  • This study delves into the significant impact of integrating nanomaterials, specifically carbon and graphene nanoparticles, into the polymer matrix of aluminum alloy 356, utilizing the vortex casting technique, with the aim of improving the mechanical properties of table tennis equipment. Athletes and their coaching teams have long been on a quest for high-performance sports gear, recognizing its pivotal role in unlocking the full potential of players. The dedication of engineers to craft designs, select materials with precision, and uphold stringent testing standards reflects the commitment to meeting the demands of the sporting world. Yet, to remain at the forefront, sports engineering must continually align with contemporary technologies, and nanotechnology has emerged as a transformative force in this regard. This study not only underscores the meticulous efforts in material integration but also highlights the remarkable strides made possible by nanotechnology. Aluminum nanocomposites, particularly, showcase a groundbreaking fusion of exceptional strength and reduced weight, marking a notable achievement in sports equipment innovation. The research outcomes are compelling, revealing a substantial enhancement in the mechanical performance of the sports structures under scrutiny. 소형 압력 용기의 변형 및 파열 경향에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Propensity for the Deformation and Failure of a Small Pressurized Cylinder)

  • 캠핑 문화에서 주로 사용되던 부탄의 경우 증기압이 낮아 안전성의 확보가 쉽지만, 기화점이 높아 사용자의 부주의와 사고를 유발하는 계기가 되었다. 이와 같은 연유로 최근 부탄 연료의 불편함을 대체 할 캠핑용 연료로써 프로판 공급의 필요성이 대두 되었고, 프로판 용기의 개발이 진행되었다. 프로판은 연료 특성상 높은 증기압을 가지고 있어, 용기 제작에 있어 내압 성능이 가장 중요한 요소이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 소형 프로판 용기의 내압 성능을 결정하는 하부 경판 변화에 따른 역학적 변화를 이론적으로 접근하였으며, 수압가압 실험을 통해 압력 용기의 변형 및 파열 특성을 관찰 하였다. 프로판 용기 하부 경판의 두께가 0.25 mm증가 시 2.5 MPa의 내압성능이 향상되고, 곡률반경이 62 mm 감소 시 내압성능이 1.5 MPa 향상 되었다. 이론과 실험 결과의 비교를 토대로 향후 소형 프로판 압력 용기의 개선 방안을 제시하였으며, 이는 추후 소형 프로판 압력 용기의 보급에 있어 기초 자료가 될 것으로 기대된다.

  • A minimum turning circle test of vehicles is operated by using Real-Time Kinematic(RTK) surveying method which enhances the precision of the Global Positioning System(GPS). A procedure of the conventional method to obtain results is to take post processing after the test. Therefore, it is difficult to ensure results in an instant. This paper introduces developed process and equipment that can immediately obtain results after the minimum turning test without post processing.

  • To successfully carry out large scale research projects while su, pp.rting quality assurance of research output, effective and systematic management through utilization of resources such as manpower, time and cost as well as engineering techniques such as component technology and design methodology is required. It is necessary to establish development methodology to su, pp.rt quality assurance. The development methodology covers the contents and procedures of the project, such as division of the project into independently executable units, allocation of resources including researchers, component technology, related know-how and equipment, deployment of research units and integration of the project at the end. In this paper we present systematic development methodology for quality assurance in large scale software development projects by analyzing the contents of the methodology a, pp.ied to the Gigabit Information-processing And Networking Technology development project(GIALT).

  • 고유가, 환경규제 등의 국제무역환경 변화에 따라 수출주력상품인 유압 브레이커의 고부가가치화를 위하여 지능형 전자제어유압시스템 분야인 ICT 융합기술을 활용하여 암반특성을 예측하고 최적모드(다단형)로 구동하는 지능형 파쇄기술 및 에너지 효율을 극대화할 수 있는 유압 브레이커 개발에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구에서는 암반의 강도에 따라 최적의 타격력을 제공하기 위해 근접센서를 이용해 암반 타격 시 피스톤의 하강 깊이를 측정하고 이를 통해 암반의 특성을 판별하여 타격력을 결정하는 피스톤 스트로크의 길이를 솔레노이드 밸브를 이용해 제어하였다. 다단 타격시스템을 위해 컨트롤러와 디스플레이/조작장치를 개발하였고, 무선통신을 이용하여 상호 정보교환이 가능하도록 하였다. 최종적으로 암반 강도에 따라 3단으로 타격할 수 있는 제어시스템을 개발하였고, 실차실험을 통해 이를 검증하였다.

