The main purpose of this work is to investigate the performance of membranes for treatment of dyeing wastewater. The microfiltration (MF) membranes (titania-blended polysulfone & alumina) were prepared. The nanofiltration (NF) and reverse osmosis (RO) membranes were kindly supplied by the Sae-Han. In order to reuse the wastewater for dyeing, the effluents were treated by the high flux RO and the fouling resistant RO (FRM) membranes. Also, the NF membrane was used for water reuse in rinsing.
In accordance with the growing trend of decommissioning nuclear facilities, research on the cutting process is actively proceeding worldwide. In general, a thermal cutting process, such as plasma cutting is applied to decommissioning a nuclear reactor pressure vessel (RPV). Plasma cutting has the advantage of removing the radioactive materials and being able to cut thick materials. However, when operating under water, the molten metal remains in the cut plane and re-solidifies. Hence, cutting is not entirely accomplished. For these environmental reasons, it is difficult to cut thick metal. The contact arc metal cutting (CAMC) process can be used to cut thick metal under water. CAMC is a process that cuts metal using a plate-shaped electrode based on a high-current arc plasma heat source. During the cutting process, high-pressure water is sprayed from the electrode to remove the molten metal, known as rinsing. As the CAMC is conducted without using a shielding gas, such as Argon, the electrode is consumed during the process. In this study, CAMC is introduced as a method for dismantling nuclear vessels and the relationship between the metal removal and electrode consumption is investigated according to the cutting conditions.
In this study, a new cleaning process with a low cost of ownership (CoO) was developed with ozonated DI water ($DIO_3$). An ozone concentration of 40 ppm at room temperature was used to remove organic wax film and particles. Wax residues thicker than $200\;{\AA}$ remained after only a commercial dewaxer treatment. A $DIO_3$ treatment in place of a dewaxer showed a low removal rate on a thick wax layer of $8000\;{\AA}$ due to the diffusion-limited reaction of ozone. A dewaxer was combined with a $DIO_3$ rinse to reduce the wax removal time and remove wax residue completely. Replacing DI rinse with the $DIO_3$ rinse resulted in a surface with a contact angle of less than $5^{\circ}$, which indicates no further cleaning steps would be required. The particle removal efficiency (PRE) was further improved by combining a SC-1 cleaning step with the $DIO_3$ rinsing process. A reduction in the process time was obtained by introducing $DIO_3$ cleaning with a dewaxing process.
Background: This study was conducted in order to survey the current state of cleaning, disinfection, rinsing, drying, and storage of gastrointestinal endoscopes. Methods: Eighty hospitals were selected through convenient sampling. Self-reported questionnaire was distributed from September 14 to October 10 in 2015. Results: The response rate was 67.5% (54/80). In 88.9% of the hospitals, reprocessing was performed in a cleaning space separated from the laboratory and 88.9% used an enzymatic cleaner. Disinfectants used were ortho-phthalaldehyde in 63.0%, and paracetic acid in 33.3%. Eighty seven percent of the hospitals used test strips in order to test the effective concentration of disinfectant and in 61.1%, drying was done through passing air and over 70% alcohol. Microbial culture for the quality control of gastrointestinal endoscopes was performed in 77.8%. In the comparison of the adequacy of gastrointestinal endoscope reprocessing, it was observed that gastrointestinal endoscopes were reprocessed more adequately in larger and tertiary care hospitals. Conclusion: Gastrointestinal endoscopes were reprocessed in similar manners, but there were differences in the detailed process. It is still necessary to segment reprocessing into stages, to prepare standardized guidelines, and to monitor compliance with the guidelines.

The objective of this study was to develop and assess the performance of an aseptic system for liquid milk contained in plastic bottles, from a small-scale production standpoint. Commercial sterility tests conducted on the bottled milk were utilized in our assessments of the system, via the identification and monitoring of the principal points of the process. Four 150 L batches of milk with pH values of approximately 6.7 were heat-processed at between 137 and $143^{\circ}C$ for 10 see in a plate heat exchanger, and then aseptically transferred to 500 mL high-density polyethylene (HOPE) bottles, in an ISO class 7 clean room. The aseptic condition of the bottles was achieved via 10 see of rinsing with a mixture containing 0.5% peracetic acid and 0.8% hydrogen peroxide at $30^{\circ}C$, followed by another rinse with sterile water. Of the 4 batches processed, 2 were determined to exhibit commercial sterility, on the basis of the physical-chemical and microbiological criteria adopted. It was concluded that some adjustment of the processing line was required in order to achieve full commercial sterility for all processes. The aseptic system developed and assessed in this study was demonstrated to have great potential for the processing and transferring of milk into plastic bottles, from a small-scale production standpoint.
