  • This study aims to identify specific topics, trends, and structural characteristics of scholarly communication research, based on 1,435 articles published from 1970 to 2018 in the Scopus database through Latent Dirichlet Allocation topic modeling, serial analysis, and network analysis. Topic modeling, time series analysis, and network analysis were used to analyze specific topics, trends, and structures, respectively. The results were summarized into three sets as follows. First, the specific topics of scholarly communication research were nineteen in number, including research resource management and research data, and their research proportion is even. Second, as a result of the time series analysis, there are three upward trending topics: Topic 6: Open Access Publishing, Topic 7: Green Open Access, Topic 19: Informal Communication, and two downward trending topics: Topic 11: Researcher Network and Topic 12: Electronic Journal. Third, the network analysis results indicated that high mean profile association topics were related to the institution, and topics with high triangle betweenness centrality, such as Topic 14: Research Resource Management, shared the citation context. Also, through cluster analysis using parallel nearest neighbor clustering, six clusters connected with different concepts were identified.

  • The goal of this study is to investigate domestic research trend on research data study. To achieve this goal, articles related research data topic were collected from RISS. After data cleansing, 134 author keywords were extracted from a total of 58 articles and keyword network analysis was performed. As a result, first, the number of studies related to research data in Korea is still only 58, so it was found that many related studies need to be conducted in the future. Second, most research fields related to research data were focused on library and information science among complex studies. Third, as a result of frequency analysis of author keywords related to research data, 'research data management', 'research data sharing', 'data repository', and 'open science' were analyzed as major frequent keywords, so research data-related research focuses on the above keywords. The keyword network analysis results also showed that high-frequency keywords occupy a central position in degree centrality and betweenness centrality and are located as core keywords in related studies. Through the results of this study, we were able to identify trends related to recent research data and identify areas that require intensive research in the future.

  • This paper used the network analysis method to analyse a variety of attributes of searcher's search behaviors which was appeared on search access log data. The results of this research are as follows. First, the structure of network represented depending on the similarity of the query that user had inputed. Second, we can find out the particular searchers who occupied in the central position in the network. Third, it showed that some query were shared with ego-searcher and alter searchers. Fourth, the total number of searchers can be divided into some sub-groups through the clustering analysis. The study reveals a new recommendation algorithm of associated searchers and search query through the social network analysis, and it will be capable of utilization.

  • This paper grasps about various features of the coauthorship network based on the co-author frequency in the Korean LIS Research Community. This issue includes many topics such as changable aspects of coauthorship network, properties of higher cooperative authors groups. This work is mostly analyzed through a bibliographic analysis of articles which is published from 2000 to 2009(10 years) in Korean Library & Information Science major four journals. The results show three major implications. 1) There is a various structural changes of coauthorship network on the change of the co-author frequency. 2) There are 21 research pairs in the higher cooperative authors groups with the co-author frequency more than five. 3) There seems that any subjective relations between the articles which is produced by 21 research pairs were not clearly presents.

  • This research applied the concepts of IT architecture and IT governance for managing with an integrated computing environment and organized structure, which base a digital library's management and operation. It also aims to analyze the structural system between information technology of human resources and strategy alignment elements of business, which both constitute the core content. Social network analysis software was used to investigate the complicated relationship between IT and business-related strategy alignment elements. The following is the results of carrying out this research on the social network structure and features of strategy alignment elements for a digital library. First, analysis indexes for strategy alignment elements and social network of a digital library were developed. Second, an analysis model was designed based on the analysis index for social network as to strategy alignment elements. Analysis model was appraised by collecting social network datasets for such strategy alignment elements as Communications, Competency and Value, Governance, Partnership, Scope and Architecture, and Skills against the Business strategy, Information strategy, Business and Technology of a digital library. As for the content of analysis, social network structure and specific features were analyzed in relation to a digital library's (1) General social network, (2) Structure of strategy alignment elements, (3) Strategy fit and Functional integration.

  • In this study, we analyzed the current research state of Library and Information science in top 20 journals from 1990 to 2015, in subject and method perspectives. We developed weighted subject-method network to investigate on centralities of a subject and a method as well as their relations. This network is composed of subject nodes and method nodes and gives a weight on each node by topic occurrence. As a result, for 25 years, management information system, information need analysis, bibliometrics, information policy were top topics. Modeling, literature review, scientific research impact analysis, web data analysis were top methods. A recent rise of text mining is highlighted. We also analyzed communities made from the past 25 years and the recent 5 years. Bibliometrics is extending its field by applying various network analyzing algorithms. Text mining is specialized in medical information system and user interface. This result identifies the interests of excellent studies in Library and Information Science. It also can be fundamental resource for the development of Library and Information Science.

  • In this study, the network analysis of researchers, institutions, and research principal agent was conducted to understand structure characteristics of international cooperation research project implemented from 1997 to 2018. The network of researchers and institutions were decentralized structure. On the other hands, the network of research principal agent was centralized structure. The Soul National University is the leading organization of international cooperation research project. In terms of research principal agent, corporation is the leading principal agent. In additions, the results of the network centroid analysis of the researchers and institutions were correlated with the research funds. As a result, it was confirmed that the network centroid of research organization was linearly related to research funds.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the trend of reading research in Korea's LIS Fields in the past 20 years, divided into the 2000s and 2010s, by establishing a keyword network. To achieve this purpose, keywords were extracted from 489 related articles in the four major journals in the LIS field sourced from the Korean Journal Citation Index (KCI) and then analyzed using NetMiner4. The results of the study were as follows: First, in the case of the 2000s, 'Public Library', 'Bibliotherapy', 'Reading Education', and 'School Library' showed high values of Frequency Analysis, Degree Centrality, and Betweenness Centrality. In the 2010s, 'Reading Education', 'School Library', 'Children', 'Adolescents', and 'Public Library' showed high values of the aforementioned measures. Second, in the 2000s, the establishment of library infrastructure for reading and reading education, the improvement of policies and systems, and reading research through the reading movement were actively conducted. In the 2010s, based on the work and research done in the 2000s, customized user reading studies and various detailed reading research were conducted. Third, to meet the demands of the times for the restoration of humanity with creativity and imagination in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, reading research and professional in-depth research should be conducted in various environments beyond public and school libraries and interdisciplinary research and active joint research between the field and academia are needed.
