빈류장 및 표사이동 특성을 Bailard(1981)의 에너지 모형에 의해 해저지형 변동 특성을 해석하였다. 또, 하구폐색의 변동특성을 확인하기 위하여 항공사진을 통한 회야강 하구 및 진하 해수욕장 인근 지형변화를 비교하였다.

오염저감 기법개발을 위한 유출수내 고형물질 특성 규명 (Analysis of Solids in Runoff to Prevent Solids Pollution)

  • The fate and transport mechanism of pollutants which have affinities to particles, such as trace metals and some petroleum product based compounds, can be effectively explained by the movement of sediment. The sediment release from lands to adjacent water bodies due to rainfall events was investigated in an effort to predict the total suspended solids (TSS) concentrations in runoff. The contribution of sediment from land origin to the river TSS can be better understood by the relationship between TSS concentration and particle size in runoff. The sieve analysis was used to determine the particle size distribution and these results were incorporated into statistical models. The critical size of particles was set to $74{\mu}m$ which contributes to the river TSS concentration since fine particles (wash load) of the sediment in the runoff play the key role in constituting TSS in a water column of the river. Empirical relationships were developed to predict TSS in runoff from the percentage of the critical particle size and were proven statistically to be valid.

Distribution of Heavy Metals in Sediment Cores Collected from the Nakdong River, South Korea

  • Understanding the distribution of heavy metals in sediment is necessary because labile heavy metals can partition into the water column and bioaccumulate in aquatic organisms. Here we investigated six heavy metals (Co, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn) in sediment cores using a five-step sequential leaching method to examine the occurrence of heavy metals in the sediment. The results showed that all elements, except Mn, are depleted in the exchangeable and carbonate fractions. However, heavy metal concentrations are much higher in the Fe-Mn oxide and organic matter fractions, especially for Cu, indicating enrichment in the organic matter fraction. Furthermore, contamination parameters (contamination factor and geoaccumulation index) indicate that Mn contamination is high, primarily derived from anthropogenic sources, presenting a potential risk to ecosystems in the Nakdong River.

Impact of Estuarine Dams on the Estuarine Parameter Space and Sediment Flux Decomposition: Idealized Numerical Modeling Study

  • Estuarine dams are constructed for securing freshwater resources, flood control, and improving upstream navigability. However, their impact on estuarine currents, stratification, and sediment fluxes is not well understood. To develop a general understanding, an idealized modeling study was carried out. Tide and river forcing were varied to produce strongly stratified, partially mixed, periodically stratified, and well-mixed estuaries. Each model ran for one year. Next, the models were subject to the construction of an estuarine dam and run for another year. Then, the pre- and post-dam conditions were compared. Results showed that estuarine dams can amplify the tidal range and reduce the tidal currents. The post-dam estuaries tended to be a salt wedge during freshwater discharge and a bay during no freshwater discharge. For all estuaries, the estuarine turbidity maximum moved seaward, and the suspended sediment concentrations tended to decrease. In terms of sediment flux mechanisms, the estuarine dam increased the seaward river runoff for cases with strong river, and increased the landward tidal pumping for cases with strong tides.

낙동강 하류의 하상구조와 오염물질과의 상관관계 연구 (A Study on the Relation between Riverbed Structure and Pollutant Concentration in Downstream of Nakdong River)

  • This study was performed to investigate the relationship between concentrations of heavy metals in sediment and the depths of 27 sampling sites along the West Nakdong river in downstream of Nakdong River. The deepest site was Kangdong bridge nearby 20ft. From here, the depth was shallowed to Chidong gradually. In each site the smaller mesh was, the liger concentration of heavy metal becomed. Concentration of Zn, Cd, Cr and Cu at inflow point of Shinoe stream was 576.016 ppm, 262.307 ppm, 68.674 ppm and 61.634 ppm, respectively, the concentration was the higest at this point. From here, it was lowered gradually. The concentration of heavy metal at inflow point of Joman river was 155.328 ppm, 56.485 ppm, 25.200 ppm and 31.172 ppm, respectively, those concentrations were liger than other points with the exception of Shinoe stream. Therefore, woman river and Shinoe stream were the major source of pollution in West Nakdong river. Among two sources Shinoe stream was more important source of pollution. West Nakdong river has become lake by Noksan floodgate because it's pollution has had influence on Bonglim.

하상오염물 제거에 의한 수질개선효과 수치모델링 (Numerical Simulation of Water Quality Enhancement by Removal of Contaminated Bed Material)

  • This study has an objective to estimate effect on water-quality enhancement by removal of contaminated river-bed material using a two-dimensional numerical modeling in the Seonakdong River, the Pyunggang River and the Maekdo River. RMA2 and RMA4 models were used for flow and contaminant transport simulation, respectively. After the analysis of the effects of flow restoration plan for the Seonakdong River system made by Lee et al (2008), simulation have been performed about scenarios which contains operations of the Daejeo Gate, the Noksan Gate, the Makdo Gate (on planning), and the Noksan Pumping Station. Because there is no option for elution from bed sediment in the RMA4 model, a simple technique has been used for initial condition modification for elution. The analyses revealed that the effect on water quality improvement due to dredging of bed sediment seemed to be less than 10 % of the total effect. The most efficient measure for the water quality improvement of the river system was the linked operation of water-gates and pumping station.

