  • Foaming of slag is a thermodynamically unstable phenomenon and has significant effects in iron and steelmaking processes. For better recycling method of pulp sludge, the application as an defoaming agent during steelmaking process was adopted and tested. The forming machine has been modified in order to produce the briquettes, which are made of pulp sludge and slag with different weight ratio. Influencing factors on the foaming phenomena have been studied and tested for better understanding of foaming phenomena. Experiments were carried out with $CaO-FeO-SiO_2$ based slags with Ar gas injection and addition of coke particles. The slag basicity and (%FeO) contents adapted as major factors to treasure foaming tendency of the slag system. It was found that foam index (${\Sigma}$) gradually decreased as both the basicity and the (FeO) content increase. Four kinds of antifoaming agent such as aluminium dross, cokes, rice bran and pulp sludge with steelmaking slag have been tested in actual process. Aluminium dross was the most effective, and pulp sludge with steelmaking slag also showed the desired results.

  • 본 연구는 벼 군락의 분광반사율 지표를 측정할 수 있는 인공광원을 사용하는 능동형 광학 센서인 GNDVI 를 활용하여 생육시기별 식생지수와 엽 질소함량과의 관계를 구명하여 벼 군락의 엽 질소함량을 추정하고자 하였다. 농업과학기술원 답작 포장에서 공시품 종인 추청벼를 이용하여 난괴법 3반복으로 시험구 배치를 하고 질소 4수준 3반복으로 실험을 수행하였다. 벼 생육시기별 GNDVI 와 엽 질소함량과의 관계를 2년 간 (2005, 2006)의 자료를 통하여 분석해 보았다. 2005년의 경우 벼 생육시기동안 9시기의 GNDVI값과 그 당시 시료를 샘플링하여 분석한 엽 질소함량과의 관계를 벼 출수전과 출수후로 구분하여 분석해 본 결과 GNDVI 값은 출수전 ($r=0.78^{***}$ n=60) 보다 출수후 ($r=0.89^{***}$, n=59) 가 엽 질소함량과의 상관계수가 높았다. 2006년은 20시기동 안 생육시기별 식생지수와 엽 질소함량과의 상관 분석한 결과 착근기 (6월 5일) $r=0.84^{***}$, 유수분화기 (7월 11일) $r=0.95^{***}$, 출수기 (8 월 16일) $r=0.87^{***}$, 수확기 (10월 13일) $r=0.90^{***}$ 으로 출수전의 경우 7월 11일이 상관계수가 가장 높았고, 이 결과는 2005년 동일시기 (7월 11일) 식생지수와 벼 엽 질소함량과의 상관계수가 가장 높았던 ($r=0.91^{***}$) 것과 일치하였다. 벼 생육시기 변화에 따른 식생지수와 엽 질소 흡수량과의 관계를 살펴보았는데 벼 출수전의 경우 GNDVI는 7월 11일 에 엽 질소 흡수량과의 상관계수 ($r=93^{***}$)가 가장 높은 결과를 보였고 출수후의 경우에는 시기에 따라 상관계수가 고르게 높게 나타났다. 엽 질소함량과의 상관관계가 높았던 2005년,2006년 7월 11일 식생지수 데이터를 함께 이용하여 엽 질소함량과의 관계를 추정식으로 작성하였다. GNDVI를 이용하여 2005년과 2006년 실측한 엽 질소함량 값과 추정 값을 비교해 본 결과 2005년과 2006년의 결정계수가 각각 0.88, 0.94로 2006년이 더 예측률이 높게 나타났다. GNDVI 값을 이용하여 엽 질소함량 추정값과 실측값을 비교해 본 결과 결정계수가 0.86으로 추정값과 실측값이 근접하게 분포하였다.

Studies on the Quality Evaluation and Metal Content of Sanitary Canned Kamju Beverage (위생캔으로 제조한 감주 음료의 품질 평가와 금속물질 함량에 관한 연구)

