The anisotropy in coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) between the in-plane and out-of-plane of 3-dimensional thick composite structures induces residual stresses and the large void content due to insufficient compaction of fabric composites, which results in low interlaminar strengths. In order to reduce the through thickness CTE and the void content, in this work, carbon fabric phenolic laminates were compacted by pressure generated by autoclave and a compressive jig, from which the through-thickness CTEs and the void contents were measured. From the measurement, it was found that the through-thickness CTE and the void content had different characteristics from ordinary composites due to gas produced during the cure reaction of phenolic resin.
In the PAN-based ACF manufacturing system stabilization step was improved with chemical treatment (preoxidation) in order to yield higher carbon content and to avoid excessive fragmentation during carbonization and activation process. The optimal condition of preoxidation was at 18$0^{\circ}C$ for 4 minutes in sodium glyceroxide in glycerine (concentration of NaOH was 0.02 meq/g). To investigate low temperature stabilization effect, preoxidized PAN fiber heated 22$0^{\circ}C$ to 26$0^{\circ}C$ as a function of treatment time and oxidative gas atmosphere, and analysed by infrared spectrum and TGA. As a results of IR and TGA, it was clear that impregnated[preoxidative] PAN had 14% higher residual than untreated PAN at 100$0^{\circ}C$ and the optimal condition of stabilization was at 26$0^{\circ}C$ for 3.5 hours within $N_2$ atmosphere.
Treatment with aqueous sodium hydroxide solution plays an important role to impart certain desirable properties - feel and luster on the surface of polyester fiber. In this process alkali wastewater contains disodium terephthalate, ethylene glycol (EG) and residual sodium hydroxide. In this paper we report a new method containing the pretreatments of derivatization with benzoyl chloride and solvent extraction using pentane. The calibration curve of EG determined by GC/MS-SIM shows a good linearity in the range of 0.1 to $25{\mu}g/mL$ having the standard deviation of ${\leq}8.7%$. The recovery and the detection limit of this method are 91.9-93.7% and $0.05{\mu}g/mL$ respectively.

This paper describes a simulation program of intake and exhaust processes in a 4-stroke S.I. engine and also studies the relationship among various engine parameters under different engine speed and load conditions. This simulation program includes the engine cylinder model for the intake and exhaust processes and its formulation and evaluates the system characteristics such as inlet mass, pumping work and residual gas in the cylinder-which influence on power output, fuel economy and exhaust emissions. In order to evaluate the accuracy of the simulation program, predicted results were compared with the experimental data obtained on the 4-stroke, 4-cylinder gasoline engine and satisfactory agreement was obtained.

In order to produce high-yield pitch-based activated carbon, pitch was synthesized by blending pyrolysis fuel oil (PFO) and coal-tar. Pitch was synthesized by varying the amount of coal-tar from 0~20% compared to PFO and reacting at 380~420 ℃ for 3 h. The synthesized pitch had a softening point between 80 and 260 ℃, and yields ranged from 10 to 40%. At all synthesis temperatures, as the coal-tar blending ratio increased, the yield increased and the softening point decreased. After considering the selected pitches (softening points: 230~260 ℃), pitches containing coal-tar were more volatile at a low boiling point and had a higher residual carbon content. This is a difference in the composition of coal-tar and PFO, and it was con- firmed that coal-tar has a lot of aromatics and PFO has a lot of aliphatics. The selected pitch was heated to 950 ℃ in a tubular reactor and physically activated with steam for 1 hour. Activated carbon containing coal-tar showed higher yield and microporosity compared to only PFO. In this study, the effect of increasing activated carbon yield by blending pitch raw materials was confirmed, and the physical activation characteristics according to the coal-tar mixing ratio were examined.

