Effect of Different Substrates and Casing Materials on the Growth and Yield of Calocybe indica

  • Calocybe indica, a tropical edible mushroom, is popular because it has good nutritive value and it can be cultivated commercially. The current investigation was undertaken to determine a suitable substrate and the appropriate thickness of casing materials for the cultivation of C. indica. Optimum mycelial growth was observed in coconut coir substrate. Primordia initiation with the different substrates and casing materials was observed between the 13th and 19th day. The maximum length of stalk was recorded from sugarcane leaf, while diameter of stalk and pileus, and thickness of pileus were found in rice straw substrate. The highest biological and economic yield, and biological efficiency were also obtained in the rice straw substrate. Cow dung and loamy soil, farm-yard manure, loamy soil and sand, and spent oyster mushroom substrates were used as casing materials to evaluate the yield and yield-contributing characteristics of C. indica. The results indicate that the number of effective fruiting bodies, the biological and economic yield, and the biological efficiency were statistically similar all of the casing materials used. The maximum biological efficiency was found in the cow dung and loamy soil casing material. The cow dung and loamy soil (3 cm thick) was the best casing material and the rice straw was the best substrate for the commercial cultivation of C. indica.

벼줄기의 크리이프 거동(擧動)에 관한 연구 (Studies on Creep Behavior for Rice Stalks)

  • 기계화농업에서 농작물은 재배관리, 수확 및 가공과정에서 기계와 접촉하면서 기계로부터 순간적인 하중 및 지속적으로 받는 하중과 같은 여러 종류의 하중을 받아 변형되거나 파괴로 손상되는 등의 결과가 발생한다. 즉 기계작업 과정에서 작물은 파괴도 일어날 수 있으므로 작물의 물성에 따라 기계가 적응하면서 작업이 수행되어야 질적인 작업능율을 높일 수 있게 된다. 본 연구는 재배 및 수확과정에서 기계로부터 받는 벼 줄기의 역학적 특성의 구명을 위하여 크리이프 시험장치를 설계 제작하여 컴퓨터 측정장치를 구성, Burger모형(模型)에 의하여 수확시기에 측방향(側方向)의 압축하중 및 휨하중을 받는 벼 줄기의 크리이프 특성(特性)을 측정(測定) 분석(分析)하였다. 결과를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 크리이프 거동은 4요소 Burger모형(模型)에 의하여 벼줄기의 크리이프거동을 정확히 예측(豫測)할 수 있었으며, 예측한 결과는 실측치에 거의 일치하였다. 2. 압축하중의 크기가 증가함에 따라 크리이프 변형량은 증가하는 경향이었는데, 25N 이하의 낮은 하중에서 정상상태 크리이프거동을 하였고, 30N 이상의 높은 하중에서 대수적 크리이프거동을 하였다. 3. 작용하중에 따른 크리이프거동을 나타내는 모형의 계수를 구하였는데 순간탄성계수 $E_0$ 및 지연시간 ${\tau}_K$는 작용하중의 증가에 따라 증가하였고, 지연탄성계수 $E_r$ 및 점성계수 ${\eta}_v$는 작용하중 증가에 따라 감소하는 점탄성(粘彈性) 재료(材料)임을 확인할 수 있었다. 4. 측방향 압축 하중이 25.0 N 이상 작용할 때 줄기 중부 및 상부에서 정상상태(定常狀態) 크리이프가 일어나, 하중의 작용시 줄기 부위(部位)에 따른 저항력은 하부(下部)에서 가장 컸고, 중부(中部)에서 가장 작게 나타나 파손 가능성이 높은 것으로 판단된다. 5. 압축하중 및 휨하중의 작용에 의한 줄기 부위에 따른 크리이프변형은 줄기 중부(中部)에서 가장 크게 일어났고, 하부(下部)에서 가장 작게 일어나 중부의 저항력이 가장 낮게 나타났다.

콤바인 예취날의 형상이 볏짚절단저항에 미치는 영향 (An effect of the shape of cutting blade on cutting resistance of rice stalk)

  • 본 연구는 예취시 벼 줄기의 절단 저항이 적은 콤바인 예취날 개발에 필요한 기초 자료를 제공하기위하여 예취날의 윗날 내부에 면적 $75mm^2$의 평면 홈을 가공한 개발날과 시중에 판매되는 예취날을 사용하여 절단속도비와 볏짚의 함수율을 인자로 미예취시 예취날의 구동 마찰저항과 예취저항을 측정한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 예취날 속도 0.37m/s에서 0.55m/s범위 내에서 단날 구동시의 예취날 구동 마찰저항은 홈 가공을 한 개발 날이 평균 $0.12kg{\cdot}m$로 홈 가공을 하지 않은 기존 날의 평균 $0.16kg{\cdot}m$에 비해 25% 낮게 나타났다. 또한 양날 구동방식에서도 홈 가공을 한 개발말이 기존날에 비해 평균 26%정도 구동 마찰저항이 낮게 나타났다. 2. 절단속도비 10.에서 1.5범위 내에서 홈을 가공한 개발날의 볏짚 예취 저항은 기존 날에 비해 볏짚의 함수율 14.2%, 55.3%, 84.2%에 대해 각각 평균 12%, 15%, 20% 낮게 나타났다. 3. 예취날 구동 방식에 따른 볏짚 예취 저항은 양날구동방식이 $0.20kg{\cdot}m$로 단날 구동방식의 $0.24kg{\cdot}m$에 비해 평균 17%정도 낮게 나타났다. 4. 예취날의 최적 속도비는 볏짚의 함수율 변화에 따라 다르게 나타났으며 함수율 14.2%, 84.2%에 대해 각각 1.2, 1.4로 나타났다.

