Antimicrobial activities of aucubin, an iridoid glycoside, were investigated. Gram-positive bacterium, S. aureus appeared to be more sensitive to aucubin's aglucone, aucubigenin than Gram-negative, E. coli did. Antimicrobial activities produced by aucubigenin may result in part from the inhibition of RNA and protein biosyntheses in bacterial cells. The conversion of aucubin iridoid glycoside into aucubigenin, an aglucone, appears to be a prerequisite step to exhibit the antimicrobial activities.

The central issue in this particular research is the seemingly inadequate achievement of optimum performance in the construction process, either with respect to value for money for the client and the entire construction supply chain or value in terms of the utility derived from built assets in spite of efforts by government and governmental bodies such as the Construction Industry Development Board (cidb) to increase industry performance. Therefore, based upon an extensive review of related literature, the paper reports on effects and causes of non-value adding activities in the construction industry in general, and South African construction in particular. The research findings indicate that activities that can be referred to as non-value activities are not only prevalent, but they can also be held responsible for performance related issues in terms of cost, time, quality and health and safety (H&S) in construction; and the exploration of pluralism in the research methodology may result in a robust model based upon the system dynamics approach.

The anti-oxidant activities of fucosterol isolated from the marine algae Pelvetia siliquosa were investigated. Fucosterol exhibited a significant decrease in serum transaminase activities elevated by hepatic damage induced by CCl$_4$-intoxication in rats. Fucosterol inhibited the sGOT and sGPT activities by 25.57 and 63.16%, respectively. Fucosterol showed the increase in the anti-oxidant enzymes such as hepatic cytosolic superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase activities by 33.89, 21.56 and 39.24%, respectively, in CCl$_4$-intoxicated rats. 우라늄 피폭후 효소활성도가 내부피폭의 biomarker로서의 가능성을 연구하기 위하여 수서생물인 잉어(Caprinus carpio)의 복강내 우라늄 투여시 간조직에서 일어나는 여러가지 효소계의 변화를 조사하였다. 이러한 효소활성도의 변화는 우라늄 내부피폭의 biomarker로서 가능성을 가지고 있으며 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 6일째까지 우라늄을 주사하여 적출한 간에서의 전체단백질량은 계속 감소하고 있다. 2) 세포내의 lysosome내에 함유하고 있는 acid pretense와 ${\beta}-glucuronidase$의 활성도는 6일째 투여후까지 활성도가 감소하고 있다. 3) Alkaline phosphatase의 경우 6일째 우라늄 투석후까지 증가하고 있으며 반대로 acid phosphatase의 경우 6일째 우라늄 투여후까지 활성도가 급격히 증가하였고 glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase의 활성도는 완만하게 증가하고 있다. 4) Creatine kinase의 활성도는 완만한 감소를 보이고 있으며 malate dehydrogenase는 첫번 우라늄 투여후에 활성도가 급격히 감소하였고 3일째 우라늄 투여후에는 활성도가 거의 나타나지 않았다.

We investigated the antioxidant and angiotensin I converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activities of red snow crab Chionoecetes japonicas shell (RSCS) hydrolysate by enzymatic hydrolysis and its molecular weight cut-off fractions. The RSCS hydrolysate was fractionated through two ultrafiltration membranes of 3 and 10 kDa cut-offs. Three fractions (<3 kDa, 3-10 kDa, and >10 kDa) were evaluated for total amino acid composition, antioxidant activities using 2'-azino-bis[3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid] ($ABTS^+$) radical scavenging and superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like activities and reducing power assays, and ACE inhibitory activity using Hou's method. Although all fractions showed activity, the <3 kDa fraction of RSCS hydrolysate exhibited the greatest $ABTS^+$ radical scavenging, SOD-like and ACE inhibitory activities. However, these fractions exhibited low reducing power. These results suggest that the low-molecular-weight enzymatic hydrolysate of RSCS could be used as a functional ingredient to control oxidative stress and ACE activity.

Effects of panaxydol, panaxynol and panaxytriol isolated from Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer on some enzyme activities were determined. Activities of ATPase, membrane-bound enzyme from Sarcoma 180 and rat liver were slightly inhibited by panaxydol. Activities of 5'-nucleotidase, membrane-bound enzyme and succinate cytochrome c reductase in mitochonidria from sarcoma 180 and rat livers were significantly inhibited in a dose-dependent manner by panaxynol. The inhibitory effects of panaxydol and panaxynol on succinate cytochrome c reductase activities were more potent than those on 5'-nucleotidase activities and panaxynol was found to be a very potent inhibitor of succinate cytochrome c reductase. Activities of glucose-6-phosphatase in endoplasmic reticulum from Sarcoma 180 and rat livers were not affected by all three polyacetylenes. These results suggested that the inhibitory effects of panaxydol and panaxynol on enzyme activities might contribute to their biological activities.

