Preparation of asymmetric polyimide membranes by the phase inversion process was investigated to develop ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis and pervaporation membranes for organic solutions, using a commercially available solvent-soluble polymaide. The influences of the various factors such as the composition of a cast solution, casting conditions, gelating solutions and others on membrane structure and performance were studied in detail, and it was made clear that a wide variety of asymmetric polyimide membranes ranging from UF to RO for organic solutions could be prepared from the aromatic polyimide used. It was also found that the chemical stability and separation performance of the asymmetric polyimide membranes could be improved by annealing in a liquid or a vacuum at above 200$\circ$. The membrane annealed at 300$\circ$ in a vacuum exhibited the separation factor $\alpha(H_2O/EtOH)$ of 900 with the flux of 1.0 kg/$m^2\cdot h$ at 60$\circ$C for an aqueous ethanol solution of 95 vol%.
A voltage-programming pixel circuit, which compensates the threshold voltage shift of TFTs and the degradation of OLED, is proposed for large sized a-Si:H active matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) applications. Considering threshold voltage variation (or shift), OLED degradation and reverse bias annealing, HSPICE simulation results indicate that luminance error of every gray level is less than 0.4 LSB under the condition of +1V threshold voltage shift and from -0.2 LSB to 2.6 LSB within 30% degradation of OLED in the case of 40-inch full HDTV condition.
The structural gene of rabbit hemoglobin was cloned into Pst I site of pBR322 in E. coli. The complementary DNA (cDNA) was synthesized from rabbit globin mRNA with avian myeloblastosis viral reverse transcriptase, and then RNA was destroyed at pH 11. The double stranded cDNA was synthesized with both Klenow fragment of E. coli DNA polymerase I and reverse transcriptase and then the hairpin loop was opened with Sl nuclease. Double stranded cDNA was subsequently tailed with dCTP and annealed to dGMP-tailed vector DNA. After transformation and initial screening of appropriate clones by plasmid size, the cloned colonies were identified by in situ colony hybridization using by plasmid size, the cloned colonies were identified by in situ colony hybridization using $[^32P]$-labeled cDNA probes and characterized the inserts with restriction endonucleases. The expression of cloned globin gene was investigated by standard radioimmunoassay using rat anti-rabbit Hb serum as primary antibody and goat antirat IgG serum as secondary antibody. The result suggested that the chimeric proteins (the part of $\\beta$-lactamase from the vector pBR322 and globin from rabbit) were supposedly produced in E. coli and the product had the antigenic determinant of rabbit hemoglobin.
VvMSA, a grapevine ASR which is highly inducible by sugar and abscisic acid signals was previously shown to be a transcription factor for a hexose transporter gene VvHT1. We isolated a cDNA clone, VlASR which is regulated temporally during the grape berry development by ACP RT-PCR (annealing control primer reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction) and it proved identical to VvMSA. RT-PCR and real-time PCR analyses revealed that the VlASR gene was expressed in berries at fruit set and that its expression increased as berries aged but decreased at the late ripening stage. In order to understand the regulatory mechanism of the asr gene, a genomic fragment was cloned from grapevine. The genomic DNA was 1375 bp long and a sugar box (sucrose box 3 and sucrose responsive element 1) was identified in the 611 bp upstream region of the open reading frame. Analysis of the VlASR promoter::reporter gene fusion demonstrated that this promoter was expressed in transgenic Arabidopsis even without sucrose treatment. This result suggests that the ASR/VvHT1-mediated sugar/ABA signaling, previously reported in grapevine, may not function in Arabidopsis which has no ASR homologue.
Cytokines are important mediators of the immune response, and quantitating cytokine mRNA is a highly sensitive and attractive method for measuring cytokine production. The objective of the current study was to develop and validate a SYBR green quantitative real-time reverse transcriptase PCR (qRT-PCR) assay for measuring canine cytokine mRNA. The optimal annealing temperatures ($T_a$) of the designed primers were $62^{\circ}C$ for interleukin (IL)-$1{\beta}$, IL-6 and IL-10; $60^{\circ}C$ for glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-${\alpha}$; and $58^{\circ}C$ for high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1). Primer efficiencies of all primers calculated for standard curve samples were between 97.1% and 102.6%. No evidence of secondary structure or primer-dimer formation was seen via melt-curve analysis or gel electrophoresis. The developed qRT-PCR assays are highly specific and sensitive and can be used to quantify gene expression levels of canine cytokines.

In this paper, a photodiode capable of obtaining a sufficient photo/ dark current ratio at both a forward bias state and a reverse bias state is proposed. The photodiode includes a glass substrate, an Cr thin film formed as a lower electrode over the glass substrate, Cr silicide thin film(∼l00$\AA$) ) formed as a schottky barrier over the Cr thin film, a hydrogenated amorphous silicon film formed as a photo conduction layer over a portion of the Cr silicide thin film. Transparent conduction film ITO (thickness 100nm) formed as an upper electrode over the hydro-generated amorphous silicon film is then deposited in pure argon at room temperature for the Schottky contact and light window. The high quality Cr silicide thin film using annealing of Cr and a-Si:H is formed and analyzed by experiment. We have obtained the film with a superior characteristics. The dark current of the ITO/a-Si:H Schottky at a reverse bias of -5V is ∼3$\times$IO-12 A/un2, and one of the lowest reported, hitherto. AES(Auger Electron Spectroscophy) measurements indicate that this notable improvement in device characteristics stems from reduced diffusion of oxygen, rather than indium, from the ITO into the a-Si:H layer, thus, preserving the integrity of the Schottky interface. The spectral response of the photodiode for wavelengths in the range from 400nm to 800nm shows the expected behavior whereby the photocurrent is governed by the absorption characteristics of a-Si:H.

