Lightning Overvoltage Analysis According to Interval of Arrester and Overhead Grounding Wire in DC Distribution System (직류배전시스템에서 피뢰기 및 가공지선 접지간격 변경에 따른 뇌과전압 해석)

  • It is anticipated that AC distribution system can be replaced by DC distribution system in the near future because of the operation of various distributed source or microgrid system. However DC distribution system replacing 22.9kV AC distribution line is not sufficiently studied still. This paper describes lightning overvoltage analysis among many research fields should be studied to realize DC overhead distribution systems. DC distribution system is modeled using EMTP and overvoltage is analyzed according to interval of arrestor location, earth interval of overhead grounding wire and grounding resistance. It is evaluated that analysis results can be effectively used to design of future DC distribution system.

  • In this paper, through the example of international lunar exploration mission the equipment was to investigate, and the amount of data transferred per day were identified. Data storage and the data transfer rate (8.4Mbps less) for the satisfaction of the value within the range of available S and X bands was confirmed by using the communication link budget. The result is to define the range of the sensor information can be obtained, as well as from the values of the parameters calculated for the transmission communication systems will be able to define the specifications.

  • The national park should be preserved in accordance with the regulation, but the development planning or facilities management planning has not been faithful to the spirits of the regulation. Recently natural environment has been radically changed, and especially damaged by large scale development of Service Facilities Zone. Thus the effective land use planning of the national park is required. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to propose the alternative site for The Second Service Facilities Zone in Mt. Kyeryong National Park using the GIS, and to compare the alternative site with the existing development site. Site selection was based on Rules of Combination which covers topographic analysis, viewshod analysis, distance analysis from hot spring well, land use analysis, and forest stand analysis.

  • Water turbines have been used in electricity generation for well over a century. Hydroelectricity now supplies 19% of world electricity. Many hydro power plants are operated with Pelton turbines, which is an impulse turbine. The main reasons for using impulse turbines are that they are very simple and relatively cheap. As the stream flow varies, water flow to the turbine can be easily controlled by changing the number of nozzles or by using adjustable nozzles. Scientific investigation and design of turbines saw rapid advancement during last century. Most of the research that had been done on turbines were focused on improving the performance with particular reference to turbine components such as shaft seals, speed increasers and bearings. There is not much information available on effects of blade friction on the performance of turbine. The main focus in this paper is to analyze the performance of Pelton turbine particularly with respect to their blade friction.

  • This paper presents different issues of the real-time compression algorithms without compromising the video quality in the distributed environment. The theme of this research is to manage the critical processing stages (speed, information lost, redundancy, distortion) having better encoded ratio, without the fluctuation of quantization scale by using IP configuration. In this paper, different techniques such as distortion measure with searching method cover the block phenomenon with motion estimation process while passing technique and floating measurement is configured by discrete cosine transform (DCT) to reduce computational complexity which is implemented in this video codec. While delay of bits in encoded buffer side especially in real-time state is being controlled to produce the video with high quality and maintenance a low buffering delay. Our results show the performance accuracy gain with better achievement in all the above processes in an encouraging mode.

  • 정보통신시스템의 하부구조인 LAN은 분산화, 광역화 추세로 발전되고 있으며, 주컴퓨터의 다운사이징화, 멀티미디어화에 따라 정보통신시스템의 구성은 호스트컴퓨터를 중심으로 하는 중앙집중형에서 분산처리를 중심으로 하는 클라이언트/서버형으로 방식이 전환되고 있다. 분산처리환경에 있어서 LAN은 필요불가결한 도구가 되고 있고, 그 역할도 단순히 호스트와 단말간을 접속하는 전송로로서의 기능에서 탈피하여 클라이언트/서버간의 정보를 자유자재로 교환하는 전송로로서 성능, 신뢰성, 확장성 등의 면에서 점점 중요도가 높아지고 있고, 멀티미디어를 위한 고속/광대역 ATM-LAN, 무선 LAN도 개발되고 있다. 본 고에서는 LAN기술 및 제품동향, LAN시장 동향, LAN구성 요소기술 등 정보통신시스템으로서 LAN기술의 발전 및 제반 동향에 대하여 개관하고자 한다.

Deep Neural Architecture for Recovering Dropped Pronouns in Korean

  • Pronouns are frequently dropped in Korean sentences, especially in text messages in the mobile phone environment. Restoring dropped pronouns can be a beneficial preprocessing task for machine translation, information extraction, spoken dialog systems, and many other applications. In this work, we address the problem of dropped pronoun recovery by resolving two simultaneous subtasks: detecting zero-pronoun sentences and determining the type of dropped pronouns. The problems are statistically modeled by encoding the sentence and classifying types of dropped pronouns using a recurrent neural network (RNN) architecture. Various RNN-based encoding architectures were investigated, and the stacked RNN was shown to be the best model for Korean zero-pronoun recovery. The proposed method does not require any manual features to be implemented; nevertheless, it shows good performance.

  • The wavelet packet transform has been applied for QRS detection with squaring, window integration, and impulse filter techniques to cut down the false detection of QRS complex. This real time QRS detection has been performed on Simulink and Matlab. The correct QRS detection rates have reached to 99.75% in the experiment with 15 sets of ECG data from European ST-T database which are kept in Physionet.

On Design of Visual Servoing using an Uncalibrated Camera in 3D Space

  • In this paper we deal with visual servoing that can control a robot arm with a camera using information of images only, without estimating 3D position and rotation of the robot arm. Here it is assumed that the robot arm is calibrated and the camera is uncalibrated. We use a pinhole camera model as the camera one. The essential notion can be show, that is, epipolar geometry, epipole, epipolar equation, and epipolar constrain. These play an important role in designing visual servoing. For easy understanding of the proposed method we first show a design in case of the calibrated camera. The design is constructed by 4 steps and the directional motion of the robot arm is fixed only to a constant direction. This means that an estimated epipole denotes the direction, to which the robot arm translates in 3D space, on the image plane.

  • This study considers the implementation issues of the inter-vehicle communication system for the vehicle platoon experiments via a testbed. The testbed, which consists of three scale vehicles and one RCS(remote control station), is developed as a tool for functions evaluation between simulation studies and full-sized vehicle researches in the previous study. The cooperative communication of the vehicle-to-vehicle or the vehicle-to-roadside plays a key role for keeping the relative spacing of vehicles small in a vehicle platoon. The static platoon control, where the number of vehicles remains constant, is sufficient for the information to be transmitted in the suitably fixed interval, while the dynamic platoon control such as merge or split requires more flexible network architecture for the dynamical coordination of the communication sequence. In this study, the wireless communication device and the reliable protocol of the flexible network architecture are implemented for our testbed, using the low-cost, ISM band transceiver and the 8-bit microcontroller.
