  • In this study, we report a method to synthesize the aluminum nitride (AlN) powders from aluminum oxyhydroxide (AlOOH). AlOOH powders were prepared from the aluminum hydroxide ($Al(OH)_3$) by heattreatment at the reaction temperature of $350^{\circ}C$. Simple heat treatment of AlOOH in the flow of $NH_3$ gas leads to the formation of hexagonal AlN powders through intermediate conversion of ${\delta}-,\;{\gamma}-$ and ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$. The FTIR transmission spectra show a broad peak related to Al-N bonds centered around 690 $cm^{-1}$ confirming the presence of AlN. The major peaks in Raman spectra were observed in 250 $cm^{-1}$ and 659 $cm^{-1}$. From the results, synthesized powders from the AlOOH powders were confirmed AlN powders.

  • Dodecyldimethylethylammonium (DDDEA), a cationic surfactant, and aluminum metal ions were used with bentonite to synthesize to synthesize an improved organo bentonite. Among three different synthesis procedure for organo bentonites, aluminium-pillared bentonite showed the highest DDDEA sorption, which indicated that aluminium-pillared organo bentonite would exhibit the highest sorption capacity for organic contaminants. Aluminium pillared organo bentonite also showed a high sorption capability for phosphorus, while it did not exhibit strong sorption for nitrate. In the meantime, more desorption was observed with aluminium-pillared organo bentonite than ordinary organo bentonites.

  • This paper presents a 3D video content generation technique and system that uses the multi-view images and the depth map. The proposed uses 3-view video and depth inputs from the 3-view video camera and depth camera for the 3D video content production. Each camera is calibrated using Tsai's calibration method, and its parameters are used to rectify multi-view images for the multi-view stereo matching. The depth and disparity maps for the center-view are obtained from both the depth camera and the multi-view stereo matching technique. These two maps are fused to obtain more reliable depth map. Obtained depth map is not only used to insert a virtual object to the scene based on the depth key, but is also used to synthesize virtual viewpoint images. Some preliminary test results are given to show the functionality of the proposed technique.

  • In this paper, implementation of object-based multiview 3D display using object segmentation and adaptive disparity estimation is proposed and its performance is analyzed by comparison to that of the conventional disparity estimation algorithms. In the proposed algorithm, firstly we can get segmented objects by region growing from input stereoscopic image pair and then, in order to effectively synthesize the intermediate view the matching window size is selected according to the extracted feature value of the input stereo image pair. Also, the matching window size for the intermediate view reconstruction (IVR) is adaptively selected in accordance with the magnitude of the extracted feature value from the input stereo image pair. In addition, some experimental results on the IVR using the proposed algorithm is also discussed and compared with that of the conventional algorithms.

  • Magnesium oxide (MgO) thin films have attracted great scientific and technological interest in recent decades. Because of its distinguished properties such as a wide band gap (7.2 eV), a low dielectric constant (9.8), a low refractive index, an excellent chemical, and thermal stability (melting point=$2900^{\circ}C$), it is widely used as inorganic material in diverse areas such as fire resistant construction materials, optical materials, protective layers in plasma display panels, buffer layers of multilayer electronic/photonic devices, and perovskite ferroelectric thin films. Precursor used in the ALD requires volatility, stability, and low deposition temperature. Precursors using a heteroleptic ligands with different reactivity have advantage of selective reaction of the heteroleptic ligands on substrate during ALD process. In this study, we have synethesized new heteroleptic magnesium precursors ${\beta}$-diketonate and aminoalkoxide which have been widely used for the development of precursor because of the excellent volatility, chelating effects by increasing the coordination number of the metal, and advantages to synthesize a single precursor. A newly-synthesized Mg(II) precursor was adopted for growing MgO thin films using ALD.

