This study explores the retail environment factors of the changes mentioned in the "Factors and Directions of the Change of the Apparel Retail Structure in Korea" (Part I) to understand the changes in apparel retail institutions. This study was done through a literature research method and the results are as follows. First, changing consumer needs and trends require extensive new products, a method to manufacture diverse products according to the market demand, and the necessity to manufacture based on trends in demand. This limits the role of mass production, which brought about more flexible manufacturing modes, scaled down manufacturing factories, promoted more cooperative subcontract relationships, and increased global sourcing which uses other companies at the most appropriate global venue. How to organize and use cooperative networks that benefit companies is the key to global competitiveness in the new era and the information technology developed around retail shops plays a key role. Consequently, the management of consumers and their information becomes critical and retail distribution functions become a key corporate function. In addition, it is difficult for small shops to introduce effective new technologies that encourage the growth of large companies. Second, apparel companies that use to benefit from scale merits based on the previous mass production system are now becoming effective by using economies of scale through mass retailing while shops are enlarging their sizes as a way to survive. On the other hand, inexpensive clothes become even more inexpensive while expensive ones become even more expensive, promoting polarization and diverse price ranges that widen consumer options.

The present paper investigates the technological and conceptional characteristics of peering and transit in internet interconnection. Especially, the market with two ISP competing for customers is modeled and the outcome with peering is compared with transit. This paper also analyze the congestion effects on retail price and network capacity. When there is congestion effects occurring from network sharing, the retail price is increased and the fixed fee is decreased with the degree of congestion. Finally, the optimal access charge assuring the socially optimal retail price and network capacity is derived.
Purpose: As mobile devices are commonly used and contact-free services are widespread due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the recent distribution environment, this study suggests retail strategies for consumers using high-speed railways. To this end, we analyzed how consumer perception on technologies necessary for use of mobile apps is related to the attitude that drives consumers to continue using the app services. Research design, data and methodology: Based on the extended unified theory of technology acceptance and use of technology model by Venkatesh, Morris, Davis and Davis (2003), we added variables proposed by existing theories that studied the technology acceptance model from multiple perspectives and empirically analyzed the relationship between user satisfaction and use intention with structural equation modeling. Results: As expected, factors necessary for the use of app services such as performance expectancy, social influence, price value, facilitating conditions, security, and aesthetics had positive effects on user satisfaction, whereas the effect of effort expectancy on user satisfaction was rejected. And user satisfaction was found to have a significant effect on intention to use. Conclusions: The results provide implications that strategic retail management of the above factors can motivate passengers to continuously use high-speed railways.
Purpose - This study empirically analyses the sale changes in large retail stores directly resulting from increased controls on those stores. More specifically, we discuss the economic impacts on Korean regulations that restrict trading hours and mandate statutory store closure 'holidays' twice per month. Research design, data and methodology - we attempt to empirically analyse the economic effects of trading hours regulations through quantitative analysis of the sales revenue data of large retail stores. We introduce the data and methods of empirical analysis used to analyse the economic effects of trading-hour regulations on large retail stores. We use a panel regression to analyse the sales losses of large retail stores caused by the new constraints on business hours. Results - The results of this study show that the sales of large retail stores fell by the average of 3.4% per month during the regulation periods. However, regulations affecting large retail stores have various economic impacts, including variations in sales, changes in consumption patterns, and influences on consumer welfare and national economy. Conclusions - Such changes may also be captured by other metrics: accordingly, further researches are needed to measure the impact of regulations on economic indicators such as employment and GDP.
The $21^{st}$ century is the age of sentiment and image. As industrial development pushes the demands of consumers for various goods, the marketing patterns of these goods have individualized. They are expressions embedded with various meanings. Retail shops, now going beyond the practical purpose of display and sales of goods, enhancing brand images and establishing a consumer-oriented strategy, play a key role in reacting to and creating overall cultural issues. This study will analyze and investigate the Prada retail shop, which has distinguished its brand image and effectively promoted its identity through a sustained management strategy. The Prada retail shop has established an image of a cultural icon through cultural marketing. It suggests individuality and creativity along with diversity It reflects the basic concepts of cultural marketing, freedom of expression combined with information and high technology. The Prada building symbolizes the brand itself. To foster these kinds of retail shops, data and information based on continuous studies must be provided and shared, and also the systematic reinterpretation and the effective presentation of expressive trends in interior design needs to be studied on an ongoing basis.