The present research investigated copper and cadmium stress-induced differentially expressed genes (DEGs) using annealing control primers (ACP) with the differential display reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction technique in alfalfa (Medicago sativa L. cv. Vernal) leaves. Alfalfa leaves were subjected to $250{\mu}M$ of copper and cadmium treatment for a period of 6 h. A total of 120 ACPs was used. During copper and cadmium treatment, 6 DEGs were found to be up or down regulated. During copper stress treatment, 1 DEG was up-regulated, and 3 novel genes were discovered. Similarly, during cadmium stress treatment, 1 DEG was up-regulated and 5 novel genes were identified. Among all 6 DEGs, DEG-4 was identified as the gene for trans-2,3-enoyl-CoA reductase, DEG-5 was identified as the gene for senescence-associated protein DIN1 and DEG-6 was identified for caffeic acid O-methyltransferase. All the up-regulated genes may play a role in copper and cadmium stress tolerance in alfalfa.

Due to increasing awareness on the treatment of end-of-use/life products, disassembly has been a fast-growing research area of interest for many researchers over recent decades. This paper introduces a novel lot-sizing problem that has not been studied in the literature, which is the service-parts lot-sizing with disassembly option. The disassembly option implies that the demands of service parts can be fulfilled by newly manufactured parts, but also by disassembled parts. The disassembled parts are the ones recovered after the disassembly of end-of-use/life products. The objective of the considered problem is to maximize the total profit, i.e., the revenue of selling the service parts minus the total cost of the fixed setup, production, disassembly, inventory holding, and disposal over a planning horizon. This paper proves that the single-period version of the considered problem is NP-hard and suggests a heuristic by combining a simulated annealing algorithm and a linear-programming relaxation. Computational experiment results show that the heuristic generates near-optimal solutions within reasonable computation time, which implies that the heuristic is a viable optimization tool for the service parts inventory management. In addition, sensitivity analyses indicate that deciding an appropriate price of disassembled parts and an appropriate collection amount of EOLs are very important for sustainable service parts systems.

Macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) is a growth factor required for growth and differentiation of mononuclear phagocyte lineage. Total and 16 poly (A) mRNA of bovine M-CSF were isolated from healthy bovine peripheral mononuclear cells stimulated by phobol 12-myristste 13-acetate (TPA). The more compatible cultured mononuclear cells were 5${\times}$10/ml for RNA isolation. TPA-activated mononuclear cells increased the level of M-CSF-mRNA more than concanavalin A (Con A) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS). The optimal analysis of reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) for14 Macrophage colonystimulating factor (M-CSF) as a growth factor required for bovine M-CSF was denaturation at 94$^{\circ}C$ for 1 minute, annealing at 57$^{\circ}C$ for 1 minute, extension at 72$^{\circ}C$ for 1 minute for 30 cycles. The size of cDNA of bovine M-CSF by RT-PCR was 774 base pairs. A 774 base pairs cDNA encoding bovine M-CSF was synthesized by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Ligated cDNA was transformed to competent cells and then plasmid isolation and digestion was performed. Molecular cloning and sequencing were performed for cDNA of bovine M-CSF. The size of cloned cDNA of bovine M-CSF was 774base pairs. The homology of base sequence and amino acid sequence was 88% and 86% compared with known human M-CSF, respectively. From a high degree of sequence similarity, the obtained cDNA of bovine M-CSF is thought be a specific gene of bovine M-CSF.
To study the specific tools for the diagnosis of Newcastle disease virus (NDV) in chicken, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and its presumable conditions were evaluated for the detection of hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN) gene of NDV RNA. For these purposes, Kyojeongwon strain of the NDV was propagated in allantoic cavity of SPF embryonating chicken eggs, and viral RNA was extracted from fractionated virus after the allantoic fluids were ultracentrifuged with sucrose gradient. The first-strand cDNA was then made for the HN gene of NDV RNA by reverse transcription at $42^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour using specific primer complementary to the HN gene. The single-stranded cDNA was used as template in the PCR of the HN-DNA, and various conditions of the PCR were evaluated to set up method for the specific detection of the HN-DNA. The PCR conditions promising for the detection of HN gene consist of preheating at $94^{\circ}C$, 5 min, 30 cycles of denaturation at $94^{\circ}C$, 1 min, annealing at $55^{\circ}C$, 1 min and polymerization at $72^{\circ}C$, 2 min, and a cycle of extension at $72^{\circ}C$, 5 min. when NDVs of allantoic fluids without fractionation were applied to the above PCR condition, the HN genes were detected effectively not only from Kyojeongwon but from other velogenic strains such as Herts and a field isolate.
