The Influence of Land Cover Types on Sensibility Image in Urban Greenspace (도시녹지의 포장유형이 감성이미지에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study was conducted with the object of measuring sensibility image through an experiment with human bodies and indexing human feelings according to land cover types. The temperature by land cover types formed the lowest temperature in planted areas and the highest temperature in paved areas. The wind velocity is stronger in bare grounds, the surface of water and building areas than planted areas, grassland and paved areas. In the case of using a globe thermometer, a solar controled device confirmed the planted areas. In summer, an increase of thermal sensation are indicated a decrease of amenity, and the sensation which has high correlationship is in order by amenity, thermal sensation, airflow sensation and humidity sensation.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of local factors affecting number of tuberculosis death by urban and rural areas. Method: The Partial Least Square(PLS) Regression analysis was used to solve the problem of multicollinearity and number of samples. Result: As a result of analysis, The number of tuberculosis deaths in urban and rural areas is about three times as large. As a result of analysis about Regional Characteristics Factor, In general, children, elderly people, and economically vulnerable populations are more likely to be exposed to tuberculosis. In differential results, it shows that environmental factors such as ultrafine dust and sulfur dioxide have a significant impact on the number of tuberculosis deaths in urban areas and social factors such as depression experience rate in rural areas. Conclusion: The Tuberculosis prevention and management policies that reflect the characteristics of urban and rural areas are needed in the future.

Characteristics of Algal Abundance and Statistical Analysis of Environmental Factors in Lake Paldang (팔당호 조류발생 특성 및 수질환경인자의 통계적 분석)

  • The spatio-temporal abundance pattern of algae in Lake Paldang from 2002 to 2004 was investigated. The concentration of chlorophyll a representing algal biomass had fluctuated intensively throughout the year. Among three years, the highest algal biomass was shown in 2002, and typical growth peak of concentration of chlorophyll a was occurred in spring and autumn. There had been frequent rainfall in spring drought period in 2003 and it resulted in the decrease of the algal biomass. The distribution pattern of four algal groups on the surface water of Lake Paldang showed different abundance by season and by water area. In particular, different algal growth characteristics by water areas were observed. Influences of various environmental parameters on algal abundance in four water areas of Lake Paldang were analyzed statistically. From the results of Peason correlation analysis, it was understood that the kinds and affects of environmental parameters were different according to water areas and seasons. Based on the factors analysis of environmental parameters on the concentration of chlorophyll a, stepwise regression models whose independent variables were the factors produced by factor analysis and dependent variable was the concentration of chlorophyll a were derived by water areas and seasons. As a whole, factors related with organics and photosynthesis were revealed to have high affects to algal abundance, whereas limiting nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen showed little affect in Lake Paldang.

Assessing Average Residence Time as a Physical Descriptor for Shellfish Farming Areas in Jaran Bay, Korea (자란만 패류양식해역의 물리환경 설명을 위한 평균체류시간 산정)

  • Residence time is defined as the time taken for a material in a system to leave the system. The residence time characteristics in shellfish aquaculture determine the dispersion of excretion from aquaculture farms, along with the supply of food by seawater exchange. In this study, we estimated the spatial distribution of average residence time in the shellfish farming area using a particle tracking model. As a result, a relatively short average residence time of about 20 days or less was calculated in most areas, but an average residence time of more than 40 days was calculated in the inner areas. Relatively long average residence times were calculated along the west coast compared to the east coast, with the longest average residence time of more than 50 days in the northwestern areas. It can be inferred that the disturbance of the benthic ecosystem caused by shellfish farms is likely to be large because of the relatively weak dispersion of excrement from shellfish farms located on the west coast, especially in the northwest region. This distribution of average residence time is important for understanding the potential effects of seawater exchange on the environmental sustainability of shellfish farms, along with the seawater circulation characteristics of Jaran Bay.

Principal Component Analysis of the Classification of Yacon Cultivation Areas in Korea (주성분 분석을 이용한 야콘의 재배지대 구분)

  • To establish cultivation areas for the stable production of yacon, this study investigated the productivity and functional component contents of yacon in eight regions of Korea from 2011 to 2013. The results of principal component analysis using these data were as follows. A survey of 16 agricultural traits and meteorological data in the eight yacon cultivation areas showed that five factors (average temperature, maximum temperature, minimum temperature, frost-free days, and fructooligosaccharide content) were highly significant at the p < 0.001 level. Among the 16 agricultural traits and meteorological data used in the main component analysis of yacon cultivation areas, approximately eight contributed to the first principal component, and approximately four contributed to each of the second and third principal components. In particular, factors related to productivity, fructooligosaccharide content, and temperature change were considered important criteria for the classification of cultivation areas. The cultivation areas were divided into three groups by principal component analysis. In Group I, containing the Jinbu and Bonghwa areas in the mid-highland region at 500-560 m above sea level, the product yield was the highest at 2,622-3,196 kg/10a, the fructooligosaccharide content was also the highest at 9.04-9.62%, and the mean temperature was $17.3-18.5^{\circ}C$. In Group II, the areas Suncheon, Okcheon, Yeoju, and Gangneung, at 20-180 m above sea level, had the lowest yield, relatively lower fructooligosaccharide content, and the highest temperature. The areas in Group III showed values intermediate between those of Group I and Group II. For the different yacon cultivation areas, the product quantity and fructooligosaccharide content differed according to the environmental temperature, and the temperature conditions and number of frost-free days are considered important indicators for cultivation sites. Therefore, in terms of producing yacon with high quality, cultivation at 500-560 m is considered to give a higher yield and functional fructooligosaccharide content.

