  • This paper is about band pass filter, using Ceramics in the condition of center frequency 370Hz at milli-wave. The band pass filter is applied to Broadband Convergence Network, representing WLL(Wireless Local Loop) and LMDS(Local Multi-point Distribution Service). Sticking ceramic between strip line on a dielectric material substrate with which conductor's covers upper and basal surface, One will house the exterior by using structural resonance. In this Non Radiative Microstrip Line Filter structure, based upon simulations, generalized the two formulas finding resonant frequency of 1step ceramic resonator and bandwidth of 4step ceramic resonator. Also, As a result of experiment, using Network Analyzer, about created a experiment of structure based on the simulation result of 4-step ceramic resonator, It showed good characteristic of targeted bandwidth, comparing simulated result of 36.58GHz$\sim$37.650GHz with experimented result of 36.6GHz$\sim$37.65GHz.

  • The impedance matching network with the simplfied real frequency technique (SRFT) is proposed as a method for bandwidth enhancement of microstrip antenna. The validity of the technique is based on the relative frequency insensitivity of the radiation pattern and gain characteristics as compared to the resonant behaviour of the input impedance. The most significant feature of this technique is that there is no need to find any analytical description of the antenna and generator, and it only utilizes directly real frequency generator and load data over the prescribed frequency band. Furthermore, it is not necessary to invent an analytic form of the system transfer function to assume a matching network topology in advance. In this paper, the transmission line model is used to investigate the rectangular microstrip antenna, and based on the Fano's bandwidth-enlargement theory, the SRFT is introduced to design the matching networks of microstrip antennas in order to obtain a constant gain over the frequency band of interest. Two representative microstrip antnnas with different structure are fabricated and tested. From these procedures, it is obtained that the proposed impedance matching networks of microstrip antenna improve the impedance bandwidth nearly three times compared to the antenna without them.

  • In this paper, a novel design of a compact printed monopole antenna for wireless local area network (WLAN) applications is investigated. The radiator with a patch of different line width and step-shaped ground planes is used to reduce the antenna size. The size of the antenna is 16 × 17 × 1 ㎣ and is fabricated with a photolithography technique. The simulated and measured results agree well. The resonant frequency of the investigated antenna is about 5.2 GHz and can cover an impedance bandwidth of 1 GHz for the measurement result. In addition, we presented the measured radiation pattern, presented the gain and efficiency measured in the required WLAN 5 GHz frequency band (5.15-5.825 GHz), and confirmed that it can be used as a 5 GHz band WLAN antenna. The investigated antenna has a small size, light weight, low cost, omni-directional radiation pattern, high gain, and high efficiency.

  • In this paper, the optimum structure of 2GHz magnetic thin film planar inductor were designed and fabricated to reduce the inductor area and to maximize the inductance L and quality factor Q of the inductor. The optimum design was performed utilizing Co90Fe10 layer multilayered with SiO2 layers to avoid the eddy-current skin effect and considering new lumped element model. New magnetic thin film inductors operating at 2GHz were fabricated on a Si substrate utilizing photo-lithography and lift-off techniques. The frequency characteristics of L, Q, and impedance in more than fifty identical inductors were measured using an RF Impedance Analyzer(HP4291B with HP16193A test fixture). The self-resonant frequencies(SRF) of the inductors were measured by a Vector Network Analyzer(HP8510). The developed inductors have SRF of 1.8 to 2.3GHz, L of 47 to 68nH, and Q of 70 to 80 near 1GHz. Finally, high frequency, high performance, planar micro-inductor(area=30.8 x 30.8il$^2$) with maximized L and Q were fabricated succefully.

  • This paper introduces the reduction design technique of the resonance phenomenon of the inner PCB based on power integrity from the analysis about the inner power supply line generating RLC resonance. With the technique, the resonant frequency resulted from the structural characteristics of the PCB can be analyzed and allows to predict and the capacitor for resonance phenomenon reduction can be decided as a decoupling capacitor. From the simulation result, it was confirmed that the PCB's resonance phenomenon reduction design technique should have the reduction effect in the inner motherboard of the industrial controller. This research will be contributed to the improvement of the safety of a PDN (Power Delivery Network) structure in the layout design technique of the PCB.

