  • The most basic means of communication among humans is a voice. Without speaking of voice technologies, we found it is important and convenient to use a voice in everyday life. But. in consideration to speech recognition systems, we can't always desire a normal voice input as input signal to the system. Generally speaking. a pathological voice as against a normal which is a voice with a problem in the larynx. could be also special case of input voice. Of course, but the distortion of a speech signal by environmental effects i.e., noise or transmission channel was a raised problem. we will take up a pathological voices with laryngeal disease which is essential distortion factor in voice. Also, we are to find out the difference of acoustic parameters distribution between normal and pathological voice by a statistical method in our research.

  • The effect of code selection for a multicode DS/CDMA system is evaluated for a high deta rate transmission, The performance is evaluated in terms of bit error and outage probabilities. The multipath fading channel is modeled as a Nakagami-m distribution which has been known to be appropriate to model the multipath fading in urban as well as indoor channels. From simulation results, it is shown that the concatenated sequence of Walsh code and Gold sequence is most promising among many code selections. The considerations in this paper can be applied to the next-generation mobile communication systems such as IMT-2000 which requires high bit rate transmissions.

  • Optical burst switching(OBS) is a new switching paradigm to supporting bursty traffic on the Internet efficiently. OBS separates burst level and control level. To handle data burst efficiently, the scheduling schemes in optical burst switching systems must keep track of future resource availability when assigning arriving data bursts to wavelength channels. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of three scheduling schemes which are called Horizon, Single-gap and Multiple-gap, as a basic study for the future research of Optical Internet. Thus, firstly, we analyze the trade-off between the performance and the processing overhead of each scheme. In addition, the performance of OBS system which uses Multiple-gap scheduling is evaluated in detail under various network size. We use simulation for performance evaluation in terms of burst loss rate(BLR), wavelength channel utilization and the number of management data.

  • Management optimization is very important in tourism, especially when it is related to productivity. One of the problems in management optimization is tour guide assignment. Well-arranged tour guide assignment will increase productivity while maintaining service quality. A cellular genetic algorithm is one of the methods that can be used to solve this problem. Furthermore, previous study has shown that a cellular dimension increase can lead to promising benefits for certain problems. The objective of this research is to give a clear understanding of the advantages of increasing cellular dimensionality on the tour guide assignment problem by using a cellular genetic algorithm.

  • Since 2002, Architecture Schools in Korea was changing long traditional architectural education system from 4 years generalized architectural engineering curriculum to 5 years professional architecture program. Until 2010, 76 architecture schools have changed their program to 5 years course which was focused to design studio education. It was a very rapid change and there was not much time develop their own system which could represent institutional identity, character of students and local environment. Korea joined as a regular member of Canberra Accord in 2010 and it is meaningful to compare Korean architecture program contents to another country education contents. US architecture programs were selected for this comparison study. The goals of this study are to create a comparable understanding the form of contents of Architectural Education in US and Korea and to verify the substantial equivalence of these systems. To achieve above goals, three public institutes of each country were selected and analyzed with general information, history, resources, curriculum and the matrix of Student Performance Criteria for quantitative comparison. For qualitative comparison education context of programs were analyzed with program missions, the way of advising, professional connection and distribution of faculty loads.

  • This paper presents a wireless sensor network protocol aimed for artificial structure monitoring. The proposed protocol enables the sensor network to operate at a low duty cycle for reducing power consumption with a high degree of synchronization accuracy. It also enables event-triggered measurement of environmental information with a high sampling rate and the transmission of the measured data with a low latency. The feasibility of the proposed protocol is demonstrated through experiments involving three sensor nodes and a sink node. Though a tunnel health monitoring was considered in the paper, the proposed protocol can be easily adopted in other areas.

  • A light guide improves the spatial resolution of a gamma ray imaging system by diffusing the scintillation light. Similarly, light diffusion film, which has been applied to flat-panel-display engineering, spreads the light from the light guide panel. In this study, we adopted light diffusion film for the light guide of a gamma ray imaging system, and evaluated its diffusion characteristics. We compared the light diffusion performance of the film to an ordinary acrylic plate. As a result, the diffusion film widely spreads scintillation light. As for the thickness of the light guide, we acquired more distinct images with three films overlapped than with an acrylic plate. We expect light diffusion film to be a promising candidate for light guides in gamma ray imaging systems.

  • The introduction of smart grid, which is an innovative application of digital processing and communications to the power grid, might lead to more and more cyber threats originated from IT systems. In other words, The Energy Management System (EMS) and other communication networks interact with the power system on a real time basis, so it is important to understand the interaction between two layers to protect the power system from potential cyber threats. This paper aims to identify and clarify the cyber security risks and their interaction with the power system in Smart Grid. In this study, the optimal power flow (OPF) and Power Flow Tracing are used to assess the interaction between the EMS and the power system. Through OPF and Power Flow Tracing based analysis, the physical and economic impacts from potential cyber threats are assessed, and thereby the quantitative risks are measured in a monetary unit.

  • In semantic annotation, semantic concepts are linked to natural language. Semantic annotation helps in boosting the ability to search and access resources and can be used in information retrieval systems to augment the queries from the user. In the research described in this paper, we aimed to identify ontological concepts in scientific text contained in spreadsheets. We developed a tool that can handle various types of spreadsheets. Furthermore, we used the NCBO Annotator API provided by BioPortal to enhance the semantic annotation functionality to cover spreadsheet data. Table2Annotation has strengths in certain criteria such as speed, error handling, and complex concept matching.

  • Manufacturing environs constantly change, and any efficient software system to be used in manufacturing must be able to adapt to the varying situations. In a CAPP (Computer-Aided Process Planning) system, a learning capability is necessary for the CAPP system to do change along with the manufacturing system. Unfortunately only a few CAPP systems currently possess learning capabilities. This research aims at the development of a learning system which can increase the knowledge in a CAPP system. A part in the system is represented by frames and described interactively. The process information and process planning logic is represented using a decision tree. The knowledge expansion is carried out through an interactive expansion of the decision tree according to human advice. Algorithms for decision tree modification are developed. A path can be recommended for an unknown part of limited scope. The processes are selected according to the criterion such as minimum time or minimum cost. The decision tree, and the process planning and learning procedures are formally defined.