Forest Fire Risk Analysis Using a Grid System Based on Cases of Wildfire Damage in the East Coast of Korean Peninsula (동해안 산불피해 사례기반 격자체계를 활용한 산불위험분석)

  • Recently, forest fires have become frequent due to climate change, and the size of forest fires is also increasing. Forest fires in Korea continue to cause more than 100 ha of forest fire damage every year. It was found that 90% of the large-scale wildfires that occurred in Gangwon-do over the past five years were concentrated in the east coast area. The east coast area has a climate vulnerable to forest fires such as dry air and intermediate wind, and forest conditions of coniferous forests. In this regard, studies related to various forest fire analysis, such as predicting the risk of forest fires and calculating the risk of forest fires, are being promoted. There are many studies related to risk analysis for forest areas in consideration of weather and forest-related factors, but studies that have conducted risk analysis for forest-friendly areas are still insufficient. Management of forest adjacent areas is important for the protection of human life and property. Forest-adjacent houses and facilities are greatly threatened by forest fires. Therefore, in this study, a grid-based forest fire-related disaster risk map was created using factors affected by forest-neighboring areas using national branch numbers, and differences in risk ratings were compared for forest areas and areas adjacent to forests based on Gangneung forest fire cases.

  • The goal of this research paper is to respond to changing paradigms in urban planning and derive requirements needed for urban archiving for the purpose of urban growth. In this research, the Delphi research method was used twice on experts on urban archiving in order to derive areas and required elements of urban archiving. Moreover, each area and elements were formalized and categorized. The results of this research is as follows. In the 1st Delphi research, 6 areas (natural environment, liberal arts environment, historical and cultural environments, social and educational environment, industrial and economic environment, transportation and communication environment), a total of 62 elements. In the 2nd Delphi research, six areas, a total of 32 elements.

Long-term Variation and Characteristics of Water Quality in the Asan Coastal Areas of Yellow Sea, Korea (아산연안 수질환경의 특성과 장기변동)

  • Long-term trends and distribution patterns of water quality were investigated in the Asan coastal areas of Yellow Sea, Korea from 1975 to 2005. Water samples were collected at 3 stations and physicochemical parameters were analyzed including water temperature, salinity, suspended solids(SS), chemical oxygen demand(COD), dissolved oxygen(DO) and nutrients. Spatial distribution patterns were not clear among stations but the seasonal variations were distinct except COD, SS and nitrate. The trend analysis by principal component analysis(PCA) during twenty years revealed the significant variations in water quality in the study area, Annual water qualities were clearly discriminated into 4 clusters by PCA; year cluster 1988-1991, 1994-1997, and 1992-1993/1998-2005. By this multi-variate analysis we can summarize the annual trends as the followings; salinity, suspended solids and dissolved oxygen tended to increase from late 1980's, increased pH and COD from 1992, and decreased salinity and increased nitrogen and COD from 1990 due to the runoff frow agricultural lands causing eutrophication.

  • The digital private line network provides synchronous data communications over dedicated facilities at several speeds. This service became available to several major metropolitan areas in 1986 with speeds of 4800, 9600, 56000 b/s. The network is expected to grow to include many city areas. In this paper, synchronization plan for the network is proposed.

Stream Water Quality Monitoring in closed Valley Areas for Preserving Stream Water Quality of Puk'ansan National Park (북한산국립공원내 휴식년 계곡의 수질관리를 위한 계류수질모니터링)

  • This research was planned to propose some suggestions on the management of stream water quality in the closed valley areas of the Puk'ansan National Park during July 1998 to June 1999. A closed valley area should designate whole valley area. Stream water quality monitoring should include investigation on cations ($Ca^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, $K^+$, $Na^+$), anions ($Cl^-$, $SO{_4}^{2-}$) and suspended solids. A counterplan for stream water preservation and its practical application should be considered before closing a valley area. Also, the results of stream water quality in the closed valley areas in the National Park should be informed to the public. Discharged water from private areas such as a Buddhist temple, shelter, resting place, shopping center, etc. in the National Park should be checked and cleaned. We need to establish regulations on the utilization of stream side area in the park, and trails near the closed valley should also be included in the areas.
