Developing the Evaluation System of University Library for Activating Inter-libray Research Information Resource Sharing (학술정보 공유 활성화를 위한 대학도서관 평가 방안)

  • Korea is in the state of insufficient supply of research information, a gap of information between universities and absolute depends on foreign information resource. So it is necessary to activate inter-libray research information resource sharing. To encourage consciousness and spontaneous effort to inter-libray research information resource sharing, university libray evaluation system of contribution toward resource sharing is required. This study intends to survey present condition of inter-libray research information research information in Korea, and develope evaluation system about inter-libray research information resource sharing. And propose operating methods of evaluation system about insert established university evaluation system or execute independently.

  • As demands for the maritime communications increase, a variety of functions and information are required to exchange via elements of maritime systems, which leads communication traffic increases in maritime frequency bands, especially in VHF (Very High Frequency) band. Thus, effective resource management is crucial to the future maritime communication systems not only to the typical terrestrial communication systems. VHF data exchange system (VDES) enables to utilize more flexible configuration according to the communication condition. This paper focuses on the VDES communication system among VDES terminals such as shore stations, ship stations and aids to navigation (AtoN) to address efficient resource allocation. We propose a resource management method considering a MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technique in VDES, which has been widely used for modern terrestrial wireless networks but not for marine environments by scheduling the essential communication resources. We introduce the general channel model in marine environment and give two metrics, spectral and the energy efficiencies to examine our resource scheduling algorithm. Based on the simulation results and analysis, the proposed method provides a possibility to enhance spectral and energy efficiencies. Additionally, we present a trade-off relationship between spectral and energy efficiencies. Furthermore, we examine the resource efficiencies related to the imperfect channel estimation.

A Decision Scheme of Amount of Required Resources for Adaptive Resource Reuse in Wireless Multi-hop Systems (무선 멀티홉 시스템에서 적응적 자원 재사용을 위한 요구 자원량 결정 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a decision scheme of amount of required resources in wireless multi-hop systems which can reuse radio resources adaptively among relay stations (RSs). Base stations (BSs) can allocate resources dynamically based on amount of required resources of each RS. Moreover using resource reuse with this allocation method can increase amount of available resources in multi-hop systems. Generally, BSs allocate same amount of resources for RSs which share and reuses same resources for each other. Since amount of required resources are different among these RSs, a decision scheme of a specific value which can represent various required resources of RSs is needed. We propose this scheme which can decide the representative value of required resources of RSs adaptively based on the amount of required resources and the buffer state of each RS. Our simulation results show that the proposed scheme can increase performance of a multi-hop system. System capacity with the proposed adaptive scheme is increased by twice as large as one with a fixed representation value.

A Dynamic Resource Allocation scheme with a GPS algorithm in Cellular-based Hybrid and Distributed Wireless Multi-hop Systems (셀룰라 기반의 하이브리드 분산식 멀티홉 시스템에서의 GPS 알고리즘을 이용한 동적 자원할당 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a generalized processor sharing - dynamic resource allocation (GPS-DRA) scheme which allocates the required amount of resources to each hop dynamically in cellular-based multi-hop systems. In the hybrid-distributed system considered in this paper, a central controller such as a base station (BS) should allocate resources properly to each hop. However, due to changing channel condition with time, it is difficult to allocate as much amount of resources as each hop needs for transmission. GPS-DRA scheme allocates the required amount of resources dynamically to each hop based on the amount of resources used in previous frames by each hop. The amount of control overhead generated by GPS-DRA scheme can be very small because a central controller doesn't need to collect all link information for resource allocation. Our simulation results show that channel utilization increased about 16% and cell capacity increased about 65% compared to those of fixed resource allocation (FRA) scheme.

