Previous studies on joint optimization of computation offloading and service caching policies in Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) have often neglected the impact of dependency-aware subtasks, edge server resource constraints, and multiple users on policy formulation. To remedy this deficiency, this paper proposes a many-objective joint optimization dependency-aware task offloading and service caching model (MaJDTOSC). MaJDTOSC considers the impact of dependencies between subtasks on the joint optimization problem of task offloading and service caching in multi-user, resource-constrained MEC scenarios, and takes the task completion time, energy consumption, subtask hit rate, load variability, and storage resource utilization as optimization objectives. Meanwhile, in order to better solve MaJDTOSC, a many-objective evolutionary algorithm TSMSNSGAIII based on a three-stage mating selection strategy is proposed. Simulation results show that TSMSNSGAIII exhibits an excellent and stable performance in solving MaJDTOSC with different number of users setting and can converge faster. Therefore, it is believed that TSMSNSGAIII can provide appropriate sub-task offloading and service caching strategies in multi-user and resource-constrained MEC scenarios, which can greatly improve the system offloading efficiency and enhance the user experience.
As large-scale computational applications in various scientific domains have been utilized over many integrated sets of grid computing resources, the difficulty of their execution management and control has been increased. It is beneficial to refer job history generated from many application executions, in order to identify application‘s characteristics and to decide selection policies of grid resource meaningfully. In this paper, we apply a statistical technique, Plackett-Burman design with fold-over (PBDF), for analyzing grid environments and execution history of applications. PBDF design identifies main factors in grid environments and applications, ranks based on how much they affect to their execution time. The effective factors are used for selecting reference job profiles and then preferable resource based on the reference profiles is chosen. An application is performed on the selected resource and its execution result is added to job history. Factor's credit is adjusted according to the actual execution time. For a proof-of-concept, we analyzed job history from an aerospace research grid system to get characteristics of grid resource and applications. We built JARS algorithm and simulated the algorithm with the analyzed job history. The simulation result shows good reliability and considerable performance in grid environment with frequently crashed resources.

Recently, due to the introduction of distributed energy resources, the optimal resource allocation problem of the power network is more and more important, and the distributed resource allocation method is required to process huge amount of data in large-scale power networks. In the optimal resource allocation problem, many studies have been conducted on the case when the supply-demand balance is satisfied due to the limitation of the generation capacity of each generator, but the studies considering the supply-demand imbalance, that total demand exceeds the maximum generation capacity, have rarely been considered. In this paper, we propose the consensus-based distributed algorithm for the optimal resource allocation of power network considering the supply-demand imbalance condition as well as the supply-demand balance condition. The proposed distributed algorithm is designed to allocate the optimal resources when the supply-demand balance condition is satisfied, and to measure the amount of required resources when the supply-demand is imbalanced. Finally, we conduct the simulations to verify the performance of the proposed algorithm.
The accurate wind speed information at the hub height of a wind turbine is very essential to the exact estimation of the wind turbine power performance testing. Several methods on the site calibration, which is a technique to estimate the wind speed at the wind turbine's hub height based on the measured wind data using a reference meteorological mast, are introduced. A site calibration result and the wind resource assessment for the Taekwanryung test site are presented using a one-month wind data from a reference meteorological mast and a temporal mast installed at the site of wind turbine. From this analysis, it turns out that the current location of the reference meteorological mast is wrongly determined, and the self-developed codes for the site calibration are working properly. Besides, an analysis on the uncertainty allocation for the wind speed correction using site calibration is performed.
This paper addresses an AGV dispatching problem in semiconductor clean-room bays where AGVs move cassettes of wafers between machines or machines and a central buffer. Since each machine in a bay has a local buffer of limited capacity, material flow should be controlled in a careful way to maintain high system performance. It is regarded that two most important performance measures in a semiconductor bay are throughput rate and lead-time. The throughput rate is determined by a bottleneck resource and the lead-time depends on smooth material flow in the system. This paper presents an AGV dispatching procedure based on the concept of theory of constraints (TOC), by which dispatching decisions are made to utilize the bottleneck resource at the maximum level and to smooth the flow of material. The new dispatching procedure is compared with existing dispatching rules through simulation experiments.
A standard paradigm for the allocation of wireless resources in communication demands symmetry, whereby all users are assumed to be on equal footing and hence get equal shares of communication capabilities. However, there are situations in which "prime users" should be given higher priority, as for example in the transmission of emergency messages. In this paper, we examine a prioritization policy that can be implemented at the physical layer. In particular, we evaluate the performance of a prioritized transmission scheme based on spectrum pooling and on the assignment of higher signal-to-noise ratio channels to higher-priority users. This performance is compared to that of unprioritized (or "symmetric") schemes, and the impact of prioritization on the unprioritized users is discussed.
In water resource management, data prediction is performed using artificial intelligence, and companies, governments, and institutions continue to attempt to efficiently manage resources through this. LSTM is a model specialized for processing time series data, which can identify data patterns that change over time and has been attempted to predict groundwater level data. However, groundwater level data can cause sen-sor errors, missing values, or outliers, and these problems can degrade the performance of the LSTM model, and there is a need to improve data quality by processing them in the pretreatment stage. Therefore, in pre-dicting groundwater data, we will compare the LSTM model with the MSE and the model after normaliza-tion through distribution, and discuss the important process of analysis and data preprocessing according to the comparison results and changes in the results.
This paper attempts to evaluate an environmental regulation program which enforces installation of filtering equipment to reduce major air pollutants from used diesel vehicles. A real option model is presented to incorporate fuel cost uncertainty and irreversibility of emission-reducing investment. A finite-life option based on finite difference method is developed to consider the limited life expectancy of used vehicles. After taking into account social benefits from emission reduction and costs from decreasing fuel efficiency after the adoption of filtering technology, the result finds overall positive performance of the Pollution Reduction Program. However, the result suggests that the Program be designed to be more specific to vehicle types to improve program performance.
The most recent programs tend to use picture or audio files which need mass storage resources. For these mass storages, the performance of automatic management decreases as the sizes of these resources increases. Moreover, the more the number of resources increases, the more the management of resources gets difficult. This paper suggests a resource management system to which the interface of tree-structure file system is applied in order to increase convenience and efficiency. The system uses the access technique based on character string path to have more compatibility, and supports tree structure which is more systematic. Further, it supports virtual nodes to show high performance. The system can be used to control resources from outside as well as inside of processes.

Integral imaging is considered as a next-generation 3D display which can display 3d imaging in space using lens array. The performance of integral imaging systems depends on several factors including display panel, lens array, imaging devices and so on. In this paper, we develop a unifying framework to evaluate the resolution of integral imaging systems under fixed resource constraints. The proposed framework enables one to optimize the system performance. To show the feasibility of the proposed method, we carry out Monte Carlo simulations based on this framework and present the results.
