  • The study about quantitative or qualitative analysis of object using digital image is being progressed actively with the development of the image medium and image process technique. But, it is very high that the dependency about image acquisition system of high resolution for image analysis of high accuracy and it is a equipment of high-price. In this study, I extracted the optimum condition of image enhancement by analyzing and enhancing the multiple images which were acquired by system of low-price. And I carried out the analysis of 3D accuracy by being applied the optimum condition of image enhancement. In the result of analysis of average 3D positioning error using law image and enhanced image which is acquired by applying the optimum condition of image enhancement, I could obtain the progressed accuracy about 10% on the enhanced image.

  • Multi-temporal high resolution satellite images are essential data for efficient city analysis and monitoring. Yet even when acquired from the same location, identical sensors as well as different sensors, these multi-temporal images have a geometric inconsistency. Matching points between images, therefore, must be extracted to match the images. With images of an urban area, however, it is difficult to extract matching points accurately because buildings, trees, bridges, and other artificial objects cause shadows over a wide area, which have different intensities and directions in multi-temporal images. In this study, we analyze a shadow effect on image matching of high resolution satellite images in urban area using Scale-Invariant Feature Transform(SIFT), the representative matching points extraction method, and automatic shadow extraction method. The shadow segments are extracted using spatial and spectral attributes derived from the image segmentation. Also, we consider information of shadow adjacency with the building edge buffer. SIFT matching points extracted from shadow segments are eliminated from matching point pairs and then image matching is performed. Finally, we evaluate the quality of matching points and image matching results, visually and quantitatively, for the analysis of shadow effect on image matching of high resolution satellite image.

  • The conventional machine vision system which has uniform rectangular grid requires tremendous amount of computation for processing and analysing an image especially in 2-D image transfermations such as scaling, rotation and 3-D reconvery problem typical in robot application environment. In this study, the imaging system with nonuiformly distributed image sensors simulating human visual system, referred to as Ploar Exponential Grid(PEG), is compared with the existing conventional uniform rectangular grid system in terms of image resolution and computational complexity. By mimicking the geometric structure of the PEG sensor cell, we obtained PEG-like images using computer simulation. With the images obtained from the simulation, image resolution of the two systems are compared and some basic image processing tasks such as image scaling and rotation are implemented based on the PEG sensor system to examine its performance. Furthermore Fourier transform of PEG image is described and implemented in image analysis point of view. Also, the range and heading-angle measurement errors usually encountered in 3-D coordinates recovery with stereo camera system are claculated based on the PEG sensor system and compared with those obtained from the uniform rectangular grid system. In fact, the PEC imaging system not only reduces the computational requirements but also has scale and rotational invariance property in Fourier spectrum. Hence the PEG system has more suitable image coordinate system for image scaling, rotation, and image recognition problem. The range and heading-angle measurement errors with PEG system are less than those of uniform rectangular rectangular grid system in practical measurement range.

  • High-resolution satellite imagery is used in diverse fields such as meteorological observation, topography observation, remote sensing (RS), military facility monitoring and protection of cultural heritage. In satellite imagery, low-resolution imagery can take place depending on the conditions of hardware (e.g., optical system, satellite operation altitude, image sensor, etc.) even though the images were obtained from the same satellite imaging system. Once a satellite is launched, the adjustment of the imaging system cannot be done to improve the resolution of the degraded images. Therefore, there should be a way to improve resolution, using the satellite imagery. In this study, a super resolution (SR) algorithm was adopted to improve resolution, using such low-resolution satellite imagery. The SR algorithm is an algorithm which enhances image resolution by matching multiple low-resolution images. In satellite imagery, however, it is difficult to get several images on the same region. To take care of this problem, this study performed the SR algorithm by calibrating geometric changes on images after applying automatic extraction of feature points and projection transform. As a result, a clear edge was found just like the SR results in which feature points were manually obtained.

  • According to the evolutive theory of saline, combined with field survey data, the authors have discussed the theoretical model of recording past climatic change of Luobupo saline. After interpreted and analyzed the causes of the ringy image, the authors have mapped high resolution climatic changing graph of Luobupo saline during past 2000 years by using remote sensing method. Contrast to the known results, it is proved that the research results have comparability and continuity. The resolution of special climatic event can reach in one year, and in general, the resolution of climatic change can reach in ten to twenty years.

  • The SinGAN is one of generative adversarial networks that can be trained on a single nature image. It has poor ability to learn more global features from nature image, and losses much local detail information when it generates arbitrary size image sample. To solve the problem, a non-linear function is firstly proposed to control downsampling ratio that is ratio between the size of current image and the size of next downsampled image, to increase the ratio with increase of the number of downsampling. This makes the low-resolution images obtained by downsampling have higher proportion in all downsampled images. The low-resolution images usually contain much global information. Therefore, it can help the model to learn more global feature information from downsampled images. Secondly, the attention mechanism is introduced to the generative network to increase the weight of effective image information. This can make the network learn more local details. Besides, in order to make the output image more natural, the TVLoss function is introduced to the loss function of SinGAN, to reduce the difference between adjacent pixels and smear phenomenon for the output image. A large number of experimental results show that our proposed model has better performance than other methods in generating random samples with fixed size and arbitrary size, image harmonization and editing.

  • The main objective of this study is to examine the effectiveness of newly available high spatial resolution satellite images, in evaluating vegetation environment of the urban areas. In doing so, we have used satellite images from QuickBird and selected some areas of Fukuoka City, Kyushu Japan, as study area. The results of the study revealed that, high resolution images are more effective in close monitoring of the vegetation status and green plants should be planted in open spaces and roofs of urban areas to increase vegetation, which will in turn act as a remedy to reduce heat island phenomenon.

  • This study refers to develop a semi-automatic extraction of agricultural land use and vegetation information using high resolution satellite images. Data of IKONOS satellite image (May 25 of 2001) and QuickBird satellite image (May 1 of 2006) which resembles with the spatial resolution and spectral characteristics of KOMPSAT3. The precise agricultural land use classification was tried using ISODATA unsupervised classification technique and the result was compared with on-screen digitizing land use accompanying with field investigation. For the extraction of vegetation information, three crops of paddy, com and red pepper were selected and the spectral characteristics were collected during each growing period using ground spectroradiometer. The vegetation indices viz. RVI, NDVI, ARVI, and SAVI for the crops were evaluated. The evaluation process is under development using the ERDAS IMAGINE Spatial Modeler Tool.

  • This study was performed to determine the adequate resolution and compression method in teleradiology. A digital imaging system using Machintosh IT ci computer, 15' Sony high resolution RGB monitor, Umax Power look flatbed scanner with transparency unit and 12 panoramic radiographs were used. The results were as follows : 1. Relative detectability at the group scanned by 30ddpi, 600dpi and 1200dpi was same as those at the real panoramic radiographs. 2. Perceivable image quality degradation was found at the 25% of middle quality of JPEG compression. But those were not diagnostically significant. 3. Perceivable image quality degradation was found at the 100% of low quality of JPEG compression. And 8cases among them were diagnostically significant. On the basis of the above results, it is considered that the adequate resolution in scanning radiographs for teleradiology is 300dpi and compression method is the middle quality of JPEG compression.
