Online search has recently become a popular business research field not only because the search volume is used to predict demand, but also consumer search history is effective to predict product prices and investment returns. This study analyzes the relationship between the Internet search volume of IPO stocks and their post-IPO stock returns in Korean Exchange. We find that the lower the amount of Internet search for stocks before IPO, the higher the stock returns after IPO both in short and long-term. Similar results are shown for excess returns over benchmark stocks. This finding suggests that IPO stocks with low investors' attention based on the Internet search volume may be undervalued.
This paper develops an investment algorithm based on Markowitz's Portfolio Selection Theory, using historical stock return data, and empirically evaluates the performance of the proposed algorithm in the U.S. and the Hong Kong stock markets. The proposed investment algorithm is empirically tested with the 30 constituents of Dow Jones Industrial Average in the U.S. stock market, and the 30 constituents of Hang Seng Index in the Hong Kong stock market. During the 6-year investment period, starting on the first trading day of 2006 and ending on the last trading day of 2011, growth rates of 12.63% and 23.25% were observed for Dow Jones Industrial Average and Hang Seng Index, respectively, while the proposed investment algorithm achieved substantially higher cumulative returns of 35.7% in the U.S. stock market, and 150.62% in the Hong Kong stock market. When compared in terms of Sharpe ratio, Dow Jones Industrial Average and Hang Seng Index achieved 0.075 and 0.155 each, while the proposed investment algorithm showed superior performance, achieving 0.363 and 1.074 in the U.S. and Hong Kong stock markets, respectively. Further, performance in the U.S. stock market is shown to be less sensitive to an investor's risk preference, while aggressive performance goals are shown to achieve relatively higher performance in the Hong Kong stock market. In conclusion, this paper empirically demonstrates that an investment based on a mathematical model using objective historical stock return data for constructing optimal portfolios achieves outstanding performance, in terms of both cumulative returns and Sharpe ratios.

Information has an essential role in decision-making for investors who will invest in financial markets, especially regarding the policies on the condition of COVID-19. The purpose of this study is to determine the market reaction to the information published by the government regarding the policy changes to the provisions of Trading Halt on the IDX in an emergency using the event study method. The population in this study was companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in March 2020; the sample selection technique was purposive sampling. Data analysis used a normality test and one sample T-test. The results of the study found that there were significant abnormal returns on the announcement date, negative abnormal returns around the announcement date, and significant trading volume activity occurring three days after the announcement. The existence of a significant positive abnormal return on the announcement date indicates that the market responds quickly to information published by the government. The practical implication of this research can be taken into consideration for investors in making investment decisions to analyze and determine the right investment options so that investors can minimize the risk of their investment and maximize the profits they want to achieve.

Women are more disadvantaged than men in many fronts and this confines them to informal sector livelihood activities. Any attempt to improve women's economic status will require information on the organization, cost and returns to investment in the livelihood activities in which they predominate. This is the issue for this study which compared yield performance in artisanal fishing and fresh fish marketing. Primary data collected through multi-stage sampling method were analyzed using inferential statistics, budgeting and regression models. Empirical findings revealed that about 75.0% of fisher folks either had no formal education or acquired only primary school education while 50.0% of marketers had secondary school education. The budgeting model revealed fisher-folks' and marketers' annual net profit to be N2,882,626.00 and N640,227.00, respectively. Profit from fishing was significantly higher than that of fish marketing. At 53.2% for fishing and 40.3% for marketing, returns to investment was better in fishing. Regression model results showed the significant factors influencing returns to each livelihood strategy to include fishing ground, distance covered and years of experience. The major constraint faced by operators of both livelihoods groups was insufficient credit. Despite this, the livelihood strategies were shown to be profitable ventures which contributed to households' consumption expenditure. Organizing women informal sector operators into groups to enhance access to government support and formal credit are recommended for improving livelihood strategy performance.
This paper aims to determine factors causing the stagnation of Korean firms' fixed investment after the global financial crisis, using panel data for the period of 1999-2016. Fixed investment remained sensitive to cash flow and Tobin's q although their effects decreased after the global financial crisis. A decreasing trend of cash flow and an increase in Tobin's q since the early 2000's imply that the worsening cash flow was a major factor behind the sluggish investment after the crisis. Meanwhile, debt-equity ratio remained significant for non-chaebol affiliated firms, reflecting disparity in access to external financing. Volatility of stock returns also became insignificant after the crisis, casting doubt on the argument that uncertainty was a major factor contributing to the decline of fixed investment. Analysis of financial investment confirmed the significant effect of cash flow, larger than that on financial investment than on fixed investment. In particular, debt repayment and other financial investment, except share repurchase, were sensitive to cash flow. However, the substitution of fixed investment by financial investment is a consequence, rather than a cause of declining fixed investment.
PURPOSES: This study is to suggest the Contribution of Road Capital in Industry and Optimal Level of Road Investment in South Korea METHODS: Based on the literature review, This research is empirically estimated using disaggregate and disaggregated data composed of 10-sectors covering the entire korea economy for the period 1970~2000. The relevant policy questions addressed in this report are : cost reduction and Scale elasticities of road, effect of road capital stock on demand for labor, capital and materials, marginal effect of road, industry TFP growth decomposition, Net Social Rates of Returns, optimal of road capital. RESULTS : The marginal benefits of the road capital at the industry level were calculated using the estimated cost elasticities. Demand for the road capital services varies across industries as do the marginal effects. The marginal benefits are positive for the principal industries. This suggests that for these industries the existing stock of road capital may be under supplied. CONCLUSIONS: This results emerges is that the ratio of the optimum to actual road capital, measured by road, was high at beginning of the period 1970s and declined 1990s. There appears to be evidence of under-investment in road capital. That is continuous and premeditated investment for road which lead to saving time and finance.