  • Until now for the safety of structures and equipment monitoring technology to measure the amount of the physical, if that is the one, one-point or single-source target is one the most. Therefore, becoming more numerous and complex to measure the amount of physical measurement technology that is comprehensive and complex, multi-source concepts to the monitoring of a multi-sensing technology is required. Have the same characteristics of multi-source multi-use space such as a multi-structure of facilities/equipment is. The people's safety in a multi-use facility will be directly related to life and even a little carelessness can lead to large-scale disaster occurs because of several factors, risks and to manage detect in advance the development of an intelligent monitoring technology is essential. Therefore, this study shows that multiple structures/facilities to improve the quality of human life in research to maintain a safe and comfortable living space for multi-source intelligence to the development of monitoring technology to achieve that goal, and the ubiquitous sensor network system on the basis of the wireless transmission module, and multiple research facilities/equipment for the ultra-small sensors for health monitoring study was performed.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this research is to develop the optimized method and process in the reliability-growth target setting, especially for complex and repairable system (or products) such as vehicle and airplane, construction equipment. Method : A reliability-growth test plan specifies a scenario to achieve the planned reliability value (or reliability target). The major elements in test planning are reliability-growth starting time and reliability level at that time, reliability-growth rate and reliability-growth target. All of them except a reliability target can be referred to the previous development data and reference researches. The reliability target level is directly influencing to test period (or time) which is related to test and warranty cost together. There are a few researches about the reliability target setting method and but showing the limitations to consider the views of engineering, business and customer together. There is no research how to handle the target setting process in detail. Result : We develop the optimized method and systematic process in reliability target setting with considering such views. This research also establish the new concept as production capability which means company (or supplier) capability to product its products. Conclusion : In this research result, we apply the new method to a few projects and can set the reasonable test planning. The developing results is showing the good balance between the developing cost and warranty cost at market.

  • The performances of the building service equipment relay on the individual superintendent's share for the assessment of performance, fault detection, deterioration diagnosis of the building service equipment. A major use of building energy management system(BEMS) is for monitoring plant and building's energy consumption. National building management system (N-BMS) presented in this study links buildings into a network group in order to monitor and control the buildings. How to construct the N-BMS was considered to save energy resource and to conserve performance of building service equipment. The FEMIS, facility, energy/environmental management & information system, for building service offer management process integrated with BAS, FMS and EMS and so on.

Sports balls made of nanocomposite: investigating how soccer balls motion and impact

  • The incorporation of nanoplatelets in composite and polymeric materials represents a recent and innovative approach, holding substantial promise for diverse property enhancements. This study focuses on the application of nanocomposites in the production of sports equipment, particularly soccer balls, aiming to bridge the gap between theoretical advancements and practical implications. Addressing the longstanding challenge of suboptimal interaction between carbon nanofillers and epoxy resin in epoxy composites, this research pioneers inventive solutions. Furthermore, the investigation extends into unexplored territory, examining the integration of glass fiber/epoxy composites with nanoparticles. The incorporation of nanomaterials, specifically expanded graphite and graphene, at a concentration of 25.0% by weight in both the epoxy structure and the composite with glass fibers demonstrates a marked increase in impact resistance compared to their nanomaterial-free counterparts. The research transcends laboratory experiments to explore the practical applications of nanocomposites in the design and production of sports equipment, with a particular emphasis on soccer balls. Analytical techniques such as infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy are employed to scrutinize the surface chemical structure and morphology of the epoxy nanocomposites. Additionally, an in-depth examination of the thermal, mechanical, viscoelastic, and conductive properties of these materials is conducted. Noteworthy findings include the efficacy of surface modification of carbon nanotubes in preventing accumulation and enhancing their distribution within the epoxy matrix. This optimization results in improved interfacial interactions, heightened thermal stability, superior mechanical properties, and enhanced electrical conductivity in the nanocomposite.

Development of Core Strength Training Equipment and Its Effect on the Performance and Stability of the Elderly in Activities of Daily Living

  • Objective: This study aimed, first, to develop core strength training equipment with elderly-friendly, easy-to-use features and, second, to investigate the effect of core strength training using the equipment on the performance and stability of the elderly in activities of daily living. Method: In this study, we developed training equipment with a stability ball that can be used for performing core strength exercises in the elderly. Twenty-three elderly subjects (age: $77.87{\pm}6.95years$, height: $149.78{\pm}6.95cm$, and weight: $60.57{\pm}7.21kg$) participated in this study. The subjects performed the core strength training exercise with 16 repetitions for 8 weeks (2 repetitions per week). Performance in activities of daily living was assessed by using the Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB), a test of going up and down 4 stairs, and one-leg static balance test. Stability was quantified as changes in the center of pressure (COP) and C90 area. Results: With the core strength equipment, trunk core strength exercise could be performed by pulling or pushing a rope with 2 hands on the stability ball. During the task, the tension in the rope was manipulated by a motor connected to the rope and the COP of the subject was measured by 4 load cells mounted in the equipment. Our results showed that the SPPB score was significantly higher (p < .05), the time to complete the "going up and down 4 stairs" test was significantly shorter (p < .05), and one-leg static balance statistically improved under an eyes-open condition (p < .05) after as compared with before the core strength training. The changes in the COP in the anteroposterior and mediolateral directions, and C90 area were significantly lower in the posttest (p <. 05) than in the pretest. Conclusion: The core strength training exercise using the equipment developed in the present study improved the performance and stability of the elderly in activities of daily living.
