Implementation of a Digital Ballast for HID Lamps (HID 램프 디지털 안정기의 제작)

  • This paper presents a microprocessor controlled digital ballast for HID lamps, which gives intelligent features such as a precise power control, optimum ignition voltage and detection of end of life. Average current mode PFC is employed for reducing EMI and a universal input. Direct spread spectrum is done by applying 1 KHz triangular wave for removing acoustic resonance. This frequency modulation of 1 KHz gives also low EMI level and no ripple on lamp current. The microprocessor controls the voltage of DC-bus, the voltage of ignition pulses, the power of output and the bandwidth of spread spectrum. A 250W digital ballast is implemented with an efficiency of 93% and a maximum EMI level of 55 ㏈${\mu}$V.

  • In this study, we designed a digital fuzzy logic controller based on FPGA and microprocessor for MPPT of the solar power generation system. A fuzzy algorithm to control the power tracking function of a boost converter has been built into the FPGA, and applied to the small scaled solar power generation system. The embodied controller showed a stable operation characteristic with the small output voltage ripple for the intensity change of solar radiation. This result proves that the implementation of the power tracking controller using FPGA is an effective way compared to the existing one using microprocessors.

  • Nowadays, bidirectional DC-DC converters are becoming more into picture for different applications especially electric vehicles. There are many bidirectional DC-DC converters topologies; however, voltage-fed Dual Half-Bridge (DHB) topology has less number of switches as compared to other isolated bidirectional DC-DC converters. Furthermore, voltage fed DHB has galvanic isolation, high power density, reduced size, high efficiency and hence cost effective. Electrolytic capacitors always have problem regarding size and reliability in DC-AC single phase inverters. Therefore, voltage-fed DHB converter is proposed for the purpose of power decoupling to replace electrolytic capacitor by film capacitors. A new control strategy has been developed for 120Hz ripple rejection, and it was verified by simulation.

  • This paper investigates an economic and highly efficient power converter topology and its modulation scheme for 60kW rapid EV charger system. The target system consists of three-phase three-switch buck-type rectifier topology. A new Carrier Based PWM scheme along with its simple implementation using logic gates is introduced in this paper. This PWM scheme replaces the diode rectifier equivalent switching state with an active switching state producing the effectively same current flowing path. As a result, the distortion of input current during the polarity reversal of capacitor line voltage can be mitigated. The proposed modulation technique is confirmed through simulation verification. The proposed modulation technique and its implementation scheme can expand the operation range of the three-phase three-switch buck-type rectifier having ac input and capacitor ripple current of high quality.

  • This paper deals with a $3{\phi}$ rectifier unit for telecommunication system. The rectifier unit is developed to Cope with the step-up of the AC input voltatage from 220V to 380V. By using a buck-type converter in the front-end, it keeps the input power factor high and reduces the voltage ripple in the dc output. It also has a very wide voltage regulation range, which lets the unit be applied for both the 220V and 380V input system. The study includes the power conversion scheme, control strategy, snubber circuit and finally, experimental results.

  • In this paper, a drive circuit for a bifilar-wound hybrid step motor considering mutual inductance and back-emf is investigated. For the suppression circuit, the varition of average torque and torque ripple due to the effect of mutual inductance and back-emf is presented. In order to improve the performance of the motor, a new control scheme is also proposed.

  • In this paper, the voltage control is applied to the adjustable speed operation of BLDC motor with the trapezoidal back emf waveform. Torque chrateristics of BLDC are investigated through Fourier analysis when the pulse width modulation inverter is applied. Also, this paper consisders the theoretical problem of eliminating some harmonic components in inverter output waveforms, which, in turn, allows to remove some ripple components. Numerical technique is applied to solve the transcendental equations of the problem by the computer.

  • 본 논문에서는 연료전지 시스템에서 발생되는 저주파 리플의 전달과정을 분석하고, PCS 회로 및 인버터 제어방식에 따른 저주파 리플 영향을 비교 분석한다. 부스트 컨버터와 풀브리지 컨버터의 입력전류 고조파 분포와 인버터 PWM 스위칭 방식에 따른 입력전류에서의 영향을 고조파 분포 및 저주파 리플 측면에서 분석한다. 풀브리지 컨버터에서 전달되는 저주파 리플 크기가 상대적으로 작은 것을 확인하고, PWM 스위칭 방식은 저주파 리플에 영향을 주지 않는다는 것을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 확인한다.

  • BLDC 전동기는 선형적인 토크 대 전류, 속도 대 전압 특성을 갖고 있으며 기계적, 전기적인 잡음이 없고, 가감속 제어가 용이하며, 토크 대 관성의 비가 매우 높아 소형으로 높은 출력을 낼 수 있다는 장점을 가지고 있다. 그러나 전기자 전류의 전환(Commutation)시 고정자 권선의 인덕턴스 성분과 역기전력으로 인해 발생되는 전류 리플은 BLDC 전동기 토크리플의 중요한 원인이 된다. 이에 본 논문에서는 고속 연산이 가능하고 별도의 외부 메모리 없이 칩 하나로 모든 동작을 할 수 있는 TMS320LF2407 DSP칩을 사용, Hard-chopping PWM 방식을 이용하여 전류 리플을 감소시켰으며, 이를 시뮬레이션 및 실험을 통해 증명하였다.

  • SRM has a characteristic of a robust, simple structure and wide operating ranges. So, recently it has studied and developed in many kinds and forms with the technology of power electronics and analysis and design by use of computer. Also, It is used in a very wide range of industrial applications. In particular, single phase switched reluctance motor has a merit in practical use because it has simple operating drives and control systems, very high energy density per unit volume comparing with three phase SRM. But it must have a starting device. In this paper, the shapes of the single phase SRM rotor are designed to reduce the torque ripple, to improve the efficiency.
