  • According to climate change, deficiency of usable land, large water portion of the Earth surface, and improvement of income level, floating architecture is emerging as a strong & attractive alternative. The aim of this study is to suggest some related applying ways for new building projects around waterside. New paradigm of architecture can be described as a new model and/or system of architecture with new concept and Zeitgeist like sustainability and green building. Floating building is already a new paradigm of architecture comparing with the preconception of building only on the land and current building regulations. New paradigm features from the sample projects can be summarized as new concepts of building, application of various renewable energy resources(water, solar, wind), modular construction, use of local raw material, dual purpose usage, long term and relocatable usage, and special building materials for green building.

  • From the view point of data fusion, we integrate LIDAR data and digital aerial images to perform 3D building modeling in this study. The proposed scheme comprises two major parts: (1) building block extraction and (2) building model reconstruction. In the first step, height differences are analyzed to detect the above ground areas. Color analysis is then performed for the exclusion of tree areas. Potential building blocks are selected first followed by the refinement of building areas. In the second step, through edge detection and extracting the height information from LIDAR data, accurate 3D edges in object space is calculated. The accurate 3D edges are combined with the already developed SMS method for building modeling. LIDAR data acquired by Leica ALS 40 in Hsin-Chu Science-based Industrial Park of north Taiwan will be used in the test.

  • These days, although thermal energy is decreasing, electric energy is increasing in building. Also, it is very important to research and distribute BIPV(Building Integrated photovoltaic) because our society consider electricity more significant than other energy in building. Therefore, in this paper, our research team analyzed difference between BIPV yield and building energy consumption through experimental research. As a result, yearly building energy consumption was 104,602.4kWh and BIPV yield was 105,267kWh. And then, totally counterbalanced time took up 26%, reduced electric load time took up 16%. In other words, peak load could be reduced up to 42% by BIPV. As a result, yearly building energy consumption was 104,602.4kWh and BIPV yield was 105,267kWh. • Tall building has some controversial aspects with low carbon city, but it is still a sensible choice for the metropolitan city. This paper aims to develop holistic urban design strategies to minimize impacts on the environment, increase energy efficiency and improve the quality of living in tall building communities by utilizing tall building characteristics. It puts forward the concept of integrated tall building-low carbon community design from the perspective of urban design, and summarizes five core strategies: Temporal state based on energy use, Complementary energy use state based on functions, Spatial state based on regional environment features, Transportation state based on low-carbon lifestyle and Waste utilization state based on tall building characteristics. It also applies the strategies to a practical project. The results show that the proposed urban design strategies are available approaches to mitigate the side effects of tall building on low carbon city.

  • Recently, the high-rise building has been constructed competitively because it is symbol of the national competitive power including the technical power. The higher buildings are getting, the more important building mechanical systems are. So, the building mechanical systems are getting developed. Among the building mechanical systems, the sanitary system is basically necessary in order to maintain the building hygienically along with convenience and safety. This study has been investigated for various cases of high-rise building plumbing system. As a result, a variety of zoning method has been applied to most skyscrapers depending on the building height in the building mechanical system. And a variety of joint have been applied to minimize the Shortening and Sway. Also, the drainage in same uses has been discharged outside of a build through the one vertical pipe line. And airing system has been used like Individual Vent Pipe Yoke Vent Pipe Stack Vent Pipe Loop Vent Pipe Relief Vent Pipe method. It is sure that this study could be used as the high-rise building design.

  • Different countries create their own green building rating system to be in line with sustainable development as a response to the urgent call for solution for Climate Change and degradation of the environment due to rapid population growth and economic development. This study conducts a critical review on the Philippine national voluntary green building rating system, BERDE, in comparison with South Korea's national voluntary green building rating system, G-SEED and U.S. rating system LEED. Their categories, building types assessed, and assessment methods were compared side by side to seek better practice(s) for green building rating assessment for Philippine green building projects.

  • Objectives: As collaboration for community health promotion is much emphasized, the concept and process of community collaboration for health needs to be discussed. This paper discusses varying types of collaboration and collaboration building processes and suggests directions for enhancing community collaboration research and practice. Methods: Leading literature on community partnership building and community health development and current community partnership research program information were reviewed. Results: Although the term collaboration is used interchangeably with cooperation, partnership, network, or coalition, conceptual differences need to be acknowledged in order to develop and reinforce the processes of collaboration. Collaboration building goes in hand with community-based participatory research and systems thinking, which should be supported by long-term, systematic planning and evaluation research. Conclusion: Collaboration for community health promotion needs to be defined and agreed conceptually, thus collaboration process can be developed. Effective collaboration building will be facilitated by systematic thinking and participatory research. Research support system should appreciate the time-intensive, process-oriented nature of collaboration building by providing long-term research funding and emphasizing process and long-term evaluation.
