The inappropriate hydraulic design criteria on the new revetment technique for the ecological river restoration project happens to lead to economic loss during the flood season. In this study, the hydraulic stability of the developed non-toxic revetment was evaluated at a maximum discharge of $3.0m^3/s$ and a maximum velocity of 3.0 m/s in a real scale experimental channel. The vertical movement of the non-toxic revetment block was in the range of ${\pm}3mm$ mm in the experimental conditions. The results show that the non-toxic revetment block was sufficiently hydraulically secured.
This paper discribes the practical application of stability analysis on the revetment structures, and four different sections of revetment structures are considered in this study. As a result of stability analysis, the the section of inclined revetment with T.T.P. block shows the highest safety factor against to the sliding failure of cap concrete block, while the section of inclined revetment with rubble stone shows the highest safety factor against to the straight and circular sliding failure. And the safety factors are increased by increasing of the rigidity of covered materials and by decreasing of the slope angle. For the safety factor of overturnning and bearing capacity, the section of inclined revetment structures shows higher safety factors than the section of vertical structures, and the safety factors are increased by decreasing of the slope angle and by increasing of the bottom width of the structures.

The purpose of this study is to examine the hydraulic stability of non-toxic revetment technique for eco-friendly design of the domestic river restoration. Recently, instead of the flood control function-oriented river management policy for the engineering efficiency, the improvement of the environmental performance for the ecological river restoration project is implemented. However, the inappropriate hydraulic design criteria of the new revetment technique happen to the economic losses at flood season frequently. The hydraulic stability of the riprap and the block include the banks of rivers, riverbed protection, scour protection and so on. In this study, the high speed experimental channel was developed, which has the maximum velocity of 3.5 m/s, to perform the hydraulic experiments of the block method with non-toxic glue with various conditions to find the critical velocity of the revetment block for the hydraulic stability.

