Recently, applications of the reluctance torque motor have been quite limited due to their inherent limitation of noise and vibration and thus, researches on the reluctance motor have been limited as well. However, with the tremendous increase in the cost of rare earth material magnets, studies of the reluctance torque motor are being conducted more and more. In principle, reluctance torque is generated when the inductance is changed. Therefore, in order to generate continuous torque in the switched reluctance motor, it is necessary to figure out the exact inductance level corresponding to the rotor position and the current level to be applied in that rotor position, respectively. If the current level or the rotor position is not accurately determined, then the generated reluctance torque becomes unstable and undesirable torque ripples prevail to eventually cause noise and vibrations. In this research, a flux switched reluctance motor (FSRM), which is classified into the switched reluctance motor (SRM), was studied. A methodology using the current shaping control according to the rotor position was proposed. Based on the proposed methodology, the optimal current waveform and the torque distribution function for the FSRM to minimize torque ripple was established and demonstrated in this paper.
Renewable energy based on photovoltaic systems is beginning to play an important role to supply power to remote areas all over the world. Owing to the lower output voltage of photovoltaic arrays, high gain DC-DC converters with a high efficiency are required in practice. This paper presents a novel interleaved DC-DC boost converter with a high voltage gain, where the input terminal is interlaced in parallel and the output terminal is staggered in series (IPOSB). The IPOSB configuration can reduce input current ripples because two inductors are interlaced in parallel. The double output capacitors are charged in staggered parallel and discharged in series for the load. Therefore, IPOSB can attain a high step-up conversion and a lower output voltage ripple. In addtion, the output voltage can be automatically divided by two capacitors, without the need for extra sharing control methods. At the same time, the voltage stress of the power devices is lowered. The inrush current problem of capacitors is restrained by the inductor when compared with high gain converters with a switching-capacitor structure. The working principle and steady-state characteristics of the converter are analyzed in detail. The correctness of the theoretical analysis is verified by experimental results.
A Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) has a torque pulsating inherently due to characteristics of pulse driving. A torque pulsating causes noise and sound vibration. To reduce a noise, a torque pulsating shall be controlled. Many efforts to make flat-topped current has been proposed to minimize a torque pulsating up to now. This paper proposed a control scheme to minimize the vibration of SRM by controlling the vibration directly by using of self-turning technique. The experimental results show that the proposed control scheme is effective in reducing the torque ripple and noise.
In this paper a Direct Torque Control(DTC) scheme for PWM three level inverter-fed induction motor drives, is presented and discussed. In orde to deal with DTC scheme applied three level inverter, the selection of voltage vector is proposed to minimize switching frequency and torque ripple. The simulation results shows a validity of the control scheme.
In this paper a new adaptive control algorithm is derived, with the unknown manipulator and payload parameters being estimated online. In practice, we may simplify the algorithm by not explicity estimating all unknown parameters. Further, the controller must be robust to residual time-varying disturbance, such as striction or torque ripple. Also, the reference model is a simple douple integrator and the acceleration input for robot manipulator consists of a proportion and derivative controller for trajectory tracking purposes. The validity of this control is confirmed in simulation where two-link robot manipulator shows the robust performances in spite of the existing nonlinear interaction and unknown parametrictings
A control scheme for the Voltage-sourced PWM converter based on space vector equations is introduced. The main advantages of this new control scheme are that sinusoidal line currents with nearly unity power factor, ripple-free DC voltage output are achevied without current sensors. The dynamical equations with battery model is derived. The proposed scheme is verified by computer simulation.
