축대칭 압출 공정에서 상계법을 이용한 금형 접족면압의 계산 (Calculation of Contact Pressure to the Die of Axisymmetric Extrusion by Using Upper Bound Solution)

  • In general, the contact pressure to the die cannot be easily determined by using upper bound solution. Recently, the authors have proposed the method determining the contact pressure with the upper bound solution for the forming with the plane stain plastic deformation. In this paper, the method is applied to an axisymmetric forward extrusion process. The contact pressure to the die of the axisymmetric extrusion has been determined with the upper bound solution and compared with the result of rigid plastic FEM. The optimal semi-angles of die have been obtained minimizing the relative contact pressure to die fur the extrusion ratio.

  • A design methodology is applied for manufacturing a disk-brake piston component and a washing machine container. The design criteria are the limit drawing ratio and the forging load within the available press limit. Also, the final product should not have any geometrical defect. The rigid-plastic and elastic-plastic FEM have been applied to simulate both of the conventional manufacturing processes, respectively, which include deep drawing and forging process. Simulations of one stage process from a selected stock to the final product shape are performed for generating information on additional requirements for metal flow. The best manufacturing processes are selected, which is using a hemispherical punch in the deep drawing process for both disk-brake piston component and washing machine container.

  • In this paper, a finite element model is presented for the prediction of roll force and strip thickness in a backup-roll-drive mill. The proposed FE model is focused mainly on analyzing the elastic/plastic behavior between a work roll and a strip as well as the rigid/plastic behavior between a backup roll and a work roll. The capability of the proposed model is demonstrated through application to 4-high silicon steel rolling mill at POSCO. Results show that the predicted roll force and strip thickness rolled accurately agree with the measured them. It is also illustrated that the proper position of work roll displaced to one side from the vertical centerline of the backup-roll may be determined by minimizing the horizontal force of work roll.

경도-유효변형률 관계에 관한 유한요소 해석 (Finite Element Analysis for the Relation between Hardness and Effective Strain)

  • It is already known that hardness value of cold-forged product is in close conjunction with its effective strain. This paper presents the method to predict the relation between effective strains and hardness values by using FE-simulation of hardness test from the conception that hardness indicates resistance to plastic deformation. The results of FE-simulation for the material with pre-strain arc compared with those of experiments of the references to show the feasibility of the proposed method.

  • Tubular hydroforming has attracted increased attention in the automotive industry recently. In this study, a professional finite element program for analysis and design of tube hydroforming processes has been developed, called HydroFORM-3D, which is based on a rigid-plastic model. With the developed program several hydroforming processes such as a tee extrusion, an automotive rear axle housing and lower arm are analyzed and designed. And also, the Oyane's ductile fracture integral I was calculated from the histories of stress and strain according to every element and then the forming limit of the hydroforming process could be evaluated. The pediction of the bursting failure and the plastic deformation during typical hydroforming processes shows to be reasonable so that this approach can be extended to other various tube hydroforming processes.

냉간 가공 제품의 경도와 유효 변형률에 관한 연구 (A Study on Hardness and Effective Strain of Cold-Worken Products)

  • It is already known that hardness number of cold-forged product is in close conjunction with its effective strain. This paper presents the method to predict the relation between effective strains and hardness by using FE-simulation of hardness test from the conception that hardness indicates resistance to plastic deformation. The results of FE-simulation for the materials are compared with those of experiments and also compared with those of experiments in reference to show the feasibility of the proposed method. In addition, the present method was applied to the cold-forged product to verify the relation between hardness and effective strain. As a result, the predicted hardness number by the present method is in good agreement with experimental values. Prediction of hardness fur a cold-forged product comes to be possible by estimating the relation between effective strain and hardness using the proposed method in this study.

  • Hot-forging process and die design were made for a large-scale compressor wheel of Ti-6Al-4V alloy by using the results of 2-D FEM simulation. The design integrated the geometry-controlled approach and the processing contour map based on the dynamic materials model and the flow stability criteria. In order to obtain the processing contour map of Ti-6Al-4V alloy, compression tests were carried out in the temperature range of $915^{\circ}C$ to $1015^{\circ}C$ and the strain rate range of $10^{-3}s^{-1}$ to $10s^{-1}$. In the die design of the compressor wheel using the rigid-plastic FEM simulation, forging dimensional accuracy, the capacity of the forging machine and defect-free forging were considered as main design factors. The microstructure of hot forged wheel using the designed die showed a typical alpha-beta structure without forging-defects.