  • Antisense molecules are structurally simple linear oligomers of nucleotides. They can recognize a complementary sequence by base pairing, therefore, antisense drugs composed of 15-16 bases are potentially useful, unlike drugs such as protein agonists, antagonists, and inhibitors. Since antisense oligomers are classified as nucleotides, they are subject to attack by nucleases. In order to be antisense drugs resistant to degradation by nucleases, the structural modifications in the linkages, bases, and sugars to satisfy this requirement are considerable. We attempted in this study, to synthesize 16-mer antisenses with a modified linkage and adenosine. When studying on the three-dimensional structure of the oligomer, however, the existence of isomers may complicate the interpretation of the NMR data. Therefore, an attempt was made to eliminate the above problem, thus, two dimers were synthesized and their structural studies were carried out.

  • Research on innovation has a long tradition from various disciplines. MIS research has also been interested in the innovation adoption because IS development and implementation can be regarded as an innovation process. To deal with IT innovations, MIS research adopted existing innovation(diffusion) theories which have been developed on general innovation phenomena. However, the MIS innovation research revealed that there exist some limitations in applying the innovation theories to IT innovations and proposed that research on IT innovations should reflect the unique characteristics of IT. The purpose of this study is twofold; first, to synthesize the past research and propose the uniqueness of IT innovations and second, to survey the Perceptions of managers on If innovations. Three unique characteristics of IT innovations are derived from the past research which are (1) knowledge barriers, (2) increasing returns, (3) organizational decision. Data collected from 68 Korean managers showed that the perceptions of managers support the uniqueness of IT innovations. Some recommendations to facilitate IT innovations are discussed and further research directions are suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to synthesize the radio fluorine labelled isoquinoline salt derivative as new radiopharmaceutical for imaging tumors using positron emission tomography (PET). The planarity of isoquinoline allows to inhibit topoisomerase or intercalate between adjacent DNA base pairs, which result in producing double strand breaks in the DNA and a cell death. Therefore, the isoquinoline has seemed to have a potential anticancer activity. In order to obtain 2-(5-[$^{18}F$]fluoropentylisoquinolinium salt with good radiochemical yield, tosylated precursors have been synthesized. The labelling reaction was carried out for 30 minute in HMPA at $120^{\circ}C$. The radiochemical yield was about 50~60%.

  • To effectively monitor the variety of distributions of neutron flux, fuel power or temperatures in the reactor core, usually the ex-core and in-core neutron detectors are employed. The thermocouples for temperature measurement are installed in the coolant inlet or outlet of the respective fuel assemblies. It is necessary to reconstruct the measurement information of the whole reactor position. However, the reading of different types of detector in the core reflects different aspects of the 3D power distribution. The feasibility of reconstruction the core three-dimension power distribution by using different combinations of in-core, ex-core and thermocouples detectors is analyzed in this paper to synthesize the useful information of various detectors. A comparison of multilayer perceptron (MLP) network and radial basis function (RBF) network is performed. RBF results are more extreme precision but also more sensitivity to detector failure and uncertainty, compare to MLP networks. This is because that localized neural network could offer conservative regression in RBF. Adding random disturbance in training dataset is helpful to reduce the influence of detector failure and uncertainty. Some convolution neural networks seem to be helpful to get more accurate results by use more spatial layout information, though relative researches are still under way.

  • Transition metals such as V, Fe, and Ni were used to synthesize doped zinc oxide nanoparticles from mixed liquid precursors by using the flame spray pyrolysis (FSP). The effects of dopants on the powder properties such as morphology, specific surface area, crystal structure, and light adsorption were analyzed by TEM, BET, XRD, and UV-Vis diffuse reflection spectrum (DRS), respectively. The results showed that hexagonal wurtzite structured ZnO:M (M = V, Fe, Ni) nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by the FSP. The transition metal-doping resulted in the decrease in its particle size and crystallite size. The UV-vis absorption spectra of ZnO:M nanoparticles were also red-shifted. ZnO:V showed the highest MB degradation of 99.4% under the UV irradiation after 3 hrs.