This study examines the effect of fintech on retail banks stock return listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period of 2016-2018 as today's new technology lead to the emergence of fintech companies playing the same role as retail banks in the financial industry. This study is conducted quantitatively using monthly data from January 2016 to October 2018 and uses fintech as independent variable, proxied by fintech funding frequency and fintech funding value. Data transformation is conducted due to data volatility. The data of fintech funding, both frequency and value, is transformed into standardized fintech funding and growth of fintech funding. The data is obtained from Crunchbase, while the data of stock returns is obtained from Investing. This study further analyzes the data using Fama French Three-Factor Model and panel data regression. We found that fintech has no significant effect on retail banks' stock returns listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period of 2016-2018. The findings of the study provide some useful insights in understanding fintech companies' current position to retail banks in Indonesia. This study also suggests banking institutions, fintech companies, policy-makers, and others to take advantageous steps in building inclusive financial sectors.
Purpose: The aim of this study is to understand the internal and external responses that consumers experience when they are exposed to an innovative system in retail stores. This study considered the SST(Self-Service Technology) system in a retail setting as a type of functional environmental stimuli and selected a smart shopping cart as an example of SST system. The influences of functional environmental stimuli on consumers' emotional, cognitive, and behavioral responses were examined by applying S-O-R model. In addition, this study attempted to extend the traditional S-O-R model by (a) incorporating personal characteristics variables such as time pressure and perceived crowding and (b) considering not only emotional but also cognitive aspects of consumers' internal responses. Research Design, Data, and Methodology: This study used a video-scenario technique. Participants watched a video about grocery shopping situations using a smart shopping cart and responded to their emotional, cognitive, and behavioral responses. An online survey was conducted using Amazon's Mechanical Turk (N = 185). All participants were US consumers over 20 years old and had been shopping at the grocery store in the last month. Data were analyzed through structural equations modeling with AMOS 20. Results: Test results showed that consumers who perceived higher levels of time pressure and perceived crowding in usual shopping situations were more likely to evaluate the SST system favorably. The results showed that personal characteristics have a significant impact on consumers' evaluation of functional environmental stimuli in retail setting. As consumers evaluated the SST system favorably, they experienced more positive affect and less negative affect during their shopping behaviors. Positive affect led to good service quality inference, which further increased patronize intention. However, negative affect did not show a significant impact on service quality inference, but only on patronize intention. Conclusions: This study attempted to investigate the influence of SST system by extending the traditional S-O-R model. This study classified the SST system as functional environmental stimulus of retail stores and analyzed the effect of stimulus on consumers' internal and external responses. The results of this study showed that the introduction of innovative SST can serve as an effective store differentiation strategy in an increasingly competitive retail environment.
In a demand response (DR) market run by independent system operators (ISOs), load aggregators are important market participants who aggregate small retail customers through various DR programs. A load aggregator can minimize the allocation cost by efficiently allocating its demand response resources (DRRs) considering retail customers' characteristics. However, the uncertain response behaviors of retail customers can influence the allocation strategy of its DRRs, increasing the economic risk of DRR allocation. This paper presents a risk-based DRR allocation method for the load aggregator that takes into account not only the physical characteristics of retail customers but also the risk due to the associated response uncertainties. In the paper, a conditional value-at-risk (CVaR) is applied to deal with the risk due to response uncertainties. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to analyze and illustrate Amazon's business strategies and its success in terms of its distribution strategy and business practices. Research design, data, and methodology - This is an analytical case study that examines Amazon's business strategies to demonstrate the importance of technologies to the success and sustainability of its organization. Results - The analysis indicates that the business strategies, including technology, distribution infrastructure, and customer service, are the most vital factor for the success and rise of Amazon, and these strategies have separated Amazon from its competitors in both e-tail and brick and mortar retail industries. Conclusions - Given Amazon's continued growth that came with its constant strive for delivery and cost efficiency, technology innovation, and customer satisfaction, it was inevitable that Amazon would eventually venture into different types of businesses. The previous and current Amazon's business strategies demonstrate that Amazon will continue to focus on developing and implementing new and creative strategies to separate itself from the rest of the retail and e-businesses. Furthermore, retail businesses in the most high-tech countries in the world, including Japan, Korea, and Russia, may have to adopt business strategies that are similar to those of Amazon to maintain their competitiveness.
This study was to identify underlying dimensions of service encounter quality, to test difference in service encounter quality between interpersonal service(IPS) and self-service technology(SST) and to predict service effectiveness and behavioral intentions in the fashion retail context. A field experimental study was designed for collecting data. Repeat sampling frames were involved in two types of service encounters: interpersonal service and self-service technology within the store environment. Thirty participants served as subjects. Sample represents more females than males, and age was ranged from 20 to 33 years old (Mean=24.2). The result suggested that service encounter quality consisted of competence, dedication, and listening. There was a significant mean difference on listening factor of service encounter quality between IPS and SST. For the interpersonal service, dedication and listening had significant effects on service effectiveness. For the self-service technology, competence and listening had significant effects on service effectiveness. In the IPS condition, the service effectiveness significantly affected the revisit intention, whereas it was not significantly related to the revisit intention in the SST condition. This study discussed managerial implications for fashion retailers seeking to effectively manage service quality by specifying interpersonal service versus self-service technology in the retail environments.