By way of driving a 2-way on/off solenoid hydraulic valve with a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal, control of the pressure in a certain volume is frequently used in various applications. However, the pressure built-up according to the duty ratio and carrier frequency of the PWM signal is not so well understood. In order to clarify the characteristics of 2-way valve hydraulic pressure control systems, in this paper two formula fur the mean and ripple of the load pressure were derived through theoretical analysis. And the accuracy of the derived formula were verified by comparison with the experimental test result. Generally 2-way valve systems are constructed as a bleed-off circuit, while 3-way valves are used as a control element in a meter-in circuit pressure control system. In a bleed-off circuit, the system supply pressure from a hydraulic power pack does not remain constant, but changes according to their external load. In turn, the relief valve in the hydraulic power pack reacts accordingly showing complicated dynamic behavior, which makes an analytical study difficult. In order to resolve the problem, simple but accurate empirical dynamic models fer a bleed-off system were used in the course of formula derivation. As the result, selection criteria for two major control parameters of the driving signal is established and the basic strategy to suppress the unnecessary pressure fluctuation can be provided for a hydraulic pressure control system using a 2-way on/off solenoid valve.
This paper proposed a new control method which is capable of controlling circulating current considering current capacity of switching device. In the unbalanced voltage conditions, active power and reactive power have double line frequency. Thus, in order to provide active power without ripple, it is necessary to inject the negative sequence current components. However, when the negative current components is injected, it increases the total current flowing in the Arm, and in the Sub-module(SM) the current more than rated is impressed, which leads to destroy the system. Also, in impressing the circulating current reference of each arm, conventional control method impressed applicable $i_{dck}/3$ in the case of balanced voltage conditions. In the case of unbalanced conditions, as arm circulating current of three phase show difference due to the power impressed to each arm, reference of each arm is not identical. In this study, in the case of unbalanced voltage, within permitted current, the control method to decrease the ripple of active power is proposed, through circulating current control and current limitations. This control method has the advantage that calculates the maximum active power possible to generate capacity and impressed the current reference for that much. Also, in impressing circulating current reference, a new control method proposes to impress the reference from calculating active power of each phase. The proposed control method is verified through the simulation results, using the PSCAD/EMTDC.
The errors generated from current measurement paths are inevitable, and they can be divided into two categories: offset error and scaling error. The current data including these errors cause periodic speed ripples which are one and two times the stator electrical frequency respectively. Since these undesirable ripples bring about harmful influences to motor driving systems, a compensation algorithm must be introduced to the control algorithm of the motor drive. In this paper, a new compensation algorithm is proposed. The signal of the integrator output of the d-axis current regulator is chosen and processed to compensate for the current measurement errors. Usually the d-axis current command is zero or constant to acquire the maximum torque or unity power factor in the ac drive system, and the output of the d-axis current regulator is nearly zero or constant as well. If the stator currents include the offset and scaling errors, the respective motor speed produces a ripple related to one and two times the stator electrical frequency, and the signal of the integrator output of the d-axis current regulator also produces the ripple as the motor speed does. The compensation of the current measurement errors is easily implemented to smooth the signal of the integrator output of the d-axis current regulator by subtracting the DC offset value or rescaling the gain of the hall sensor. Therefore, the proposed algorithm has several features: the robustness in the variation of the mechanical parameters, the application of the steady and transient state, the ease of implementation, and less computation time. The MATLAB simulation and experimental results are shown in order to verify the validity of the proposed current compensating algorithm.

In this paper, a different type of pulse width modulation (PWM) control scheme for a buck converter is introduced. The proposed buck converter uses PWM with frequency hopping and a low quiescent.current low dropout (LDO) voltage regulator with a power supply rejection ratio enhancer to reduce high spurs, harmonics and output voltage ripples. The low quiescent.current LDO voltage regulator is not described in this paper. A three-bit binary-to-thermometer decoder scheme and voltage ripple controller (VRC) is implemented to achieve low voltage ripple less than 3mV to increase the efficiency of the buck converter. An internal clock that is synchronized to the internal switching frequency is used to set the hopping rate. A center frequency of 2.5MHz was chosen because of the bluetooth low energy (BLE) application. This proposed DC-DC buck converter is available for low-current noise-sensitive loads such as BLE and radio frequency loads in portable communications devices. Thus, a high-efficiency and low-voltage ripple is required. This results in a less than 2% drop in the regulator's efficiency, and a less than 3mV voltage ripple, with -26 dBm peak spur reduction operating in the buck converter.
