Performance Analysis of A Hybrid Codebook for LTE Downlink Relay Systems (LTE 하향 링크 중계기 시스템에서 새로운 하이브리드 코드북 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, we propose a novel hybrid codebook design method which combines DFT matrix based codebook for Rayleigh fading and LOS codebook for direct path. Link-level performances employing hybrid codebook outperform the ones employing the conventional codebooks when K-factor of Rician distribution is 0.28 to 0.99. Moreover hybrid codebook shows good performances over not only Rayleigh channel but also high K's Rician channels.

A Study on the Performance Characteristics of a Chirp RTLS over Wireless Channel with Gaussian Noise (가우시안 잡음이 존재하는 무선채널에서 Chirp RTLS 시스템의 성능 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The chirp signaling has been mainly used in radar systems due to its good correlation characteristics, and nowadays it is applied to real time locating system(RTLS). The RTLS with chirp signaling was chosen as a standard such as ISO/IEC 24730-5 and IEEE 802.15.4a. In this paper, the performance of a real time locating system with chirp signaling was evaluated and simulated with relative distance error rates. We considered three cases of S/I = -30[dB], -20[dB], and -10[dB] with Rician factor K=10 and K=20. The performance was enhanced with K factor improvement by 25%, 27% and 50% for respective three cases of S/I. As results, in case of S/I < -20[dB], the minimum signal power is required for performance improvement even though the line of sight component is helpful. And also, in case of S/I ${\geq}$ -20[dB], as the line of sight component is stronger the better performance is obtained.

Packet Interference and Aggregated Throughput of Bluetooth Piconets Using an Adaptive Frequency Hopping in Rician Fading Channels (라이시안 페이딩 채널에서 AFH알고리즘을 사용하는 블루투스 피코넷의 패킷 간섭과 통합 처리량 분석)

  • In this paper we analyze the packet interference probability and the aggregated throughput of a WPAN in which a number of Bluetooth piconets share the ISM band with WLANS. Using an Adaptive Frequency Hopping algorithm, when the AFH is employed, the number of hops available to the Bluetooth piconets varies depending on the number of independent WLANs within the piconet's radio range. Using a packet collision model in a piconet cluster, we give an analysis of the packet interference probability and the aggregated throughput as a function of the available hops for the AFH algorithm. We also present an analytical model of packet interference with multi-path fading channel in a cluster of piconets. Through analysis, we obtain the packet collision probability and aggregated throughput assuming capture effect. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effect of various Parameters such as capture ratio, Rice factor and cluster size on the system performance.

  • Due to the rapid increase in demand for transportation of human and freight in modern railway systems, the CBTC system has been proposed, which is the solution for improvement of the line capacity that has been limited by the conventional track circuit based train control system. In the CBTC system, higher reliability of the communication system should be guaranteed for the safety of passengers and trains. However, due to the inherent characteristics of the wireless channel environment, performance degradations are inevitable. The diversity techniques can increase the reliability of data transmission using multiple antennas. In this paper, we investigate the performance of the STBC in the railway channel environment. Rician fading model is used for the viaduct scenarios which take important roles in the railway system. Also, considered is the Doppler effect which is an important factor in the mobile communication system. Simulations are performed to analyze the performance of the STBC in various channel environments. Results show that the performance degradation due to the phase error in viaduct scenarios is independent of the diversity order but is affected by the constellation of the modulation.

  • We present in this paper the ture union bound of the performance of chip level detection for coded DS/CDMA system operating in Rician fading channels such as LEO satellite mobile radio where the maximum doppler frequency is very high. The main objective of this paper is to calculate the exact doe union bound of BER performance of different performance of different quadrature detectors and to find a optimum spreading factor as a function of fade rate. The rationale of using multiple chip detection is to reduce the effective fade rate or variation. We considered chip level differential detection, chip level maximum likelihood sequence estimation, noncoherent detection and coherent detection with perfect channel state information as a reference.

Measurement-Based Stochastic Cross-Correlation Models of a Multilink Channel in Cooperative Communication Environments

  • In this paper, stochastic models for the cross-correlation of multiple channels are established based on measurement data collected using a wideband multiple-input multiple-output relay Band Exploration and Channel Sounder system at 3.7 GHz. We propose models for the cross-correlation characteristics of large-scale parameters (LSPs) between two links, that is, the base station and mobile station (MS) link and the relay station and MS link. The LSPs include shadow fading, Rician K-factor, delay spread, angle spread of arrival, and angle spread of departure. Furthermore, models are established for the cross-correlation of the small-scale fading in the impulse responses of two links. The statistics of these model parameters are investigated as functions of geometrical features of the multilink. They are extracted from a large amount of cross-correlation observations, which are obtained in three measurement sites along more than one hundred measurement routes. These models can be used together with the standard single-link channel models for the generation of correlated components, for example, path clusters, in two separate channels.

  • This paper presents the error performance of 16 star-QAM with diversity reception in microcell systems in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN) and cochannel interference. The differential detection of 16 star-QAM is split into phase detection and amplitude detection. This technique can reduce the degradation of error performance which is due to fading and the complexity of receiver. Diversity reception is proposed to improve the degradation of error performance due to fading. Equal gain and maximal ratio combinings were adopted for the phase detection and the amplitude detection, respectively. The performance of 16 star-QAM was evaluated for various of Rician factor K, maximum Doppler frequency f_DT, signal to cochannel interference ratio and diversity branch L.