  • In order to improve the quality of Kamju(sikhae), Korean traditional sweat fermentated rice drink, Kamju made with laboratory fermenting from both covered barley malt and that added to commercial $\alpha-amylase$ and commercial sikhae can were investigated and analyzed ad follows 1. The amylase activities in L-malt(laboraory made malt), C-malt(commercial malt) were 25,065 units, 20,498 units at $60^{\circ}C$ and when heating at $60^{\circ}C$ for one hour their heat stability was getting lower and while at $70^{\circ}C$ after 2 hours both their heat stability was under 21%. 2. The external appearance, of all samples, in beating test, flipper, springer and leaker test were excellent and good valued. On the open test of sample can, head space was 7.9~9.0mm, net weight 247~250g, 432~435g, pH 4.96-5.76, Brix 13.2~14.0 and vacuum degree was 29~35cmHg. 3. The sucrose content of sample 1~5 was 8,57~10.01% highest ammount than sample 6(0.91%) 7(0.43%) and maltose content of sample 1~5 was 0.65~1.41% lower than 6 was 7.91% and 7 was 8,36%. The good traditional flavor texture and saccharides components content of glucose of sample 1~5 was 1.09~1.51, 6(3.86%), 7(3.97%), fructose content of sample 1~5 was 0.45~0.95%, 6(2.76%), 7(2.81%), maltotriose and raffinose of sample 1~5 were 0.04~0.291, 6(0.61%), 7(2.81%), and solid content of sample 1~5(3.1~3.8) was lower than 6(10.25%), 7(10.09%). 4. The result of sensory test as measured as lemone yellow of sample 6 and milky of sample 7, and weetness, flavor, color, traditional texture and sensory value for sample 1~5(3.1~3.8) was lower degree than that for 6(4.5), 7(4.0). 5. Among the heavy metals analyzed from sample cans, tin, iron and lead content for sample 1~5 were 31.95~36.71ppm, 5.84~6.39ppm and 0.075~0.09ppm while their content of sample 6.7, tin, 32.91ppm, 32.87ppm, iron 5.51ppm, 5.41ppm and lead, 0.074ppm, 0.079ppm.

Favorable Condition of Culture and Sclerotial Formation by Inonotus obliquus (차가버섯(Inonotus obliquus)의 배양조건과 균핵 형성)

  • Altogether twenty isolates were collected from Wakayama, Japan. The optimum mycelial growth of I. obliquus was observed in BMYA and MCM. The optimum temperature and pH for the mycelial growth were $25^{\circ}C\;and\;6.0{\sim}7.0$, respectively. The optimum carbon and nitrogen sources were dextrose and yeast extract, respectively. Similarly, the optimum mineral salt was $K_{2}HPO_{4}$. The optimum number of mycelial discs for the mycelial growth was $6{\sim}7$ per 100 ml. Similarly, the optimum culture period was $21{\sim}22$ days in liquid broth. The optimum brown rice : water ratio was 1 : 1. No difference in mycelial growth was observed in all the four types of tree stumps used.

  • The growth, development, and morphological characteristics of Echinochtoa colons (L.) Link were determined through one life cycle. E. colons emerged 2 to 3 days after seeding (DAS) and reached the two leaf stage by 8 DAS. During the early growth stages, root length was greater than plant height, but the relationship was reversed from 4 weeks after seeding (WAS). Tillering started from the third leaf of the main culm as the sixth leaf on the main calm emerged. The unfolding of the leaves and tillering followed a regular pattern during the vegetative growth period. This resulted in the production of 19 tillers (5 primary, 12 secondary, 1 tertiary, and I nodal) at the 14-leaf stage. Shoot-root weight ratio was highest just before panicle initiation. The second spike from the top of the panicle was the shortest and produced the fewest seeds. Thereafter, spike length and the number of seeds per spike generally increased, the lower the position of the spike on the panicle. Seeds on the lower spikes weighed less and had lower germination ability than those from the upper spikes. Adventitious roots arose from the leaf sheath bases of a flowering stalk. The ability to produce adventitious roots was greater in a younger stalls than in an older stalk.

  • As a fundamental study to control Alopeuclus aequalis Sobol. var. amurensis(Kom.) Ohwi., on dominant weed in barley and dry seeded rice cultivation on paddy fields, several factors which would have closer relations to its germination and emergence, were examined. The results are as follows. The dormancy of seeds were broken at dry-heat treatment of $30^{\circ}C$. The germination rate of the seeds was high in order of 15>10>20> $5^{\circ}C$ and was very low at more than $25^{\circ}C$. The emergence of A. aequalis was influenced little for the light, but had a tendency to be good on the dark condition. The seeds dried on room temperature germinated few but them treated on $30^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours were germinated over 80%. The A. aequalis occured few in the saline soil of salt concentration of more than 0.25% and the germination rate of seeds was very low on the over 0.5% solution of NaCl. On the solution of pH 6.0~12.0, the germination was not effected for pH but was very few on pH 2.0. At the paddy-lowland which have cultivated the soybean for three years A. aequalis emerged a few.

Biological Properties of Benfuresate and Cinosulfuron for Chemical Control of Eleocharis kuroguwai Ohwi (올방개 방제용(防除用) 제초제(除草劑) Benfuresate와 Cinosulfuron의 생물적(生物的) 특성(特性) 비교(比較))

  • In order to compare the biological properties of benfuresate and cinosulfuron as herbicides for the chemical control of Eleocharis kuroguwai, some experiments were conducted at greenhouse and field conditions in 1993. Benfuresate and cinosufuron moved to 2cm and 6cm deep in paddy soil and inhibited the growth of E. kuroguwai. Benfuresate was absorbed into the roots of E. kuroguwai. whereas cinosulfuron was absorbed into not only the roots and shoots but also the mesocotyls. After the emergence was inhibited by the soil application of herbicides, the percentage of regrowing numbers was higher at cinosulfuron than at benfuresate, whereas the growth rate was higher at benfuresate on the contrary. Benfuresate brought about complete death of buds as a killing type, but cinosulfuron produced lots of abnormal shoots as an inhibiting type. Benfuresate was able to apply on soil surface from the preemergence to the early stage of 2cm high, but cinosulfuron was able to use from the preemergence to the stage of 15cm high. The foliar application of cinosulfuron showed a good control effect, but it induced a severe phytotoxicity to rice. A good control effect of Benfuresate/bensulfuron GR lowered at the late stage, but that of cinosulfuron/mefenacet/dymron GR at the early stage maintained until the late stage of 65 days after transplanting.

