한국형 전투기(KF-X) AESA 레이다 개발 검증을 위한 점진적인 시험평가 전략 (Progressive Test and Evaluation Strategy for Verification of KF-X AESA Radar Development)

  • This paper describes a progressive test and evaluation strategy for verification of Korean Fighter eXperimental (KF-X) AESA(Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar development. Three progressive stages of development test and evaluation were officially performed from simulated test conditions to actual operating conditions according to standards: radar function/performance and avionics integration. KF-X AESA radar development is repeatedly verified by progressive stages consisting of five tests: Roof-lab ground test, System Integration Laboratory(SIL) ground test, Flying Test Bed(FTB) test, KF-X ground test, and KF-X flight test. As a result, the risk factor decreases as stages and tests progress. Therefore, development test and evaluation of KF-X AESA radar are successfully performed at low development risk.

탄약 간 정밀교전을 위한 시험평가기법 연구 (A Study on the Test and Evaluation Methodology for the Precise Encountering Scenario between Ammunitions)

  • This paper proposes an improved test and evaluation methodology to be conducted for a in-flight threat-countermeasure encounter scenario. Although the conventional test method adopted in the precedent researches allows high precision and safety, such full-scale method is practically not appropriate to apply to small-scale test rounds for evaluating the subparts of the ammunition. To address this problem, this study suggests a readily-applicable, small-scale test and evaluation method of the subpart of the ammunition in firing test. In the threat-countermeasure encounter scenario, the results of several tests demonstrate that the proposed technique does not deteriorate the precision when the engagement point should be adjusted.

연구개발사업에 QFD(품질기능전개)를 적용한 시험평가 항목 선정에 관한 연구 (The Study of the Test and Evaluation Item Applies QFD in Research & Development Progject)

  • Purpose: Test & Evaluation items are main contents which verify performance of the development system and they are deduced going through project management system stages. However, there is no systematic or standardized framework for Test & Evaluation items, so a lot of differences occur between projects and people are questioning whether verification items are selected for the optimization of the development system. In this regard, this research proposes the process of deducing Test & Evaluation items in a systematic way during a development stage by applying QFD (Quality Function Deployment) technique which reflects customers' requirements. Methods: Test & Evaluation items are recognized as customers' requirements, and QFD technique which refines and gathers various requirements of customers effectively during general products' development stage is applied to complete HOQ (House of Quality) Conclusion: There is no specific methodology for Test & Evaluation items, so currently, they are selected by including items which are given by similar projects or higher authorities. However, by utilizing QFD technique, selection of evaluation items which goes through more systematic process is expected to be possible.

  • 한국형발사체 3단에 사용하기 위한 7톤급 엔진의 개발 시험 결과를 제시하였다. 2기의 engineering model 엔진을 가지고 수행된 연소시험은 시험조건에 따라 지상 시험과 고공 시험으로 구분된다. 엔진의 작동성 검증을 위해 수행된 short duration과 long duration 시험은 성공적으로 완료되었다. 내구성 검증을 위해 수행된 full duration 시험에서는 일부 개선 사항들이 발견되었다. 종합적으로, 엔진 개발에 힘을 더할 수 있는 고무적인 데이터들이 7톤급 엔진 시험으로부터 획득되었다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 새 엔진들이 제작되고, 제작된 엔진은 연소시험을 통해 지속적으로 검증될 예정이다.

  • This article is focusing on the improvement of weapon system test & evaluation, aimed at the weapon system in the research development stage. This article suggests improvement directions in three aspects(organization and system, skilled manpower and technology, test facilities of weapon system test & evaluation) as follows. 1) Weapon system test & evaluation organization and system a. Establishment of comprehensive test & evaluation system b. Making regulation for comprehensive test infrastructure management. c. Standardization of test & evaluation process, which can be used in special subject to army, navy and air force. 2) Skilled manpower and technology of weapon system test & evaluation a. Training & education, management of test & evaluation experts. b. Establishment of skill management system of test & evaluation. 3) Test facilities of weapon system test & evaluation a. Establishment of comprehensive improvement direction of test & evaluation installation and equipment. b. Consideration of counter measures to prevent overlapping investment, and to use the test & evaluation resources efficiently. c. Establishment of organic network for the effective use of test & evaluation installation and equipment. d. Establishment of detailed cooperation plan for the commonage of test & evaluation facility and equipment.

