  • The purpose of this report is to investigate and analyze development and achievement of flowing and high-strength concrete by reacy mixed concrete companies in Korea. For this purpose, the investigation was divided into three parts, i.e., superplasticizers, flowing concrete, high-strength concrete. And, they were asked to quality control manager in ready mixed concrete companies. Many researches have been carried out. And, flowing concrete is applied to field in a few case. In order to improve practical applicability of high-strength concrete and make concrete strength higher, to begin with, profound research for concrete ingredients will be needed along with presentation of methods for obtaining workability and quality assurance.

  • Objectives The purpose of this case study is to report the effect of Gwakyangjeonggisangamibang on adenoidal hypertrophy. Methods The subject was a child with adenoidal hypertrophy. This patient was treated with oriental herbal medicine. The improvement was observed by subjective symptoms and A/N ratio, and OSA-18 survey was performed to compare quality of life before and after the treatment. Results After the treatment, the symptoms of adenoidal hypertrophy were relieved. A/N ratio of this child went down from 0.9 to 0.65. Also, the significant OSA-18 score change demonstrated that the patient's quality of life was improved. Conclusions This study showed that a conservative treatment using herbal medicine can be an effective choice for adenoidal hypertrophy before deciding to performing an adenoidectomy.

  • Gastroesophageal reflux disorder (GERD) refers to reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus leading to esophagitis, reflux symptoms (e.g. heartburn, regurgitation and non-cardiac chest pain) sufficient to impair quality of life, or long term complications. Non-erosive reflux disease (NERD), a subdivision of GERD, is diagnosed when there were some reflux symptoms without esophagitis and mucosal breaks at endoscopy. We report that severe NERD symptoms and lower quality of life which have not responded to more than 6 months' western medical therapy (acid suppression) were successfully improved with traditional oriental medicine.

  • Concrete is the most generous, universal main structural material. There is active study for processing quality, stable quality mangement. Especially, strength is basic factor of evaluating stability of concrete building. Regaining required strength and homogeneity is very important to get self-stability in building to evaluate another characteristic. Concrete strength is important to the quality management. But, result of hardened concrete's quality test is hardly reflected to works immediately. When required strength is not enough, it could bring out safe problem, economic and administrative cost. It is pointed out that problems from strength evaluation, so early evaluation of concrete quality is required. From the trend that accelerating high quality concrete development, improving the method of quality test and early evaluation measure is urgent project. Throughout this report, it is suggested the method with use of microwave to evaluate 28-days concrete strength.

  • The present standard of drinking water quality is not reached to the guidelines of WHO and US EPA recommended. The appraisal of safety is not appropriate by the results of intermittent and limitted analysis. 45 items of drinking water quality are regulated in the Korean standard and 9 items for inspection designated by Seoul City. This report is the results of analysis of the water quality in the water stations of Seoul which are concerned with the items of Korean water quality standard and the priolity pollutnats recommended by WHO. In the results, 45 items of water quality, and the priolity pollutants were not exceeded to the standard and criteria, while DDT, heptachlor-epoxide, THMs, benzo(a)pyrene, Ba, Al, Gross beta, $^{226}$Ra, $^{90}$Sr were detected, the levels were not exceeded to the WHO guidelines. In ordes to evalute the safety of drinking water quality, besides of the existed items of standard, new hazardouse pollutants should be considered monitored continenously. For the regulation of hazardous pollutants, it may be introduced from the risk assessment. According to the relevant assessment, the acceptable risk of pollutants estimated could be applied to set the water quality standard or recommendations or quidelines as well as the number of monitoring.

Clinicians should consider various surgical procedures to overcome the problems. We report a case with various surgical procedures used such as inferior alveolar nerve repositioning, sinus bone graft, and autogenous block bone graft using the coronoid process and ramus to overcome severe vertical and horizontal alveolar bone atrophy.