Selective Mechanism of Oxvfluorfen and Chlormethoxynil in Crops and Weed Species (Oxyfluorfen과 Chlormethoxynil의 선택작용성(選擇作用性))

  • The germination and the nutrient culture tests in the growth chamber and pot experiment under two types of soil conditions were conducted to determine the selectivity of oxyfluorfen and chlormethoxynil in crops and weeds and for characterization of selective mode of action, the absorption study was also conducted with different absorption methods and application time using $^{14}C$-oxyfluorfen. Oxyfluorfen showed more growth inhibitory effects than chlormethoxynil. In the nutrient culture test, rice growth was greatly inhibited at 2-leaf stage than at 4-leaf stage, and the shoot parts were more inhibited than the root parts. By preemergence application of both herbicides, higher growth inhibition was observed in sandy loam soil than in clay loam soil. Absorption and translocation of $^{14}C$-oxyfluorfen were higher by foliar application than by root treatment, and selectivity of crops and weed species may be explained partly by the amount of absorption.

Physiological Effects of TOPE, a Photo - independent Diphenylether, on Higher Plants (비광요구형 디페닐에테르계 TOPE 의 생리적 작용에 관한 연구)

  • Several physiological responses were investigated in plants treated with TOPE as a preliminary step to know its action site. Unlike photo-dependent diphenylethers, herbicidal activity of TOPE appeared slowly and its typical symptoms were both burning of leaf blades and abnormal division of meristem in grasses, Similarly, both leakage of cell electrolytes and the curling of cotyledon margin were also shown in cucumber(Cucumis sativus L.). Biosynthesis of chlorophyll in etiolated cucumber cotyledon was not inhibited directly by treatment of TOPE at low light intensity(5.5${\mu}$ mol $m^{-2}s^{-1}$ PAR) and protoporphyrin IX was not also accumulated. The contents of phytoene, phytofluene and ${\beta}$-carotene were abnormaly increased. Photosynthesis was inhibited only at high concentration. Mitochondrial respiration was inhibited at high concentration but rather increased significantly at 10${\mu}$M of TOPE. However, respiration inhibitors did not alleviate the two symptoms of TOPE in cucumber cotyledon. In the same experiments, using inhibitors of protein or nucleic acid biosynthesis, only one of the two symptoms was alleviated by chloramphenicol and cycloheximide. In contrast, both symptoms were alleviated by actinomycin-D and hydroxyurea, suggesting that nucleic acid metabolism might be preferentially related to the mode of action of TOPE. DNA, RNA and protein contents were accumulated in both cucumber cotyledon and rice (Oryza sativa L.) routs treated with TOPE, and the DNA of them was increased at first. Thus, it is conjectured that TOPE increase nucleic acid metabolism directly or indirectly, and then disturb various metabolic pathways causing abnormal physiological and morphological effects followed by final death.

The Change Analysis of Plant Diversity in Protected Horticulture of Agricultural Ecosystems (시설원예단지 조성이 농업생태계의 식생다양성에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • Although the ecosystem extends numerous functions for the benefit of humankind, construction of horticultural facilities can potentially lead to the degeneration of some of these functions owing to the expansion of impervious regions and loss of habitats. Thus, this study aimed to examine the effect of construction of horticultural facilities on plant biodiversity. Analysis of the vegetation distribution characteristics showed that horticultural facilities had significantly lower plant diversity than did rice paddies. Hence, the proposed approach involved low-impact development, arrangement of habitat space, plant preservation, restricted use of chemical fertilizer, habitat creation, and reduced preservation cost. Lifestyle analysis suggested the importance of developing favorable environments for the growth of annual plants and aquatic plants. In all, 20 species of naturalized plants belonging to 10 families were identified. Furthermore, the proportion of these naturalized plants was higher in glass greenhouses and multi-span greenhouses, suggesting the advantages of employing natural soil mulching while avoiding concrete mulching. Statistical analysis was performed to validate the results, which suggested that impervious regions be converted to natural soils. Collectively, the findings of this study are expected to be used for establishing policies for the construction of eco-friendly and ecological horticultural facilities; this may aid the maintenance of sustainable agricultural landscapes and large-scale development of the reclaimed lands.