  • 항공우주연구원에서는 정지궤도용 우주발사체에 적용 가능한 고성능 상단 엔진에 대한 선행기술 개발이 진행 중에 있다. 한국형발사체(KSLV)는 gas generator를 이용한 개방형 사이클 엔진이며, 저궤도 위성 발사를 위한 발사체로 향후 정지궤도위성 발사체를 위해서는 이보다 높은 비추력을 가진 고효율의 상단엔진이 필요하게 된다. 이러한 요구조건을 충족시키기 위해 다단 연소방식의 엔진이 필요하며, 본 논문에서는 당 연구원이 진행 중인 다단 연소 사이클 엔진 개발 진행 현황과 향후 계획을 기술하였다.

  • Autonomous weapon systems act according to artificial intelligence-based judgement based on recognition through various sensors. Test and evaluation for various scenarios is required depending on the characteristics that artificial intelligence-based judgement is made. As a part of this approach, this paper proposed a LiDAR point cloud augmentation method for mixed-reality based test and evaluation. The augmentation process is achieved by mixing real and virtual LiDAR signals based on the virtual LiDAR synchronized with the pose of the autonomous weapon system. For realistic augmentation of test and evaluation purposes, appropriate intensity values were inserted when generating a point cloud of a virtual object and its validity was verified. In addition, when mixing the generated point cloud of the virtual object with the real point cloud, the proposed method enhances realism by considering the occlusion phenomenon caused by the insertion of the virtual object.

국내 구매사업 시험평가에 미치는 영향요인 분석 (The Analysis of Factors Affecting Test and Evaluation in Domestic Purchase Program)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to analyse affecting factors of Test and Evaluation and to improve the institution of Test and Evaluation in the Domestic purchase program. Methods : The domestic acquisition program is currently small in terms of size, but it is gradually increasing every year. Still, the domestic purchase program has insufficient regulations and procedures compared to the other procurement methods including research & development. Various problems are likely to occur between test and evaluation group, and defense industries regarding the regulations during Test & Evaluation. Therefore, the regulations and methods need to be amended to upgrade the current domestic purchase program into an effective and flawless one. In this paper, six variables have been chosen by the help of experts working in Ministry of National Defense (MND), Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), Army Headquarters and DAPA. Results : The six variables are effectiveness of proposal evaluation, fairness of test and evaluation, sufficiency of operational capabilities, seasonal period of test and evaluation, fulfillment in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) of the industries, and guaranteeing appropriate environment for related enterprises' participation. Conclusion : This paper can help defense industries to enhance their development capabilities, and to perform tests more fairly and effectively considering the key factors identified in this research.

  • 개량된 성능의 상단엔진 개발을 위해 다단연소 사이클 액체로켓엔진의 연구가 진행 중이다. 재점화 기술을 개발하기 위한 수류시험, 점화시험, 연소시험을 계획하여 수행하였다. 재점화 시 터보펌프에서 캐비테이션 현상을 발생시킬 수 있는 연료라인으로의 퍼지가스 유입문제를 해결하기 위해, 각 단계의 시험결과를 분석하였다. 분석결과를 바탕으로 기포제거 밸브의 작동, 퍼지밸브와 엔진 연료밸브의 열림 중첩시간 줄임을 통해 퍼지가스 유입문제를 해결하였다. 이를 바탕으로 재점화 연소시험을 성공적으로 수행하였다.

  • The research and development stage can improve the goal level of the project through systematic operation and management of systems engineering. The test evaluation tasks in the R&D process have a lot of connections with the system engineering in terms of requirement management, and the methodology for deriving the requirements when establishing the test evaluation items has been consistently required. In this paper, we propose the process of effectively establishing and using QFD (Quality Function Deployment), a tool to manage customer requirement, and drawing up HOQ (House of Quality) in the search and exploratory development stage of the self - propelled mortar project.
