  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the pulpal responses to adhesive resins as phosphoric ester system: "Clearfil F II" (Composite filling material), "Panavia EX" (Composite cementing Material) and "Silar" (Microfilled Compsoite resin) comparing with Zinc-Oxide-Eugenol cement. Total 70 cavities of the permanent healthy teeth from 5 dogs were prepared and placed with experimental resins and Zinc-Oxide-Eugenol cement as control. The dogs were sarificed at 5 intervals of 3 days, one, two, four, six weeks. The specimens were routinely prepared and stained by Hematoxylin-Eosin. Followings were the results obtained through microscopic examination. 1. In cases of Clearfil F II and Panavia EX without etching and lining, pulp response in the early stage showed more severe vascular congestion and hemorrhage than that of Zinc-Oxide-Engenol cement. 2. The pulp response of totally etched cases was similar to that of unetched cases in the groups of Clearfil F II and Panavia EX. 3. The cases of Clearfil F II and Panavia EX with enamel etching showed no significant histologic change compared to that of total cavity etching. 4. The Silar case with total etching showed retarded tendency of histologic recovery compared to Clearfil F II and Panavia EX group. 5. Generally, pulp responses of experimental groups were not severe and the six week case showed the evidence of a histologic recovery.

  • Objectives To investigate the therapeutic effects of intravenous cultivated wild ginseng(Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) pharmacopuncture(CWGP) in treating patients with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC). Design Prospective case series. Setting This study was conducted at the East-West Cancer Center of Dunsan Oriental Hospital, Daejeon University. Patients Two non-small cell lung cancer patients. Intervention Two non-small cell lung cancer patients were injected CWGP(20mL/day) mixed with 0.9% normal saline(100mL) intravenously. Each patient received a total of 16 and 9 cycles, respectively. One cycle is composed of 14 days. Outcome Measures The effect of intravenous CWGP was measured by scanning with computed tomography(CT) after every 2 cycle and Positron emission tomography- computed tomography(PET/CT) after every 6 cycles. Response and progression was evaluated using the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors(RECIST) Committee classification of complete response(CR), partial response(PR), progressive disease(PD) and stable disease(SD). Results They were treated with intravenous CWGP for 8 and 5 months respectively. time later, each tumor remains stable disease(SD). Conclusion These cases may give us a possibility that intravenous CWGP offers potential benefits for non-small cell lung cancer patients.

  • Hazardous work zones (i.e., hot, warm, and cold) are typically established by emergency response teams during hazardous materials (HAZMAT) calls but less consistently for fire responses to segment personnel and response activities in the immediate geographic area around the fire. Despite national guidelines, studies have documented the inconsistent use of respiratory protective equipment by firefighters at the fire scene. In this case-series report, we describe warm zone gas levels using multigas detectors across five independent fire incident responses all occurring in a large South Florida fire department. Multigas detector data collected at each fire response indicate the presence of sustained levels of volatile organic compounds in the "warm zone" of each fire event. These cases suggest that firefighters should not only implement strategies for multigas detector use within the warm zone but also include respiratory protection to provide adequate safety from toxic exposures in the warm zone.

  • The objective of the study is to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Saudi Arabia stock market. The study relied on the data of the daily closing stock market price index Tadawul All Share Index (TASI), and the number of daily cases infected with COVID-19 during the period from March 15, 2020, to August 10, 2020. The study employs the Vector Auto-Regressive (VAR) model, the Impulse Response Function (IRF) and Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity (ARCH) models. The results of the correlation matrix and the Impulse Response Function (IRF) show that stock market returns responded negatively to the growth in COVID-19 infected cases during the pandemic. The results of ARCH model confirmed the negative impact of COVID-19 pandemic on KSA stock market returns. The results also showed that the negative market reaction was strong during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. The study concluded that stock market in KSA responded quickly to the COVID-19 pandemic; the response varies over time according to the stage of the pandemic. However, the Saudi government's response time and size of the stimulus package have played an important role in alleviating the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Saudi Arabia Stock Market.

  • The estrogen and progesterone receptors which are bound to the cytoplasmic protein of cancer cells were measured in 20 patients with the early breast cancer by means of radioimmunoassay using charcoal. 1. The Patients with estrogen receptor positive were 13 (65%) of 20 cases and with progestrone receptor positive were 7 cases (35%) in the early breast cancer. 2. Coexistence of estrogen and progesterone receptor positive was noted in 7 cases (35%). The cases of estrogen receptor positive and progesterone receptor negative were 6 cases (33.3%), while there were no cases of estrogen receptor negative with progestrone receptor positive. 3. Coincidence of estrogen and progesterone negative was notied in 7 cases(35%). Conclusively, it is considered that the measurement of estrogen and progesterone receptors has relevance as predictive value, in the response to hormonal manipulations and chemotherapy for breast cancer patients.

  • The value of statistics used for variable selection criteria can be reduced remarkably by excluding only a few influential cases. Furthermore, different subsets of regressors change leverage and influence patterns for the same response variable. Based on these motivations, this paper suggests a procedure which considers variable selection and detection of influential cases simultaneously.

  • The combustion instability of a rocket motor can be predicted by the linear stability analysis. The most important input data in this analysis is the combustion response function of the solid propellant. In many cases, it is very difficult to measure the function. But, in that case, the combustion response function can be theoretically evaluated by properties of the propellant. In this study, the theoretical values were compared with measured values by T-burner. Data are relatively so well agreed that theoretical values are enough to be used in linear stability analysis of the rocket motor using a newly developed propellant.

  • This paper deals with the non-axisymmetric dynamic response of an imperfectly bonded buried orthotropic pipeline subjected to longitudinal wave (P-wave) excitation. An infinite cylindrical shell model, including the rotary inertia and shear deformation effects, has been used for the pipeline. For some cases comparison of axisymmetric and non-axisymmetric responses have also been furnished.

  • This study analyzed chemical accidents each year according to the status, type of accident, accident place, business size, and chemical substance. The results of the chemical accident investigation were 16 cases in 2013, 27 cases in 2014, 46 cases in 2015, and 23 cases in 2016. According to the type of chemical accident, number of accidents, and casualty accidents, leakage was found to be the major cause. As a result of accidents and casualties caused by chemical accidents, workplaces had the highest numbers in all survey items. An examination of the top 10 accident materials revealed 9 substances to be hazardous chemicals. These materials were accident preparedness substances, and toxic substances.