A New Distributed Conference Architecture using Resource Lists (리소스 리스트를 사용한 새로운 분산형 컨퍼런스 구조)

  • In this paper, We have proposed a new distributed conference architecture which can reduce largely SIP(Session Initiation Protocol) messages exchanged between servers and participants in distributed conference environment by using resource lists which consist of conference participants URIs. This architecture can also reduce processing time and loads of conference servers. In our proposed method, the number of SIP messages required for participating in the conference can be largely reduced, and the number of SIP messages required for subscription of conference event package and maintaining sessions can also be largely reduced by using resource lists. Therefore expandibility of the conference system increases and network traffic can be reduced by using our conference architecture. And We also have proposed in this paper a new conference information data format with some added elements that are necessary for processing resource lists. Furthermore the procedure for dynamically adding conference servers to the conference environment has been suggested, and the exchanging process of SIP messages and conference information data between conference servers and conference participants has been also suggested. The performance of our proposed system has been evaluated by experiments.

Multipath-Based Congestion Control Scheme in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크에서의 멀티패스 기반 혼잡 제어 기법)

  • In wireless sensor networks, due to the many-to-one convergence of upstream traffic, congestion more probably appears. Network congestion can be alleviated by controlling incoming traffic, but using traffic control can violate fidelity level required by applications. In this paper, we propose multipath-based congestion control scheme alleviating congestion by resource control for wireless sensor networks. When congestion occurs, the multipath-based congestion control scheme distributes network traffic through multiple alternate paths, and consequently, the scheme enables to detour in the congested spot and increase resource utilization. Our results show that our multipath-based congestion control scheme can satisfy fidelity level required by applications and alleviate congestion effectively.

  • The painting process of large ships is an intense manual operation that typically comprises 9-12% of the total shipbuilding cost. Accordingly, shipbuilders need to estimate the required amount of anti-corrosive coatings and painting resources for inventory and cost control. This study aims to develop a software system which enables the shipbuilders to estimate paint area using existing 3D CAD ship structural models. The geometric information of the ships structure are extracted from the existing shipbuilding CAD/CAM system and used to create painting zones. After specifying the painting zones, users can generate the paint faces by clipping structural parts inside each zone. Finally, the paint resources may be obtained from the product of the paint areas and required paint thickness. Implementing the developed software system to real shipbuilders' operations has contributed to improved productivity, faster resource estimation, better accuracy, and fewer coating defects over their conventional manual calculation methods for painting resource estimation.

  • As cities become recently more crowded, various and enlarged, it is required a cutting-edge technology for fire industry. According to this, a transition is attempted from production intensive industry toward knowledge based industry. At this point, in order to develop fire industry into knowledge based high value industry, industry innovation capability is required and it heavily depends on human resource competitiveness. Accordingly, in this study is aimed to look the status of domestic fire industry personnel training by classifying the fire industry manpower by field skill personnel, high technology personnel, and professional research personnel and to suggest problems with personnel training followed by each classification and how to improve them.

  • SVP-capable router supporting guaranteed services on the internet generally uses a packet scheduler based on the Weighted Fair Queuing(WFQ) algorithm to secure required qualities of traffic flows. In this paper we proposed a RSVP-capable router based on the LOFQ(Latency optimized fair queuing) algorithm that improves the efficiency in bandwidth utilization with keeping the compatibility with the original RSVP procedure. The proposed router reserves the optimal amount of resource for each flow to secure its required quality-of-service with the recently introduced LOFQ scheduler. The results of the simulation applying the proposed router to an evaluation network showed that it may yield the gain of up to 30% compared to that in the original one in terms of the number of admitted flows.

  • In green building certificated housing complex, although various planning factors in terms of 'Energy resource and Environmental impact' were adopted, the residents' consciousness for their economical and psycholgical effect has not been found. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to find out the usability of environment-friendly factors, with regard to the aspects of 'energy resource and environment impact' and residents, consciousness for them in order to provide the useful information to design the user-oriented green building house complex better than previous ones. the finding were summarized as follows: 1)Increasing awareness of 'green building certificated housing complex', Resident should feel contribution to the environment. 2)When mass housing planning, the development of sensible certification is required. 3)Green building certificated housing complex should change from 'certification for the Financial compensation' to 'certification for the Contribution to the environment'.
