The step response of the Manabe standard form[1]has little overshoot and shows almost same waveforms regardless of the order of the characteristic polynomials. In some situations it is difficult to control the rise time and settling time simultaneously of the step response of the Manabe standard form. To control its rise time and settling time efficiently, we develop the generalization of the Manabe standard form: we try to find out the SRFS(Slow Rise time & Fast Settling time) form which has the slower rise time and faster settling time than those of the Manabe standard form. we also consider the other three forms: FRSS(Fast Rise time & Slow Settling time), SRFS(Slow Rise time & Fast Settling time) and SRSS(Slow Rise time & Slow Settling time) forms. In this paper, by using the genetic algorithm, we obtain all the coefficient of the four forms we mention above. Finally, we design a controller for a given plant so that the overall system has the performance that the rise time is faster, the settling time is slower than those of the Manabe standard form.
We present an approach, based on the state dependent Riccati equation, for designing non-collocated seismic response control strategies for buildings accounting for physical constraints, with particular attention to force saturation. We consider both cases of active control using general actuators and semi-active control using magnetorheological dampers. The formulation includes multi control devices, acceleration feedback and time delay compensation. In the active case, the proposed approach is a generalization of the classic linear quadratic regulator, while, in the semi-active case, it represents a novel generalization of the well-established modified clipped optimal approach. As discussed in the paper, the main advantage of the proposed approach with respect to existing strategies is that it allows to naturally handle a broad class of non-linearities as well as different types of control constraints, not limited to force saturation but also including, for instance, displacement limitations. Numerical results on a typical building benchmark problem demonstrate that these additional features are achieved with essentially the same control effectiveness of existing saturation control strategies.
The determination of the damage index to reveal the performance level of a structure can constitute the seismic risk generalization approach based on the parametric analysis. This study implemented this concept to one kind of civil engineering structure that is the concrete gravity dam. Different cases of the structure exhibit their individual responses, which constitute different considerations. Therefore, this approach allows the parametric study of concrete as well as soil for evaluating the seismic nature in the generalized case. To ensure that the target algorithm applicable to most of the concrete gravity dams, a very simple procedure has been considered. In order to develop a correlated algorithm (by response surface methodology; RSM) between the ground motion and the structural property, randomized sampling was adopted through a stochastic method called half-fractional central composite design. The responses in the case of fluid-foundation-dam interaction (FFDI) make it more reliable by introducing the foundation as being bounded by infinite elements. To evaluate the seismic generalization of FFDI models, incremental dynamic analysis (IDA) was carried out under the impacts of various earthquake records, which have been selected from the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center data. Here, the displacement-based damage indexed fragility curves have been generated to show the variation in the seismic pattern of the dam. The responses to the sensitivity analysis of the various parameters presented here are the most effective controlling factors for the concrete gravity dam. Finally, to establish the accuracy of the proposed approach, reliable verification was adopted in this study.

Fuzzy linear regression model has been widely studied with many successful applications but there have been only a few studies on the fuzzy regression model with monotonic response function as a generalization of the linear response function. In this paper, we propose the fuzzy regression model with the monotonic response function and the algorithm to construct the proposed model by using ${\alpha}-level$ set of fuzzy number and the resolution identity theorem. To estimate parameters of the proposed model, the least squares (LS) method and the least absolute deviation (LAD) method have been used in this paper. In addition, to evaluate the performance of the proposed model, two performance measures of goodness of fit are introduced. The numerical examples indicate that the fuzzy regression model with the monotonic response function is preferable to the fuzzy linear regression model when the fuzzy data represent the non-linear pattern.
Prognosis in oriental medicine gathers information by four examination methods. It provides important information to understand the degree of deficiency - excessiveness of a patient to treat properly. To generalize the degree of deficiency - excessiveness can be found by seeing the patient's muscle response and pain perception to the palpitations. The theoretical basis to generalize deficiency - excessiveness, oriental and western medical understanding of pain perception and the elasticity of muscle were discussed. The usual symptoms for the excessiveness could include Pain (dislikeness to the palpitation), Stiffness of nape and limbs, Contracture of the limbs, Clonic convulsion and Fast pain. The symptoms for the deficiency could include Pain (likeness to the palpitation, Gastrocnemius muscle spasm, Flaccid paralysis of limbs and Slow pain. More theoretical bases for generalization of deficiency - excessiveness are needed along with the simplifying the complex clinical symptoms. In this way, we can discuss about deficiency - excessiveness with the regard to western medicine to help its generalization.
In this research report, we are presenting several optimization models for cognitive systems by using stimulus-response matrix (S-R Matrix). Stimulus-response matrices are widely used for tabulating results from various experiments and cognition systems design in which the recognition and confusability of stimuli. This paper is relevant to analyze the optimization/mathematical programming models. The weakness and restrictions of the existing models are resolved by generalization considering average confusion of each subset of stimuli. Also, clustering strategies are used in the extended model to obtain centers of cluster in terms of minimal confusion as well as the character of each cluster.
This study examined the relative effects of positive and negative reinforcement on customer service behaviors. In addition, we examined whether the intervention would lead to response generalization on non-target behaviors. Five employees at three different convenient stores participated and ABC/ACB within-subject design was adopted. For the three participants, followed by the baseline(A), the positive reinforcement was first introduced(B) and the negative reinforcement(C) was introduced for the next phase. For the remaining two participants, the negative reinforcement(C) was first introduced after baseline(A) and the positive reinforcement (B) was introduced. Results showed a greater improvement in target behaviors under the positive reinforcement condition than that of the negative reinforcement condition. In addition, both reinforcement condition cause response generalization on non-targeted service behaviors, however, the comparable effects was found between two reinforcement conditions. Post-interview indicated that participants experienced positive emotions under positive reinforcement condition and negative emotions under negative reinforcement condition. These results suggest that the he techniques using positive reinforcement can be more effective and efficient to improve the work performance.

Quantile regression investigates the quantiles of the conditional distribution of a response variable given a set of covariates. M-quantile regression extends this idea by a "quantile-like" generalization of regression based on influence functions. In this paper we propose a new method of estimating M-quantile regression functions, which uses kernel machine technique. Simulation studies are presented that show the finite sample properties of the proposed M-quantile regression.

Recently researches have been made on the client-side Web GIS, which can lessen the load of a server and provide users with intheractive geographic information. Howwever, the initial delay is the main drawback because of a high volume of geographic data and becausr the server does not associate spatial features with the map scale. Even when a complex spatial object is too small to be distinguished from a point by the naked eyes, it's complete data will be transmitted. This paper proposes a new effcient schema to reduce the response time and increase transmission effciency. Briefly speaking, "Transmit what can be seen" is the main idea. By exploiting the generalization algorithm, the proposed method allows the server to extract readable features from objects according to the display scale. Meanwhile, increasingly detailed map will be cached on the client. Therefore this method will contribute to the transmission efficiency of Web GISs.
In dynamic systems, such as social and economic systems, complex interactions emerge among its members. In that case, their behaviors become adaptive according to Changing environment. In many cases, an individual's behaviors can be modeled by a stimulus-response system in a dynamic environment. In this paper, we use the Iterated Prisoner's Dilemma (IPD) game, which is simple yet capable of dealing with complex problems, to model the dynamic systems. We propose strategic coalition consisting of many agents and simulate their emergence in a co-evolutionary learning environment. Also we introduce the concept of confidence for agents in a coalition and show how such confidences help to improve the generalization ability of the whole coalition. Experimental results are presented to demonstrate that co-evolutionary learning with coalitions and confidence allows better performing strategies that generalize well.