  • This paper shows the impedance profile of PEEC(Partial Equivalent Electrical Circuit) PDN(Power Distribution Networks) including core and I/O circuit. Through the simulated results, we find that the core power noise having connection with I/O power is affected by I/O switching. Also, using designed $74{\times}5inch$ DLL(Delay Locked Loop) test board, we analyzed the effect of power noise on operation region of chip. Jitter of a DLL measure for frequency of $50{\sim}400MHz$ and compared with impedance obtained result of simulation. Jitter of a DLL are increased near about frequency of 100MHz. It is reason that the resonant peak of PDNs has an impedance of more the 1ohm on 100MHz. we present the impedance profile of a chip and board for the decoupling capacitor reduced the target impedance. Therefore, power supply network design should be considered not only decoupling capacitors but also core switching current and I/O switching current.

  • In this paper, isolation enhanced antenna using isolating resonator was proposed. Two loop type antennas were designed to operate at Wi-Fi band(2.4~2.5 GHz), in symmetry to the center, and are closely located to each other. In order to enhance isolation characteristics at Wi-Fi bands, isolating resonator was designed between the two loop type antennas. The proposed isolating resonator is a slot type antenna that enhances isolation with the control of the size, and by adjusting the value of capacitor($C_D$) the resonant frequency of the isolating resonator can easily be adjusted to enhance isolation characteristic at the target frequency.

  • In this paper, compact linear dual polarized series-fed $1{\times}2$ linear and $2{\times}2$ planar arrays antennas for airborne SAR applications are proposed. The proposed antenna design consists of a square radiating patch that is placed on top of the substrate, a quarter wave transformer and $50-{\Omega}$ matched transformer. Matching between a radiating patch and the $50-{\Omega}$ microstrip line is accomplished through a direct coupled-feed technique with the help of an impedance inverter (${\lambda}/4$ impedance transformer) placed at both horizontal and vertical planes, in the case of the $2{\times}2$ planar array. The overall size for the prototype-1 and prototype-2 fabricated antennas are $1.9305{\times}0.9652{\times}0.05106{{\lambda}_0}^3$ and $1.9305{\times}1.9305{\times}0.05106{{\lambda}_0}^3$, respectively. The fabricated structure has been tested, and the experimental results are similar to the simulated ones. The CST MWS simulated and vector network analyzer measured reflection coefficient ($S_{11}$) results were compared, and they indicate that the proposed antenna prototype-1 yields the impedance bandwidth >140 MHz (9.56-9.72 GHz) defined by $S_{11}$<-10 dB with 1.43%, and $S_{21}$<-25 dB in the case of prototype-2 (9.58-9.74 GHz, $S_{11}$< -10 dB) >140 MHz for all the individual ports. The surface currents and the E- and H-field distributions were studied for a better understanding of the polarization mechanism. The measured results of the proposed dual polarized antenna were in accordance with the simulated analysis and showed good performance of the S-parameters and radiation patterns (co-pol and cross-pol), gain, efficiency, front-to-back ratio, half-power beam width) at the resonant frequency. With these features and its compact size, the proposed antenna will be suitable for X-band airborne synthetic aperture radar applications.

  • Synchronized switch damping (SSD) techniques have recently been developed for structural vibration control using piezoelectric materials. In these techniques, piezoelectric materials are bonded on the vibrating structure and shunted by a network of electrical elements. These piezoelectric materials are switched according to the amplitude of the excitation force to damp vibration. This paper presents a new SSD technique called 'synchronized switch damping on negative capacitance and adaptive voltage sources' (SSDNCAV). The technique combines the phenomenon of capacitance transient charging and electrical resonance to effectively dampen the structural vibration. Also, the problem of stability observed in the previous SSD techniques is effectively addressed by adapting the voltage on the piezoelectric patch according to the vibration amplitude of the structure. Analytical expressions of vibration attenuation at the resonance frequency are derived, and the effectiveness of this new technique is demonstrated, for the control of a resonant cantilever beam with bonded piezoelectric patches, by comparing with SSDI, SSDVenh, and SSDNC techniques. Theoretical predictions and experimental results show the remarkable vibration damping capability of SSDNCAV technique, which was better than the previous SSD techniques. The broadband vibration control capabilities of SSDNCAV technique are also demonstrated, which exceed those of previous SSD techniques.

  • Effects of cavity material on the Q-factor measurement of microwave dielectric materials were studied by HFSS simulation and the measurements using metal cavity. $TE_{01\delta}$ mode resonant frequency was determined from the electric and magnetic field patterns and the loaded Q-factor was calculated from 3dB bandwidth of $S_{21}$ spectrum. When the cavity metal materials were Cu, SUS and Au cavity, the level of Q-factor was similar. However, Q-factor was significantly decreased when the cavity metal material was CuO. The Q-factor measurements of dielectric resonator by network analyzer using various metal cavity exhibits consistent behavior.