This study has analyzed the vegetation composition in the areas using different slope revetment techniques of riverbanks, in a way to improve the vegetation induction in the future considering the ecological aspects of the induction in Garaeyoul Village, Gangdong-gu, Seoul. The result of the vegetation distribution in each different slope revetment technique was analyzed, that the naturalized herb was dominant in the pole block accounting for 70.7%, while native herb was dominant in the lawn block occupying 48.5% and in the crib block occupying 55.7%. The vegetation coverage measured by different slope revetment techniques was highest in the crib block(average 97.5%), followed by the lawn block(average 95.3%) and pole block(average 27.9%). The vegetation base area was the most wide in the crib block and the most narrowest in the pole block. The result of community analysis in areas using different slope revetment techniques, dry herbs and vine herbs were dominated and the coverage was very poor in the pole block. In the lawn block, the barb was fragmented into narrow areas due to the blocks, which prevented the creation of large-scale plant communities. In the crib block, Miscanthus sacchariflorus, Fescue arundinacea and Aster pilosus, which also consisted of large-scale communities. Average dry weight was also measured by each slope revetment technique. The weight was heaviest in the crib block with $187.63g/m^2$, followed by the lawn block($137.65g/m^2$) and pole block($6.75g/m^2$). The soil moisture contents in the crib block and lawn block was 16.3% and 15.2%, respectively, while that of the pole block was 4.7%, which revealed the highly dry condition of the pole block soil. The analysis result of soil chemical property showed that there was little difference in soil texture, soile acidity(pH), and exchangeable ion content, however, the soil organic matter(OM) content and available $P_2O_5$ were highest in the pole block. In the future, in order to induce more vegetation into river banks and walls, a proper construction method should be applied so that the vegetation area can be expanded as much as possible, considering the safety of the banks.
Determination of allowable overtopping rate for coastal structure is a key point to determine the application of background of coastal structure while considering safety and economic efficiency. Thus, the accurate estimation of overtopping rate against coastal structure is essential. In general, estimation of overtopping against the coastal structure is based on an empirical formula or hydraulic experiment. In this study, we investigate the behavior of overtopping for rubble mound coastal structure with rubble armor stone and wave dissipating block using hydraulics experiment, and domestic or foreign design standard.
Aggregate resources in Korea are expected to run out owing to an increase in development demand and construction investment. Recycled concrete aggregates (RCA), extracted from waste concrete, have a lower quality than natural aggregates. However, RCA can produce concrete similar in quality to the normal concrete by aggregate pretreatment, use of admixtures, and quality control. RCA are most suitable for use in precast concrete products such as sidewalk blocks and revetment blocks. Herein, the feasibility of producing revetment blocks using recycled aggregate concrete (RAC), similar in quality to normal concrete, was analyzed. The amount of RCA was varied, and moderate high early strength cement and steam curing were used to produce the concrete test blocks. In the block test, the load resistance characteristics of the blocks were evaluated to determine optimal RAC and glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) rebar compositions. Thus, the variable that reduced the cement content was determined at the same level as that of natural aggregate concrete by the control of steam curing. In the concrete block test, although this depends on the reinforcement ratio, the RAC block exhibited the same or better performance than a normal concrete block. Therefore, the low quality of RCA in RAC is no longer a problem when concrete mixing and curing are controlled and appropriate reinforcement is used.
A large amount of dredged soils occur in the marine purification project but dredged fine-grained soils have been abandoned as a waste. The standards as filling materials, banking materials, revetment blocks and concrete blocks were surveyed. Through the geotechnical tests of marine dredged fine-grained soils and the alkali-activation reaction, the usability as banking materials, revetment blocks and concrete blocks were analyzed. Dredged sands could be used as banking materials, and dredged fine-grained soils could be used as filling materials. A mixture of dredged fine-grained soils and dredged sands could be used as banking materials. Materials produced by the alkali-activation reaction could be used as a revetment block and a concrete block.
Small streams, despite their rich ecosystems, face challenges in vegetation assessment due to the limitations of traditional, time-consuming methods. This study presents a groundbreaking approach, combining unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs), convolutional neural networks(CNNs), and the vegetation differential vegetation index (VDVI), to revolutionize both assessment and management of stream vegetation. Focusing on Idong Stream in South Korea (2.7 km long, 2.34 km2 basin area)with eight diverse revetment methods, we leveraged high-resolution RGB images captured by UAVs across five dates (July-December). These images trained a ResNeXt101 CNN model, achieving an impressive 89% accuracy in classifying vegetation cover(soil, water, and vegetation). This enabled detailed spatial and temporal analysis of vegetation distribution. Further, VDVI calculations on classified vegetation areas allowed assessment of vegetation vitality. Our key findings showcase the power of this approach:(a) TheCNN model generated highly accurate cover maps, facilitating precise monitoring of vegetation changes overtime and space. (b) August displayed the highest average VDVI(0.24), indicating peak vegetation growth crucial for stabilizing streambanks and resisting flow. (c) Different revetment methods impacted vegetation vitality. Fieldstone sections exhibited initial high vitality followed by decline due to leaf browning. Block-type sections and the control group showed a gradual decline after peak growth. Interestingly, the "H environment block" exhibited minimal change, suggesting potential benefits for specific ecological functions.(d) Despite initial differences, all sections converged in vegetation distribution trends after 15 years due to the influence of surrounding vegetation. This study demonstrates the immense potential of UAV-based remote sensing and CNNs for revolutionizing small-stream vegetation assessment and management. By providing high-resolution, temporally detailed data, this approach offers distinct advantages over traditional methods, ultimately benefiting both the environment and surrounding communities through informed decision-making for improved stream health and ecological conservation.

In this paper, model test on the Tapdong's revetment at Jeju-si has been conducted to figure out the causes of frequent occurrence of wave overtopping and to suggest the action plan. In the model test, the reflection coefficients were measured according to the change of wave periods for with and without armor stones. Also, the wave overtopping rate and the wave pressures inside revetment structure for 4 types of upper block were estimated for various wave heights and wave periods, which are chosen based on the NE design wave with 50 year return period. It is found that the increase of the upper structure's height and the modification of the curved protruding shape are effective in reducing the overtopping rate.