This paper selects 100 IT companies listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange from 2016 to 2020, and the public announcement in Hwajung collects ESG integrated ratings and grades for each sector and empirically verifies the relationship between ESG ratings and stock returns. Huazheng ESG level data and QIANZHAN database Using corporate financial data, a total of 500 samples were selected through correlation analysis and linear regression analysis with SPSS23 to analyze the effect of ESG on Return. As a result of the analysis, first, the impact on stock returns was found to be a significant positive (+) value for ESG integrated ratings and ratings by E (environment), S (social), and G (governance) sectors, confirming that ESG ratings have a positive mold of corporate stock returns. Currently, the world's major economies have proposed sustainable development strategies and "carbon neutral" goals. Development strategies are very consistent with ESG concepts, and companies that agree and execute ESG concepts may have higher ratings than other companies in the same industry, resulting in certain evaluation premiums. In addition, capital market performance in recent years shows that companies with ESG concepts or "carbon neutrality" concepts are generally considered to have higher growth potential and stronger anti-risk capabilities in the market. For listed companies, they should focus on ESG investment, improve ESG performance, and actively disclose related information to investors. Improving ESG performance should deliver positive information to society, enhance corporate image, increase market confidence in the future development of listed companies, and positively improve corporate value to actively increase financial, financial, trading, and other aspects of negotiation.

This research aims to confirm if the COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on existing sectors, and how that affects the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) market returns. The research method used is an event study employing market models in nine sectors of the Exchange with purposive sampling technique, and supported by Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression. Based on the calculation of abnormal returns in the period of 30 days before up to 30 days after, the financial property, real estate, and construction sector results show a decreased abnormal return value. The infrastructure, utilities, and transportation sectors also show an abnormal return value that tends to be constant, while the abnormal return value increases in other sectors. Judging from the cumulative value of abnormal returns, the most affected sector is financials, followed by the trade, service, and investment sectors. The consumer goods and mining industry sectors are still optimistic, while other sectors show temporary negative sentiment. Overall, the stocks on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic with a cumulative negative value of the average abnormal return sample. The results using OLS regression also strengthen the relationships between the COVID-19 pandemic, and negative and significant market returns.

This study examines the socioeconomic returns to agricultural research and extension services in Korea, using multivariate time series technique and Akino-Hyami formula. Results find that the socioeconomic returns are quite competitive in case of agricultural research with 44.82% internal rate of return and very high in case of extension services with 207.82% internal rate of return. Agricultural production responds to the agricultural research shock about four years after the shock. The magnitudes of the impacts increase until a peak is reached nine years after the initial expenditures and the impacts declines to a zero level after about twenty years. This lag lengths are consistent to the usual literature on research, which finds lags of seven to thirty years. Agricultural production responds to an agricultural extension shock immediately and declines to a zero level after about four years. Thus, the lag lengths are much shorter than those by research shock.