This study is to find out that pre-service elementary teacher's the effects of a ecology mentor club activities to the environmental sensitivity and the effects on the environment friendly attitude of elementary school students. This study has been aimed at 25 students of 5th grade in B metropolitan city S elementary school in 2015, B educational University of elementary pre-service teachers 10 people, Elementary School Teachers10 people to apply a ecology club mentor activities to investigate a comment participated in environmental mentor club activities of elementary pre-service teachers and the environmental sensitivity and the effects on the environment friendly attitude of elementary school students. Procedures for this research was the topic for setting ecology club mentor activities of elementary school students, pre-service elementary school teachers receive consultation from field teachers and guide to ecology club mentor activities of elementary school students. Before the ecology club mentor activities, pre-test environmental sensitivity and the environment-friendly attitude of were carried out. After the experiment, post-test of environmental sensitivity and environmental friendly attitude check was carried out. Also, investigate a comment of pre-service elementary teachers participate and guide to ecology club mentor activities of elementary school students. After the experiment results are as follows. First, the ecology club mentor activities of pre-service elementary school teachers are effective to cultivate environmental sensitivity of the elementary school students. Second, the ecology club mentor activities of pre-service elementary school teachers are effective to cultivate eco-friendly attitude of the elementary school students. Third, after ecology club mentor activities of elementary school students, pre-service elementary school teachers now have a very good feeling. Based on these results, suggestions for further research are as follows. First, the variety of ecological club programs target to elementary school students are needed. Second, there is a need for continuing research on the ecology club activities.

This research investigates the effect of leisure activities on lifestyle satisfaction of senior citizens. The target of this research is 202 people over 60 years of age who live in Seoul. Collected data was analyzed using frequency, percentage, average, T-test, one-way ANONA, and logistic regression analysis. SPSS and the Excel PC Program were used for the analysis. The following is the summary of the result of this research. First - in terms of participation in leisure activities: more active participation is observed with the elderly who have a spouse than with those who do not in every kind of leisure activity (except for the pastime activities). Second - all of the variables indicating the level of satisfaction from activities of the seniors who have a spouse are by far higher than those of the elderly who have no spouse. Third - the leisure activities and the satisfaction from the activities prove affective variables on whether they have a spouse or not. Notably, the religious leisure activities are enjoyed more by those senior citizens who are married. Comparatively, the unmarried senior citizens participate more actively in recreational and pastime leisure activities. This study suggests various practical means to promote leisure activities to the elderly and to raise the level of satisfaction received from those activities, as well as to help those who are concerned with understanding and improving lifestyle satisfaction of the elderly population. Nonetheless, this analysis is limited due to the restriction on the number of objects and samples studied. Therefore, studies to analyze leisure activities by regions in order to account for a more balanced set of systematical tools should follow.

Given the large investment and prevalence of knowledge management (KM) in organizations, it has become important to analyze the effects of KM activities on organizational performances. A theoretical framework is proposed to investigate the impact of KM activities on innovation capabilities in the IT service industry. This study considers KM activities as the major determinant that enhances absorptive capacity. KM activities enhance employees'ability to obtain external knowledge, resulting in increasing intellectual capital. Thus, this study proposes that absorptive capacity plays a mediating role between KM activities and innovation capability. Additionally, this study investigates the key antecedents of KM activities that promote employees' knowledge sharing. Based on prior studies on KM, this study posits KM team activities and top manager support as KM activities. The proposed research model was tested by using survey data collected from 556 employees in the IT service industry. PLS (partial least squares) was employed for the analysis of the data. The findings of this study showed that KM activities and absorptive capabilities play a significant role in enhancing service innovation and process innovation in the IT service industry. The results also shed light on the mediating role of absorptive capacity between KM activities and innovation capability. Moreover, both KM team activities and top manager support serve as the salient antecedents of promoting employees' knowledge sharing.

Purpose: This study was don(B to describe research-related activities and attitudes toward research, barriers to and support needs for undertaking research in clinical nurses. Method: Data were collected by a questionnaire from 238 clinical nurses with over one year clinical experience working at 2 university hospitals. Results: Research related activities included courses or lecture about Nursing Research 85.7%, journal reading at least once every 2 to 3 months 30.0%, memberships in academic societies 29.4%, participation in academic conferences 45.0%, conducting research 45.4%, research utilization 24.6%. The score for attitudes toward research was 3.08(range 1-5). The score of barriers to undertaking research was 3.37(1-5) and the score for support needs for undertaking research 4.14(1-5). Attitudes toward research significantly correlated with barriers to undertaking research(r=.- 36, p=.000). Barriers to undertaking research significantly correlated with support needs for conducting research(r=.23, p=.000). Nurses with experience in conducting research had more negative attitudes toward research(t=-2.130, p=0.034) and more barriers to undertaking research than those without experience in conducting research (t=2.194, p=0.029). Conclusion: These results suggest that it is necessary to increase positive attitudes toward research in clinical nurses and nursing organizations need to provide strong supports for nurses conducting research.