  • 본 연구에서는 지진 등과 같이 소성변형의 범위가 큰 Low-Cycle-Fatigue 범주에서 구조물의 응력변동을 중심으로 사용되는 기존의 피로곡선인 S-N선도 보다 실질적으로 간단하게 측정하여 분석할 수 있는 소성회전각에 의한 피로곡선을 제시하였다. 이는 소성힌지가 생성되는 곳의 소성변형율과 구조물의 소성회전각이 서로 정비례를 이루는 상관관계임을 입증하여, 실험을 통하여 밝혀진 소성변형율의 피로곡선의 기울기와 소성회전각의 기울기가 서로 같은 값을 가짐을 보여 주었다. 이론은 Manson과 Coffin의 변형을 피로곡선을 도입하였고, 실험은 ECCS 주관하에 실시하였으며, 수치해석을 통하여 소성힌지 부위의 위치와 정확한 소성변형율을 산정할 수 있었다.

궤도차량과 토양의 상호작용에 대한 연구 (Study of the Interaction between Tracked Vehicle and Terrain)

  • The planar tracked vehicle model used in this investigation consists of two kinematically decoupled subsystems, i.e., the chassis subsystem and the track subsystem. The chassis subsystem includes the chassis frame, sprocket, idler and rollers, while the track subsystem is represented as a closed kinematic chain consisting of rigid links interconnected by revolute joints. In this study, the recursive kinematic and dynamic formulation of the tracked vehicle is used to find the vertical terce and the distance of an arbitrary track moved in the driving direction along the track. These distances and vertical forces obtained are used to get the deformation and sinkage of a terrain. The FEM(Finite Element Method) is adopted to analyze the interaction between tracked vehicle and terrain. The terrain is represented by a system of elements wish specified constitutive relationships and considered as a piecewise linear elastic, plastic and isotropic material. When the tracked vehicle is moving with different speeds on the terrain, the elastic and plastic deformations and the maximum sinkage for the four different types of isotropic soils are simulated.

경사지반에 인접하여 설치된 무리말뚝의 거동연구 (Behaviors of Pile Croup Installed Near Inclined Ground)

  • 사면을 포함한 경사지에 설치된 송전탑, 교각, 고층빌딩 등을 지지하는 말뚝은 풍하중, 지진, 차량 등에 의한 수평하중을 고려하여 설계되어야 한다. 이러한 사면이나 경사지에 설치된 수평하중을 받는 말뚝은 편평한 지반에 비하여, 수평지지력이 감소하기 때문이다. 그러므로 이러한 구조물은 일반적으로 강성이 높고, 대구경의 기초인 피어기초가 사용된다. 수평하중을 받는 피어기초는 일반적으로 장대말뚝과 다른 거동을 한다. 즉, 수평하중에 의하여 말뚝 자체의 회전이 발생하고, 그 회전의 중심점 상부의 사면측의 수동토압에 의존하여 지반파괴가 발생한다는 측면에서 짧은 강성 말뚝과 유사한 거동을 한다. 본 논문은 모래사면의 언덕 근처에 설치된 짧은 말뚝의 수평하중의 영향에 대한 실험 및 수치해석 결과를 포함한다. 대부분을 모형실험과 3차원 탄소성 유한요소해석의 비교, 결과를 기술하였다. 먼저, 사면 언덕에서 모형말뚝까지의 거리를 3종류로 구분하여 단항의 모형실험과 군항말뚝의 수평하중 특성을 파악하기 위하여 수평지반과 사면지반(경사 30$^{\circ}$)에 대하여 말뚝중심간의 거리를 각2종류로 모형실험을 실시하였다. 동시에 3차원 탄소성 유한요소법에 의한 수치해석을 통하여 모형실험의 결과와의 비교를 시도하였다. 사용된 모래지반은 배수조건하에서 삼축압축실험으로 재현하였다. 3차원 탄소성 유한요소해석에서 완전탄소성모델의 파괴기준은 Mohr-Coulomb식, 소성 포텐셜은 Drucker-Prage식을 이용한 MC-DP모델을 적용하였다. 연구결과, 3차원탄소성 유한요소법이 사질토 지반에 설치된 짧은 말뚝의 수평거동을 파악하는데 유효하다는 것을 확인하였다.