다변량 해석기법에 의한 금강 하구역의 수질평가 (Evaluation of Water Quality in the Keum River Estuary by Multivariate Analysis)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate water quality in the Keum River estuary using principal component analysis. The results was summarized as follow; Water quality in the Keum River estuary could be explained up to 70.40% by three factors which were included in the inffluent loading by the Keum River and Kyungpo cheon(38.99%), seasonal variation and organic matter pollution(19.05%), sediment resuspension and internal metabolism(12.35%). For spatial variation of factor score, artificial pollutant loading is highest at st.1, below Keum River barrage, and decreases toward the outer sea. For annual variation of factor score, factor 1 was highly related to artificial pollutant leading, and it was gently increased in 1994. Also, organic matter pollution, sediment resuspension and internal metabolism were increased to every year. It is necessary to control the nutrient leading by Keum river and Kyongpo cheon for Water quality management of estuary.

주성분 분석법을 이용한 낙동강 하구 해역의 수질 평가 (Evaluation of Water Quality using Principal Component Analysis in the Nakdong Rivev Estuary)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate water quality utilizing principal component analysis in the Nakdong River Estuary. From the results of analysis, water quality in the Nakdong River Estuary could be explained up to 65.3 Percente by three factors which were Included In river loadlnwastes from the Nakdong River and rainfalls : 39.1%1, sediment resuspension(13.7BS) and metabolism(12.5%). In the eastern part of estuary In flowing the Nakdong River, river loading factor score(factor 1 Pas higher than that In western part. Sediment resuspension factor score(factor 2) was high in shallow water, while metabolism factor score(factor 3) was high in deeper water. For seasonal variations of factors score, factor 1 was h19h- 1y related to rainfall season.

Sediment에서의 전기활성 박테리아 분포 특성 (Distribution of Electrochemically Active Bacteria in the Sediment)

  • 낙동강, 회동 및 기장에서 채집한 sediment의 미생물 군집을 FISH 분석을 통하여 조사한 결과, ${\alpha}$ 그룹, Acidobacter 그룹 및 Cyanobacter 그룹의 분포비율이 가장 높았으며 전체적으로 서로 유사한 분포 특성을 나타내었다. 각각의 sediment를 접종한 MFC 농화배양 이후의 coulombic yield는 낙동강, 회동 및 기장의 경우 각각 0.64 C, 0.50 C, 0.61 C로 나타났으며, 농화배양 완료 후의 미생물 군집분포는 ${\beta}$-Proteobacteria, ${\gamma}$-Proteobacteria, Acidobacter 그룹 및 Firmicutes 그룹이 농화배양 전보다 각각 45~90%, 50~90%, 40~80% 및 45~125% 정도 생체량이 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 농화배양이 끝난 후 16S rDNA를 이용한 미생물 동정결과에서, 낙동강 sediment를 주입한 MFC의 경우는 ${\alpha}$-Proteobacteria의 속하는 Roseomonas sp., Azospillum sp.와 ${\gamma}$-Proteobacteria의 Frateuria sp., Dyella sp., Enterobacter sp.와 Deinococci 그룹의 Deinococcus sp.가 동정되었고, 기장 sediment는 ${\alpha}$-Proteobacteria의 Azospillum sp.와 ${\beta}$-Proteobacteria의 Delftia sp., Ralstonia sp.와 ${\gamma}$-Proteobacteria의 Klebsiella sp. 와 Deinococci 그룹의 Deinococcus sp.가 동정되었으며, 회동 sediment는 ${\gamma}$-Proteobacteria의 Pseudomonas sp., Klebsiella sp.와 Deinococci 그룹의 Deinococci sp.와 Actinobacteria 그룹의 Leifsonia sp.와 Bacilli 그룹의 Bacillus sp.가 동정되었다.

금호강(琴湖江) 저니토중(底泥土中) Polychlorinated Biphenyls(PCBs)의 잔류(殘留) (Residual Polychlorinated Biphenyls(PCBs) in the Sediment of the Kumho River)

  • 낙동강의 수질에 큰 영향을 미치는 금호강 하류 하상에서의 저니토 중 PCBs 잔류량을 조사할 필요가 있다. 따라서 금호강과 낙동강 합류점으로부터 7.5km까지의 금호강 하상저니토 중 PCBs의 잔류량을 평가하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 첫째, PCBs가 염소화되어 DCB로 전환되었으며, DCB의 최소검출량은 2pg이었고, 저니토 중 PCBs의 최저 검출농도는 0.5ng/g이었다. 둘째, 시료 100점에 대한 PCBs의 검출빈도는 79%였다. 전체 시료에서 50ng/g이하인 시료가 49%였으며 400ng/g이상인 시료가 9%였다. 셋째, PCBs농도는 금호강과 낙동강의 합류점으로부터 7.5km까지의 거리에서는 큰 변화가 없었다. 넷째, $0{\sim}250cm$까지의 저니토 깊이에 따른 PCBs분포에서, $50{\sim}100cm$ 깊이에서의 PCBs농도는 평균농도보다 높았다. 다섯째, 저니토 중 COD의 평균농도는 $14.5{\pm}11.4mg/g$였고, Org.C의 평균농도는 $3.41{\pm}3.55%$였다. 여섯째, 점토 및 유기물 함량이 낮은 모래 토양의 PCBs 농도는 평균농도의 115%로 높았다. 그러나 점토 및 유기물 함량이 높은 저니토에서의 PCBs농도는 평균농도의 69%로 낮았다. 일곱째, 시료 100점 에 대한 PCBs의 평균농도는 $131{\pm}156ng/g$이었다. 이는 일본 환경청의 PCBs에 대한 하상제거기준 10000ng/g보다 매우 낮았다.
