  • The physical attributes of a computer, such as processor speed, size and access time of memory, and I/O bandwidth, are fixed when the computer is delivered to the user. Under these conditions, the performance of a multi-process system where multiple processes share various resources can be enhanced by monitoring and controlling the relationship between the user processes and the system resources. This paper applies object oriented concept to the performance management and suggests a standard for the management. Resource managers and user processes are defined as managed object and a performance manager is defined as a managing object. A protocol between the user processes and performance manager is designed and attributes and methods of the objects are also defined. Through the standardization, the user processes and the performance manager can be developed independently and the system's performance can also be collectively managed.

  • This study analyzed the relationships among perceptions of uncertainty, environmental characteristics and strategy maker\`s actual decision such as resource allocation in different organizational subunits by focusing on the hotel general managers in two different countries Korea and Japan. The results show that managerial perceptions of the environment would vary across organizations within an industry but it was surprising to fad that managerial perceptions did not vary more substantially across countries. General managers in both countries perceived government regulator\`s actions to be the most uncertain environmental factor. Hotels in Japan were more geared toward external effectiveness than were hotels in Korea. The findings of this study also suggest that when the organization faces high environmental uncertainty, it places greater emphasis on extemally oriented functions such as market research and product development.

This paper reports the case study of Deakyo Co. in successfully implementing EAI. It describes project goal, project organization, project plan, the implemented EAI configuration and its features, the EAI effectiveness to the firm, and the critical success factors of the EAI project. This case study is thought to be useful as a practical guideline in carrying out EAI project of the company and to provide significant basis for constructing the theoretical framework of EAI project methodology.

  • Managing knowledge effectively is a critical factor for the competitive power of a company. There are efforts to use knowledge as an important resource in many industrial areas and likewise the interest in knowledge management is growing in the construction industry. Nevertheless, there are limitations in the current capture and reuse of knowledge in the construction industry owing to the unique characteristics of the knowledge created during the processes of projects. The knowledge produced during the processes of construction projects is project-oriented, experiential and context specific and due to these characteristics the reuse of knowledge is difficult. In this research, we focus on capturing and identifying the characteristics of construction knowledge and propose a method to apply these characteristics in developing an ontology based construction knowledge retrieval system to improve construction knowledge retrieval and enhance knowledge reuse.

  • Taylor and Ford in the 1910s led to the "scientific management" for the entire industry from the manufacturing spread of TQM Total Quality Management has been structured as a management efficiency, such as 6-Sigma techniques were developed. SW development also introduces the idea, such as CMMI and SPICE-based process management, management practices have evolved. However, in recent years to increase the knowledge of workers in the manufacturing process oriented management approach is under serious challenge. Business performance or productivity will be varied depending all motivation, human relationship, job involvement rather than simply putting a lot of time. Especially in the SW industry which is depending on human resource, Creativity should be limited in traditional management methods. Their productivity and creativity in product development has been successful by giving autonomy and motivation, enthusiasm and vision to tile employees. Human relationship management since the mid-1990s, appears as a new paradigm so called Agile process in the field of SW development. Agile processes emphasis on light, flexible and responding to changes immediately in the business environment step away from traditional management approach which is the heavy and complicated process. In this paper, agile project management concepts and practices which is applied to industry will be examined.

The subjects were 301 married men age 40.54 living in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, Korea. Participants were selected using a purposive sampling method and a convenience sampling method. The data were statistically processed using the SPSS 18.0 program. First, participants who perceived family stress less and had higher family resilience tended to be better educated, have higher average family incomes, have permanent employment, be religious, and have no experience of unemployment. Participants who had low-paying, physical labor-based jobs or who were contract workers perceived family stress more and had lower family resilience. Second, among the variables that affected family resilience, those that most influenced the perceptual extent of family stress were the sense of belief system's family control, having a positive perspective, flexibility with regard to morality, religion, and organizational patterns, connectivity, family resources, communication-oriented mutual cooperative problem-solving, and emotional response. • The purpose of this study is to analyze and assess the family policy of the Lee administration and to suggest agendas for sustainable future family policy. Traditionally, families are a unique unit of production and reproduction of family members and social laborers. In addition, families are the social safety net help people survive in a society. Therefore, family policies play an important role in contemporary society. In this context, we review the literature related to family and social policy, and the contents of Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs, which is the main authority in Korea. The results are as follow: Firstly, the Lee administration ignored the data showing that family policy should be a unique policy, and not a sub-division of welfare policy. Secondly, there is no difference between the active welfare policy of the Lee administration and policies of past administrations. Finally, this study suggests that subjects of future oriented family policy should focus on co-developing programs for the individual, family, and society, to develop problem-prevention and family needs- ordered policy, and to make integrated family policy through laws and delivery systems such as Healthy Family Centers.
