  • This paper discusses the importance of indoor air quality based on literaure review of domestic and foreign studies. A number of international efforts to propose standards and guidelines for indoor environmental quality are also reviewed. The pattern of major studies on indoor air quality focussed on characterizaton of gaseous pollutants, particulates, and other specific pollutants during the past decades, whereas VOCs, specific carcinogen, and microbiological agents might be good target pollutants to investigate the effects of human health in recent years. Management of indoor air quality requires a different approach than that adopted for outdoor air. Adequate ventilation of the indoor environment is essential, and a balance between energy conservation and the need for good air quality is required. The ways for managing indoor air quality that will be of great importance are discussed a role of control policy for guidance on how to achieve good indoor air quality.

  • The purpose of this study is to survey and analyze the general conditions of infants\` apparel brands in Korea, review the sizes and specifications of each brand, analyze the differences and correlations among brands, and thereby, present the reasonable sizes and specifications for infants\` apparels in consideration of domestic and foreign specifications and infants\` health conditions. For this purpose, 13 brands manufacturing the apparels for the infants aged from 0 to 4 were sampled, and their design directors and outside pattern suppliers were surveyed through direct interviews. The collected data were processed for frequencies, mean, median and mode.

  • Oceanography of the Subarctic North Pacific Ocean is reviewed. The submarine topography and the current systems in the region are explained. Recent serial observation data reveals that. though the upper mixed layer of low salinity is relatively thick. the pattern of the property distribution in winter is essencially similar to that in summer. Alaskan Stream Extension Water. which influences the abundance and the location of demersal fishes. extends northward to 58${\circ}$ N Lat in the Bering Sea. A southeastward intrusion of the Bering Borcal Cold Water causes the formation of a sharp oceanic front. where the demersal fishes such as Alaska pollacks and cods arc concentrated. The Alaska pollacks seem to avoid the low salinity water of the Alaskan Coastal Water.

  • Living beings are surrounded by various changes exhibiting periodical rhythms in environment. The environmental changes are imprinted in organisms in various pattern. The phenomena are believed to match the external signal with organisms in order to increase their survival rate. The signals are categorized into circadian, seasonal, and annual cycles. Among the cycles, the circadian rhythm is regarded as the most important factor because its periodicity is in harmony with the levels of melatonin secreted from pineal gland. Melatonin is produced by the absence of light and its presence displays darkness. Melatonin plays various roles in creatures. Therefore, this review is to introduce the diverse potential ability of melatonin in manifold aspects in living organism.

  • This study is an exploratory investigation on how national R&D investments decisions are made in Korea. For developing system dynamic model, we are interested in locating three structural dilemma, occurring with the Korean NIS. In so doing, we intend to devise the ways of ameliorating problems within the NIS investment decision-making process by providing policy implications. We identify delays and side effects during transition periods between different stages of technology innovation by perceiving the switching pattern dynamically, in which form of technologies shifts from one to another stage like paradigm shift, when the R&D investment reaches a certain stock. It is also suggested that the development of strategies is necessary in order to enhance efficiency of technological development process.

  • Trichilemmal carcinoma is a rare malignant neoplasm of the hair follicle from the outer root of the hair follicle sheath. This tumor can be misleading, and a false diagnosis of a squamous cell carcinoma. We report a case of trichilemmal carcinoma with a review of literature. The patient presented with an exophytic well circumscribed nodular mass on the left auricle, which was detected 6 months ago. Histopathologically, the tumor consisted of atypical clear cells which contained abundant glycogen. The tumor cells shows lobular growth pattern with necrosis, foci of trichilemmal keratinization and peripheral pallisading. Total excision and repair with full-thickness skin graft was done with minimal surgical morbidity. The patient has been free of recurrence or metastasis for 8 months.

  • Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) methods have been used extensively in clinical steroid analyses. Evaluating the metabolic ratios of precursors to products by accurate quantification of individual steroid levels in biological samples can reveal the activities of enzymes associated with steroid metabolism. This review article discusses the impact of GC-MS-based steroid profiling on our understanding of the biochemical role of steroids and their metabolic enzymes in hormone-dependent diseases, such as congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), cortisol-mediated hypertension, apparent mineralocorticoid excess (AME), male-pattern baldness, and breast and thyroid cancers. Steroid profiling is a comprehensive analytical technique that can be applied whenever the highest specificity is required and may be a reasonable initial diagnostic approach.

  • The supplementation of mulberry leaves, with the aim of yield, enhancement using vitamins, minerals and other compounds have generally been attended from 1990s and many researches have been conducted. More than 30 different compounds from complementary nutrients have been analyzed and in different regions where different climates various results have been achieved. This review has attempted to discuss the results of different works on enrichment of mulberry leaves with supplementary compound. Generally the most effects of these compounds are in the regions where productive parameters are low. In the areas that follow a normal pattern in economical parameters the enrichment of the leaves havent have significant economical effects.

  • Pentraxin 3 (PTX3) is a soluble pattern recognition receptor (PRR), which is produced by several kinds of cells, such as neutrophils, dendritic cells, macrophages, and epithelial cells. PTX3 is known to play an important protective effect against Aspergillus. Genetic linkage in gene-targeted mice and human PTX3 plays a non-redundant role in the immune protection against specific pathogens, especially Aspergillus. Recent studies have shown that the polymorphism of PTX3 is associated with increased susceptibility to invasive aspergillosis (IA). In this review, we provide an overview of these studies that underline the potential of PTX3 in diagnosis and therapy of IA.