The purity methods to determine LOD/LOQ using standard deviation of the residual, intercept and blank by IUPAC and ACS describe many of the pitfalls and pose significant challenges to analytical chemists. Therefore, the aim of this study is the development of the simple, easy, convenient and statistically significant method to determine LOD in quantitative analysis of organic solvents by GC. The new approaching method by linearization in the given concentration range used coefficient of variation ; ${\sigma}_{n-1}$/S(standard deviation, ${\sigma}_{n-1}$ and average, S) of sensitivity(Response/concentration). The comparison of results among the purity methods(IUPAC and ACS) and the linearization have been fulfilled the F-test for standard deviations and t-test for LOD range values. The results of F-test and t-test are satisfied within 95 % confidence level, respectably. The LOD values determined by the new procedure are n-Hexane 0.0116 mg/$m^3$, Toluene 0.0807 mg/$m^3$, and o-Xylene 0.0494 mg/$m^3$. Because the standard deviation of the residual, intercept and blank and the slope of calibration curve are not calculated and the new approaching method use the coefficient of variation of sensitivity by linearization, this new method is simple, easy, convenient and statistically significant. In future, many chemical analysts will expect to applicate and routinely use this method in the all quantitative analysis.
A tear lens formed by between back surface of spherical rigid gas permeable(RGP) contact lens and front surface of cornea shows an excellent correction effect of astigmatism. To study an effects of tear lens power using spherical RGP lens and therefore to utilize them in clinical procedures, we analyze a change of the total astigmatism, the cornea astigmatism, and the residual astigmatism, we derive the following conclusion. 1. Almost all refractive astigmatism below than 2.00D present fully corrected. Thereby resulting good visual acuity. Refractive astigmatism higher than 2.50D show under-corrected and apparent decrease of visual acuity if it is higher than 3.00D. 2. Amount of corneal astigmatism below than 2.50D show acceptable under-corrected while higher than 3.000 present unacceptable visual acuity. 3. An estimated residual astigmatism is not revealed as it is : but it is reduced when it incorporate to refractive astigmatism.

This study investigated the hydrocarbonoclastic microbial community present on weathered crude oil and their ability to degrade weathered oil in seawater obtained from the Gulf St. Vincent (SA, Australia). Examination of the native seawater communities capable of utilizing hydrocarbon as the sole carbon source identified a maximum recovery of just $6.6{\times}10^1\;CFU/ml$, with these values dramatically increased in the weathered oil, reaching $4.1{\times}10^4\;CFU/ml$. The weathered oil (dominated by > $C_{30}$ fractions; $750,000{\pm}150,000mg/l$) was subject to an 8 week laboratory-based degradation microcosm study. By day 56, the natural inoculums degraded the soluble hydrocarbons (initial concentrations $3,400{\pm}700mg/l$ and $1,700{\pm}340mg/l$ for the control and seawater, respectively) to below detectable levels, and biodegradation of the residual oil reached 62% ($254,000{\pm}40,000mg/l$) and 66% ($285,000{\pm}45,000mg/l$) in the control and seawater sources, respectively. In addition, the residual oil gas chromatogram profiles changed with the presence of short and intermediate hydrocarbon chains. 16S rDNA DGGE sequence analysis revealed species affiliated with the genera Roseobacter, Alteromonas, Yeosuana aromativorans, and Pseudomonas, renowned oil-degrading organisms previously thought to be associated with the environment where the oil contaminated rather than also being present in the contaminating oil. This study highlights the importance of microbiological techniques for isolation and characterisation, coupled with molecular techniques for identification, in understanding the role and function of native oil communities.

Steel bridges, which have been damaged by load and corrosion, need repair or strengthening. In general, before the repair welding procedure, cutting procedure carry out. Therefore, the investigating of the behavior of stress generated by cutting is so important for safety of structure. Residual stress produced by gas cutting was analyzed using 2D and 3D thermal elasto plastic FEM. According to the results, the magnitude of temperature was analyzed by 2D FEM is smaller than that was analyzed using the 3D FEM program at the start and end edge of flange. And the magnitude and distribution of residual stress of perpendicular to the cutting line was analyzed by the 2D FEM program was similar to that was analyzed by the 3D FEM program. Therefore, it is possible to predict of cutting stress by 2D and 3D FEM.
