  • Mobile edge computing (MEC), which enables mobile terminals to offload computational tasks to a server located at the user's edge, is considered an effective way to reduce the heavy computational burden and achieve efficient computational offloading. In this paper, we study a multi-user MEC system in which multiple user devices (UEs) can offload computation to the MEC server via a wireless channel. To solve the resource allocation and task offloading problem, we take the total cost of latency and energy consumption of all UEs as our optimization objective. To minimize the total cost of the considered MEC system, we propose an DRL-based method to solve the resource allocation problem in wireless MEC. Specifically, we propose a Asynchronous Advantage Actor-Critic (A3C)-based scheme. Asynchronous Advantage Actor-Critic (A3C) is applied to this framework and compared with DQN, and Double Q-Learning simulation results show that this scheme significantly reduces the total cost compared to other resource allocation schemes

  • A cost analysis for hospitalized patients was performed based on the RBRVS in order to determine an appropriate nursing fee schedule. The study was conducted through three phases as follows: 1) Nursing activities provided for the inpatients currently in Korea were identified and classified using a taxonomy which was developed by our research team through the Delphi process. 2) The resource-based relative points for every nursing activity according to nursing time, mental effort and judgement, technical skill, physical effort and stress were determined through a survey of 300 clinical RNs working at 5 tertiary hospitals from May 25 to July 25. 1998. 3) The nursing cost of every nursing activity for hospitalized patients was estimated based on the RBRVS. As a result, 136 nursing activities were identified and classified by nursing processes and nursing domains. However, our classification system of nursing activities should continue to be refined, and all nursing practices should be standardized. The nursing activities were given resource-based relative points ranging from 100 to 400 points, then each nursing activity was assigned a value for the RBRVS, which was determined by the exponential function of 2resource-based relative point/100. Thus, a value of 2 was calculated for 100 points, 4 for 200 points, 8 for 300 points, and 16 for 400 points. Meanwhile, the unit cost of nursing was calculated as 170 Won. The nursing cost of 136 nursing activities was estimated using the RBRVS as shown in

. A proper nursing fee schedule for a new reimbursement system based upon the results of the above study should be prepared in the near future.

    • The Korean Family Resource Management Association(KFRMA) celebrated its $20^{th}$ anniversary in 2016. KFRMA has tried to improve the quality of family life through research and education since it was formed in 1996. The purpose of this study was to show the contributions of this association and to suggest the future direction. For these purposes, this study showed the process of development through themes of 40 symposiums and it analyzed the research trends among articles published in the Journal of KFRMA. Based on this evaluation, this study suggested an expansion of the research area, the identification of family resource management relating to family policies or healthy family services. Support for leading research projects and the training of healthy family specialists are needed in this association for next 20 years.

    • Internet of things (IoT) has emerged as the most popular technique that facilitates enhancing humans' quality of life. However, most time sensitive IoT applications require quick response time. So, processing these IoT applications in cloud servers may not be effective. Therefore, fog computing has emerged as a promising solution that addresses the problem of managing large data bandwidth requirements of devices and quick response time. This technology has resulted in processing a large amount of data near the data source compared to the cloud. However, efficient management of computing resources involving balancing workload, allocating resources, provisioning resources, and scheduling tasks is one primary consideration for effective computing-based solutions, specifically for time-sensitive applications. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the source management strategies considering resource limitations, heterogeneity, unpredicted traffic in the fog computing environment. It presents recent developments in the resource management field of the fog computing environment. It also presents significant management issues such as resource allocation, resource provisioning, resource scheduling, task offloading, etc. Related studies are compared indifferent mentions to provide promising directions of future research by fellow researchers in the field.

    • The objective of this paper is to define local optimization algorithms (LOA) to solve Resource-Constrained Project Scheduling Problem (RCPSP) and analyze the performance of these algorithms. By representing solutions with activity list, three primitive LOAs, i.e. forward and backward improvement-based, exchange-based, and relocation-based LOAs are defined. Also, combined LOAs integrating two primitive LOAs are developed. From the experiments with standard test set J120 generated using ProGen, the FBI-based LOA demonstrates to be an efficient algorithm. Moreover, algorithms combined with FBI-based LOA and other LOA generate good solutions in general. Among the considered algorithms, the combined algorithm of FBI-based and exchangebased shows best performance in terms of solution quality and computation time.

    • In recent years, knowledge has emerged as a major source of competitive advantage due to the continuous development of information and communication technology, the acceleration of globalization, and the entry into knowledge-based society. Thus interests in knowledge management have been increased significantly. Nevertheless theoretical backgrounds of knowledge management are not actively discussed. Studies on the knowledge management of R&D groups initiating knowledge creation and sharing are not actively conducted either. This study, therfore, provides a research model of knowledge management to investigate relationships among resource and institutional characteristics, knowledge management activities, and knowledge management performance of R&D groups based on knowledge-based theories and institutionalization theories. This study further offers research propositions inherent in the model.

    • A method is proposed to reduce excess resources from a virtual machine(VM) while avoiding subsequent migrations for a computer cluster that provides cloud service. The proposed scheme cuts down on the resources of a VM based on the probability that migration may occur after a reduction. First, it finds a VM that can be scaled down by analyzing the history of the resource usage. Then, the migration probability is calculated as a function of the VM resource usage trend and the trend error. Finally, the amount of resources needed to eliminate from an underutilized VM is determined such that the migration probability after the resource reduction is less than or equal to an acceptable migration probability. The acceptable migration probability, to be set by the cloud service provider, is a criterion to assign a weight to the resource reduction either to prevent VM migrations or to enhance VM utilization. The results of simulation show that the proposed scheme lowers migration frequency by 31.6~60.8% depending on the consistency of resource demand while losing VM utilization by 9.1~21.5% compared to other known approaches, such as the static and the prediction-based methods. It is also verified that the proposed scheme extends the elapsed time before the first occurrence of migration after resource reduction 1.1~2.3-fold. In addition, changes in migration frequency and VM utilization are analyzed with varying acceptable migration probabilities and the consistency of resource demand patterns. It is expected that the analysis results can help service providers choose a right value of the acceptable migration probability under various environments having different migration costs and operational costs.

    • Currently, many people have been researching diverse mechansmims related to a resource access control in Grid environment. Mostly Grid user's resource access control was designed to authorize according to their attributes and roles. But, to provide Grid with resources continuously, a resource access based on utility computing must be controlled. So, in this paper we propose and implement mechanism that intergrates Grid accounting concept with resource access control. This mechanism calcuates costs of Grid service on the basis of accounting, and determines based on user's fund availibility whether they continue to make use of site resources or not. Grid jobs will be controlled according to a site resource access control policy only if the amount of available fund is less than its costs. If Grid job completed, resource consumer pays for the costs generated by using provider's idle resources. Therefore, this paper provides mechansim to be able to control user's resource access by Grid accounting, so that it is evaluated as the research to realize utility computing environment corresponding to economic principle.