The Use of Sugarcane Stalk for Feeding Lactating Cows

  • The use of chopped sugarcane stalk (CSS) as a roughage for lactating cows was examined using four Holstein crossbred cows in a private dairy farm in Khon Kaen, Thailand, in comparison with rice straw (RS), which is the conventional roughage in the dry season in the region. Cows were subjected to the following two dietary treatments: Diet 1) RS with commercial concentrate feed, and Diet 2) CSS and RS with commercial concentrate feed. The diet was switched over every 3 weeks. The amount of concentrate was determined by the experience of the owner of the cows. RS and CSS were given ad libitum. There was no difference in milk production between two groups, although the total DMI was less in cows fed CSS. Solid-not-fat (SNF) content in milk was significantly higher in the cows given CSS. The NEFA content was significantly lower in the animals given CSS, which suggested that cows given only RS as roughage would be suffering from energy malnutrition. Therefore, it was considered that CSS feeding improved energy supply, which resulted in higher SNF in milk. In the nutritional point of view, the present study clearly showed CSS can be used as a roughage for dairy cows in the dry season.

Influence of Different Supplements on the Commercial Cultivation of Milky White Mushroom

  • Calocybe indica, known as milky white mushroom, grows and cultivated in the sub-tropical and temperate zones of South Asia. We investigated the most suitable supplements and their levels for the commercial cultivation of milky white mushroom. Rice bran, maize powder, and wheat bran with their different levels (10, 20, 30, 40, and 50%) were used as supplements to evaluate the yield and yield contributing characteristics of C. indica. Primordia initiation was observed between 13.5 and 19.3 days. The results indicated that the 30% maize powder supplement was effective for producing viable fruiting bodies. The maximum diameters of the pileus and stalk were observed with 30% maize powder. The highest biological and economic yield and biological efficiency were also obtained with 30% maize powder as a supplement. The results indicate that increasing the supplement level resulted in less biological efficiency, and that 30% maize powder was the best supplement level for rice straw substrate to cultivate milky white mushrooms.

  • 한국식목질과 포틀랜드 시멘트(Type I)로 건축재개발가능성을 구명하기 위하여 소나무, 리기다 소나무, 잣나무, 일본잎갈나무, 현사시나무 목질과 왕겨 및 볏짚과 포틀랜드 시멘트 그리고 물과 혼합하여 24시간동알 수화열을 측정하고 수화억제지수를 산출한 바 리기다 소나무와 소나무가 한정된 조건하에서 목질-시멘트 복합체에 적절한 수종이며, 열수추출 수행하면 경화억제지수가 개선되어 왕겨, 잣나무, 일본잎갈나무는 한정된 조건하에서 적절한 수종이고 열수추출과 경화촉진제와 염화칼슘이나 염화마그네슘을 경울하면 현사시나무 일본 잎 갈나무도 리기다 소나무와 아울러 우수한 수종으로 판명되었다.

학교급식 메뉴에 대한 고등학생들의 기호도와 만족도에 관한 연구 -경주지역을 중심으로- (A Study on the Preference and Satisfaction on the Menu of School Lunch Service of High School Students in Gyeongju Area)

  • This study was performed by questionnaire to investigate the preference and satisfaction on the menu of school foodservice of high school students. This study aims at providing useful information to establish subdivided menu developing direction. The subjects were consisted of 637 high school students(435 males and 202 females, 5 direct type schools and 5 trust type schools) in Gyeongju area. The results of this study were: The preferred school foodservice menu of subjects was 'seasoned roast chicken', 'steamed pork rib', 'beef rib soup', 'yogurt', 'sandwiches', 'boiled rice with assorted mixtures', 'boiled rice', 'watermelon', 'spaghetti' in that other. On the other hand, the preference for 'spinach soybean soup', 'steamed Mideodeok', 'boiled lotus root', 'roasted sweetpotato stalk', 'chopped and seasoned cucumber' was very low. Males favoured rice and meats, while females liked better noodles and vegetables. Direct type foodservice students' preference scores were higher than those of type foodservice students in side dish menu categories. The preferred and satisfied menu of subjects was meats and sweet foods, and but the preference and satisfaction for vegetables and tough foods was very low.

