  • A new soybean cyst nematode, H. sojae was reported from Korea in 2016. This species is closely related to H. glycines which has the same host plant. Morphological observations of the cyst, female, male and second-stage juveniles indicated that this species is differed from H. glycines. Especially, cysts of H. sojae appeared more round, shining and darker than that of H. glycines. The distribution of this new cyst nematode in soybean field in Korea is unknown so far. In 2016, 270 soil samples were collected from soybean fields and examined the existence of H. glycines and H. sojae. Total of 111 samples contained cysts (41.1%). Among them 77% were H. glycines and 23% were H. sojae. H. sojae is future threatening in soybean production area.

  • Multimedia applications over wireless networks have been evolving to augmented reality or virtual reality services. However, a rich data size compared to conventional multimedia services causes bandwidth bottlenecks over wireless networks, which is one of the main reasons why those applications are not used widely. To overcome this limitation, bandwidth aggregation techniques, which exploit a multi-path transmission, have been considered to maximize link utilization. Currently, most of the conventional researches have been focusing on the user end problems to improve the quality of service (QoS) through optimal load distribution. In this paper, we address the joint pricing and load distribution problem for multi-homing in heterogeneous wireless access networks (ANs), considering the interests of both the users and the service providers. Specifically, we consider profit from resource allocation and cost of power consumption expenditure for operation as an utility of each service provider. Here, users decide how much to request the resource and how to split the resource over heterogeneous wireless ANs to minimize their cost while supporting the required QoS. Then, service providers compete with each other by setting the price to maximize their utilities over user reactions. We study the behaviors of users and service providers by analyzing their hierarchical decision-making process as a multileader-, multifollower Stackelberg game. We show that both the user and service provider strategies are closed form solutions. Finally, we discuss how the proposed scheme is well converged to equilibrium points.

  • In recent years, the demand for the distribution of energy resource has been increasing. However, the output power is limited by the stability of the distribution network. This study proposes an active distribution network that can reconfigure the distribution line using an active phase controller. The conventional distribution network has a fixed structure, whereas the proposed active distribution network has a variable structure. Therefore, the active distribution network can increase the output power of the distribution energy resource and reduce the overload of distribution line facilities. The active phase controller has two operation modes to minimize the circulating current during dynamic reconfiguration. In this study, the voltage and current control algorithms are proposed for the active phase controller. The proposed method for the active phase controller is simulated via PSIM simulation.

  • The research was carried out in order to find climate factors which determine the distribution of Neolitsea sericea, and the potential habitats (PHs) under the current climate and three climate change scenario by using species distribution models (SDMs). Four climate factors; the minimum temperature of the coldest month (TMC), the warmth index (WI), summer precipitation (PRS), and winter precipition (PRW) : were used as independent variables for the model. Three general circulation models under A1B emission scenarios were used as future climate scenarios for the 2050s (2040~2069) and 2080s (2070~2099). Highly accurate SDMs were obtained for N. sericea. The model of distribution for N. sericea constructed by SDMs showed that minimum temperature of the coldest month (TMC) is a major climate factor in determining the distribution of N. sericea. The area above the $-4.4^{\circ}C$ of TMC revealed high occurrence probability of the N. sericea. Future PHs for N. sericea were projected to increase respectively by 4 times, 6.4 times of current PHs under 2050s and 2080s. It is expected that the potential of N. sericea habitats is expanded gradually. N. sericea is applicable as indicator species for monitoring in the Korean Peninsula. N. sericea is necessary to be monitored of potential habitats.

  • The evolution of the mining-induced fracture network formed during longwall top coal caving (LTCC) has a great influence on the gas drainage, roof control, top coal recovery ratio and engineering safety of aquifers. To reveal the evolution of the mining-induced stress and fracture network formed during LTCC, the fracture network in front of the working face was observed by borehole video experiments. A discrete element model was established by the universal discrete element code (UDEC) to explore the local stress distribution. The regression relationship between the fractal dimension of the fracture network and mining stress was established. The results revealed the following: (1) The mining disturbance had the most severe impact on the borehole depth range between approximately 10 m and 25 m. (2) The distribution of fractures was related to the lithology and its integrity. The coal seam was mainly microfractures, which formed a complex fracture network. The hard rock stratum was mainly included longitudinal cracks and separated fissures. (3) Through a numerical simulation, the stress distribution in front of the mining face and the development of the fracturing of the overlying rock were obtained. There was a quadratic relationship between the fractal dimension of the fractures and the mining stress. The results obtained herein will provide a reference for engineering projects under similar geological conditions.

  • According to distribute of resource of macro cell and reduce distance between transmitter and receiver, Femto cell system is promising to provide costeffective strategy for high data traffic and high spectral efficient services in future wireless cellular system environment. However, the co-channel operation with existing Macro networks occurs some severe interference between Macro and Femto cells. Hence, the interference cancellation or management schemes are imperative between Macro and Femto cells in order to avoid the decrease of total cell throughput. First, we briefly investigate the conventional resource allocation and interference cancellation scheme between Macro and Femto cells. So we found that cell throughput and frequency reuse ware decreased Then, we propose an adaptive resource allocation scheme based on the distribution of Femtocell traffic in order to increase the cell throughput and also maximize the spectral efficiency over the FFR (Fractional Frequency Reuse) based conventional resource allocation schemes. Simulation Results show that the proposed scheme attains a bit similar SINR (Signal to Interference Noise Ratio) distribution but achieves much higher total cell throughput performance distribution over the conventional resource allocation schemes for FFR and future IEEE 802.16m based Femtocell network environment.

  • For applications that are grid enabled, the grid can offer a resource balancing effect by scheduling grid jobs on machines with low utilization. When jobs communicate with each other, the internet, or with storage resources, an advanced scheduler could schedule them to minimize communications traffic or minimize the distance of the communications. We propose an intelligent load distribution algorithm to minimize communications traffic and distance of the communications using genetic algorithm. The experiments show the proposed load redistribution algorithm performs efficiently in the variance of load in grid environments.

  • To establish an offshore wind turbine test site, a wind resource assessment of the candidate site is required as a preliminary procedure. The wind resource assessment must be performed with at least one year of wind data. If the assessment is performed with short-term wind data, the results cannot validate the wind conditions of the candidate site. This study performs wind resource assessment of Kokunsangun-do to investigate the wind conditions of the candidate site. The wind data is measured by the Automatic Weather System (AWS) of the Korea Meteorological Administration, located at Maldo. The data is for five years, measured from 2013 to 2017. Measured wind data is statistically processed with a 10-minute average scheme to find out the dominant wind direction and wind power density, with yearly wind speed distribution (Weibull-based). This study contributes to build a database of wind energy resources around Maldo. Also, the results of this study could be used for the establishment of an offshore wind turbine test site.
