  • Comer point is a very important information to a pattern recognition of image processing. And so, many researchers develope various detecting comer point algoritms. But, there are some problems to get comer points by 8 directional chain code when the degree of edge line is not integer multiplication of 45 degree. So, we propose a new algorithm which is combined with morphology and human visual conception for optimal comer points without the above defects. We get a good simulation result by this proposed algorithm Ana so, we think this algorithm is very useful to FA(factory automation} and ship's radar system to know some coastal area from its image.

  • While many organizations believe that cloud computing has the potential to reduce operational cost by abstracting capital assets like data storage center and processing systems into a readily on demand available and affordable operating expenses, still many of these organizations are not aware of the factors determining the performance of cloud computing technology. This paper provides a systematic literature review focusing on the factors determining the performance of cloud computing. In trying to come up with this review, the following sources were searched for relevant articles: ScienceDirect, Scientific.Net, ACMDigital Library, IEEE Xplore, Springer, World Scientific Journal, Wiley Online Library, Academic Search Premier (via EBSCOHost) and EdITLib (Education & Information Technology Digital Library). In first search strategy, approximately 100 keywords related to the research domain like; "Cloud Computing" and "Cloud Services" were used. In second search strategy, 65 keywords more related to the research domain were selected. In the third search strategy, the primary materials were identified and classified according to the paper types (Journal or Conference), year of publication and so on. Based on this study, twenty (20) factors were found that determine the performance of cloud computing. The IT organization needs to consider these twenty (20) factors in order to adopt cloud computing.

  • The electronic structures of Al/RbF/tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminium ($Alq_3$) and $Al/CaF_2/Alq_3$interfaces were investigated using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS). For both systems, the UPS showed a significant valence band shift following the deposition of the thin fluoride layers on $Alq_3$. However, the formation of gap state in valence region and the extra peak N 1s core level spectra showed different trends, suggesting that the alkali fluoride and alkali-earth fluoride interlayer have different reaction mechanisms at the interface between Al cathode and $Alq_3$. In addition, the deposition of Al has considerably less effect on the valence band shift compared to the deposition of both RbF and $CaF_2$. These results suggest that the charge transfer across the interface and the resulting gap state formation may have lesser effect on the enhancement of organic light-emitting device performance than the observed valence band shift, which is thought to lower the electron injection barrier.

  • Influences of environment (indicated by plant associations) and forest management practices on the distribution of Armillaria spp. and genets (vegetative clones) were investigated. A total of 142 isolates of Armillaria was collected from various host trees on pristine and managed sites (thinned and/or fertilized) growing in relatively wet and dry environments in eastern Washington, U.S.A. The incidence of Armillaria spp. was significantly higher in the relatively wetter sites than the relatively drier sites, as indicated by plant associations. However, no differences in Armillaria occurrence were found among different forest management practices (control vs. thinned vs. thinned and fertilized) within both wetter and drier sites. Incidence of Armillaria was significantly different among conifer and shrub species. The highest proportion with Armillaria was found on grand fir (Abies grandis). Based on pairing tests and rDNA sequencing, the 142 isolates were comprised in a total of 20 genets representing three Armillaria species. More diverse Armillaria spp. were found in both relatively wetter and relatively drier sites within the undisturbed control plots, compared to plots disturbed by forest management practices. The results from this study provide baseline information toward understanding how environment and forest management practices influence incidence and diversity of Armillaria species and genets.

  • Person characteristics and the perception of organization climate affect on the performances associated with causes of job stress, and may induce various types of human errors. For incidence, a person's adaptation to organizational traits can influence on a person's performance with tasks assigned as well as job satisfaction, a change of occupation, etc. There are several evaluation methods such as an aptitude test to evaluate the suitability of department allocation. However, only person's traits such as an aptitude has been associated with department allocation and job assignment for the personnel management. This paper shows not only an evaluation result on the job-stress of the workers in nuclear power plants (NPPs), but also the relationships between the job-stress and the coincidences of group-personal, team-personal traits. Then, we systematically deduct a basic information on the factors to be considered to manage the organizational traits and job stress. We expect this result can contribute to enhance the organizational management against to the human errors as well as for the promotion of safety and efficiency of NPPs.

  • R&D innovation is based on the premises of gaining competitive advantage. Innovation is achieved not only through the development of technology for producing newer and better products, but also gaining and sharing information about consumer demands, changes in the market, and competitors actions. Investment in R&D can not adequately be fulfilled solely through market functions because of R&D activities imply high-risk, uncertainty, and because R&D has a public-good characteristic. Most past researches have concentrated on managerial methodologies through research of performance, thus the results are related to studies of innovation performance. This research looks into the effect given on R&D innovation by IT factors and provides a model, and further analysis on how IT factors are applied through this model. By developing a model through the process of re-structuring the model with variables based on the convergent and discriminant validity, and in turn confirming and concentrating on major IT factors through analysis, it will be possible to double the R&D Innovation Performance.

  • Government R&D Project Management in Korea has had considerable difficulties because of the lack of project monitoring systems and insufficient communication. The National Program for Tera-level Nanodevices (TND Program) is a ten-year R&D program for commercialization in the area of nano technology. Collaboration and communication among the various participants such as business companies, universities, and government R&D institutes are key success factors in this R&D program. TND Program office has developed a Web-based project management system. This system consists of mostly four sub-management functions: (1) Milestones management of all R&D projects; (2) DR (Design Review) management as the mechanism for checking the performance against milestones; (3) Project activity management using the WBS (Work Breakdown Structure); (4) Budget management. Additionally, it also has many R&D supporting functions such as technology information bulletin board, community management, and visual summary of project progress and performance. This system is effective for monitoring research project as well as measuring project performance of the overall research program. This Web-based system has become the useful tool of R&D moving target mechanism and effective communication and collaboration tool. System features and adoption process of the system are also suggested.

  • As commercial game engines become available to the public, attempts have been made to use it for general purpose research. This study uses the game engine to develop a medical simulation. Specifically, when the user selects an important portion of the human body, the focus+context visualization is applied to the volume data. We proposes the accumulation based method to make the background part more transparent and naturally fuse it with the focus part. Since the proposed method combines well with the existing volume visualization, the virtual surgery function such as incision is performed smoothly. The game engine is useful for general-purpose research, because auxiliary functions such as collision handling and UI can be efficiently created with the help of it.