Genetic Diversity of Fusarium proliferatum Populations from Maize, Onion, Rice and Sugarcane in Iran Based on Vegetative Compatibility Grouping

  • Fusarium proliferatum is the causal agent of stalk and root rot disease of maize, foot rot disease of rice, basal and root rot disease of onion and knife cut disease of sugarcane in Iran. In recent years, incidence and severity of these diseases have been increased in Iran. Fifty seven F. proliferatum single-spore isolates collected from diseased maize, rice, onion and sugarcane plants at different areas were used to study genetic diversity by determination of vegetative compatibility groups (VCGs). Chlorate-resistant nitrate non-utilizing (nit) mutants were recovered from selected isolates of F. proliferatum and used in complementation tests. All isolates in which both nit1 and NitM (or nit3) mutants were recovered, demonstrated self-compatibility. Vegetative compatibility tests by pairing nit mutants identified 30 VCGs among 57 isolates. Twenty-three isolates belonged to singlemember VCGs and the remaining 34 isolates, belonged to other seven multimember VCGs. Segregation of F. proliferatum isolates obtained from various area and host plants into different VCGs in Iran is reported for the first time. In this study, none of isolates obtained from rice complemented with any other isolates from onion and sugarcane and, non complementation occurred between onion and sugarcane isolates. Also, only one complementation occurred between one isolate of maize and one isolate of sugarcane and rice. Thus, a correlation between VCGs grouping and host preferences was founded. It is concluded that natural populations of F. proliferatum in Iran are probably genetically divergent and include isolates representing a potential risk for disease development.

한발기에 있어서 용수관리 방법이 수도생육과 그 수량에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Research on the Effect of the Control Methods of Irrigation Water on the Growth and Yield of Paddy Rice.)

  • 본 시험은 한발시기를 이앙적기연한발구와 적기이앙직후한발구 그리고 유수형성기한발구별로 처리하고 한천일수를 10일, 20일, 30일간 단수했을 때의 벼 생육과 수량에 미치는 영향을 구명하였다. 가. 기상상항은 평년에 비해 일반적으로 성화에 비가 많았고 일조시간은 적었으며 온도는 비슷한 편으로 벼 작항에는 별차이가 없었다. 나. 관개수질은 중성으로 양호하였다. 다. 본 시험포의 토질은 비옥토가 양호한 편으로 일반 답토양과 비슷한 성질의 것이었다. 라. 분얼기의 생육상항은 하발 유형별로 보면 이앙적기지연한발구가 다른 처리구에 비해 초장은 가장 부량하였으나 분얼수는 가장 많았고 이앙직후한발구에서 분얼수가 가장 적었다. 한천일수별에 있어서는 일반적으로 한천일수가 길수록 초장 분얼수가 현저히 부량하였다. 마. 출수상항은 이앙지연한발구가 다른 처리구에 비해 $1{\sim}2$일정도 늦은 경향이었다. 하천일수별에 있어서는 일정한 경향이 없었다. 바. 성숙기의 생육 및 수량상항에서 한발시기별을 보면 이앙직후 한발구가 다른 처리구에 비해 양호하였고 유수형성기한발구가 가장 부량하였다. 한천일수별에 있어서는 한천일수가 길수록 생육 및 수량이 현저히 감소되었다.

여자고등학생의 김치 섭취, 기호도 및 이용 실태 (The Intake, Preference, and Utilization of Kimchi in Female High School Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the intake, preference, and utilization of kimchi in female high school students. A questionnaire was used as the instrument of investigation. The subjects were 371 female high school students in Chonbuk province. More than 80% of the subjects had eaten 8 kinds of kimchies Korean cabbage kimchi, cubed radish kimchi, radish leaves kimchi, green onion kimchi, salted cucumber, watery radish kimchi, radish root & leaves kimchi, and Korean wild radish kimchi. The subjects living in urban areas ate more stalk of sweet potato kimchi and leaf mustard kimchi, however the subjects living in rural areas ate more sedum kimchi. The subjects in large families ate more leaf mustard kimchi and sedum kimchi. The preferred kinds of kimchi were radish kimchi, Korean cabbage kimchi, cubed radish kimchi, and cucumber radish kimchi. Seventy-four point four percent of the subjects liked kimchi, whereas 1.6% of them disliked it. The reason eating kimchi was 'custom'(59.0%), 'taste'(30.7%), 'nutrition'(4.3%), 'traditional flod'(2.7%), and 'parents advice'(2.7%). 38.4% of the subjects in urban area ate kimchi for taste whereas 25.0% of them in rural area did. They prefefrred 'well fermented', 'hot', and 'very pungent' kimchi. The preferred dishes made with kimchi were stir-fried rice with kimchi, kimchi stew, pan-fried kimchi, and rice with bean sprouts & kimchi.
