Wavelength and repetition-rate tunable optical pulse-trains for ultrafast optical time- and wavelength division multiplexing are generated from a semiconductor fiber ring laser by optical injection mode-locking. The pulse trains show the pulse with of ${\sim}10$ ps and the wavelength tuning of wider than 30 nm at various repetition-rates of 10 GHz, 20 GHz, 30 GHz and 40 GHz, respectively.

Background: This study investigated effective posture for gluteus medius rehabilitation training and effects of isometric muscle activity by electrophysiology through EMG while performing dynamic isotonic behavior of weight placed differently on upper limbs. Method: 16 healthy male subjects 20 to 29 years of age volunteered for the study. Lateral stabilizer right gluteus medius activity was assessed using EMG while the right lower extremity maintains single limb support, and the left upper extremity elevation movement maintains 5 seconds without load, 1RM to 1 repetition, 5RM to 5 times, 10RM to 10 times, 5RM and 10RM maintain 5sec. Results: Comparison of the mean value of EMG data showed a statistically more significant difference in upper extremity elevation movement on opposite upper extremity added weight than one that was not added on a single limb weight bearing posture(p>.05). Weight supported side gluteus medius activity for 1RM, 5RM, 10RM weight difference and movement repetition did not differ(p>.05). Comparison in maximum value showed statistically significant differences in not adding weight on upper limb elevation exercise and 1RM, 5RM, 10RM repeated behavior. Elevation behavior and repetition appeared over 70% of MVIC. Conclusion: Unilateral weight bearing stance added weight in the opposite upper limb elevation movement was an indirect exercise to effectively stimulate gluteus medius activity. Applying various added weight will have effective exercise on the early stages of rehabilitation because activity gluteus medius did not differ through added weight.
Recently, many scholars have emphasized the importance of English listening ability for smoother communication. Most audio materials, however, were recorded in a quiet sound-proof booth. Therefore, students who have spent so much time listening to the ideal audio materials are expected to have difficulty communicating with native speakers in the real life. In this study, we examined how well thirty three Korean university students and five native speakers will repeat the recorded English sentences under noise and speed conditions. The subjects' production was scored by listening to each recorded sentence and counting the number of words correctly produced and determined the percent ratios of correctly produced words to the total words in each sentence. Results showed that the student group correctly repeated around 65% of all the words in each sentence while the native speakers demonstrated almost perfect match. It seemed that the students had difficulty perceiving and repeating function words in various conditions. Also, high-proficiency student group outperformed the low-proficiency student group particularly in their repetition of function words. In addition, the student subjects' accuracy of repetition remarkably dropped when the normal sentences were both sped up and mixed with noise. Finally, it was observed that the Korean students' percent correct ratio fell down as the stimulus sentence became longer.
Low-k wafer engraving process has been investigated by using UV pico-second laser with high repetition rate. Wavelength and repetition rate of laser used in this study are 355 nm and 80 MHz, respectively. Main parameters of low-k wafer engraving processes are laser power, work speed, assist gas flow, and protective coating to eliminate debris. Results show that engraving qualities of low-k layer by using a laser with UV pico-second pulse width and high repetition rate had better kerf edge and higher work speed, compared to one by conventional laser with nano-second pulse width and low repletion rate in the range of kHz. Assist gas and protective coating to eliminate debris gave effects on the quality of engraving edge. Total engraving width and depth are obtained less than $20\;{\mu}m$ and $10\;{\mu}m$ at more than 500 mm/sec work speed, respectively. We believe that engraving method by using UV pico-second laser with high repetition rate is useful one to give high work speed in laser material process.
Monostatic sonar systems localize targets using the time information of pulse transmission and receipt. Whereas, in asynchronous bistatic sonar systems, receivers need to detect direct blast to localize targets, since a source doesn't share pulse information with receivers. In this paper, we propose a direct blast detection algorithm, which estimates PRI (Pulse Repetition Interval) of direct blast and adaptive thresholds. Experimental results show the proposed algorithm has robust direct blast detection performance in the environment where strong background noise and target signal exist.
A regenerative Er-doped fiber amplifier system for a high-repetition-rate optical pulse train is investigated for the first time. A signal pulse train with a wavelength tuning range of 18 nm is produced by a passive mode-locked fiber laser based on a nonlinear polarization rotation technique. In order to realize the amplification, an optical delay-line is used to achieve time match between the pulses' interval and the period of pulse running through the regenerative amplifier. The 16 dB gain is obtained for an input pulse train with a launching power of -30.4 dBm, a center wavelength of 1563.4 nm and a repetition rate of 15.3 MHz. The output properties of signal pulses with different center wavelengths are also discussed. The pulse amplification is found to be different from the regenerative amplification system for CW signals.
The purpose of this paper is to examine Paul Auster's Leviathan according to Slavoj Žižek's theory. Analyzing the characters in Leviathan, this paper chiefly discusses the postmodern subject's anxiety and obsessive repetition that the lack of the big Other led to. Section II explains the disintegration of the big Other and the subject's anxiety and obsessive repetition by the interpretation of the characters: Peter Aaron, Maria Turner, and Benjamin Sachs. Aaron wants to write on Sachs's life to overcome his uneasy subject's condition, and to establish the consistent and whole world. But his writing fails to meet his desire, owing to uncertainty of his understanding, and the incompleteness of his writing. In case of Maria, her uneasy subject's condition led to her obsessively repetitive picture-shooting herself and others, which proved to be a meaningless struggle for filling the void of the big Other and herself. Although Sachs already knows the lack and inconsistency of the big Other, he also repetitively tries to establish the consistent and whole Other. In Section III, this paper examines Sachs's terror as he struggles for the preservation of the big Other. His extreme striving also fails to reestablish the big Other as it loses its symbolic effectiveness in the postmodern era because he does not grasp the big Other as an empty Symbolic order, and rejects the premise of the big Other itself.

Electronic systems based on solid state devices have changed to be more complicated and miniaturized as the electronic systems developed. If the electronic systems are exposed to HPEM (high power electromagnetics), the systems will be destroyed by the coupling effects of electromagnetic waves. Because the HPEM has fast rise time and high voltage of the pulse, the semiconductors are vulnerable to external stress factor such as the coupled electromagnetic pulse. Therefore, we will discuss about malfunction behavior and DFR (destruction failure rate) of the semiconductor caused by amplitude and repetition rate of the pulse. For this experiment, the pulses were injected into the pins of general purpose IC due to the fact that pulse injection test enables the phenomenon after the HPEM is coupled to power cables. These pulses were produced by pulse generator and their characteristics are 2.1 [ns] of pulse width, 1.1 [ns] of pulse rise time and 30, 60, 120 [Hz] of pulse repetition rate. The injected pulses have changed frequency, period and duty ratio of output generated by Timer IC. Also, as the pulse repetition rate increases the breakdown threshold point of the timer IC was reduced.
Study, it is the purpose to develope a cheap and compact pulsed $CO_2$ laser with pulse repetition rate range of 1 KHz. We used a IGBT switched power supply as a power supply, which is cheap and simple comparing to others. PIC one-chip microprocessor was used for precise control of a laser power supply on the control part. And the laser cavity was fabricated as an axial and water cooled type. The laser performance characteristics as various parameters, such as pulse repetition rate, gas pressure, and gas mixture rate have been investigated. The experiment was done under the condition of total pressure of $CO_2$: $N_2$:He = 1:3:10, 1:1.5:5, 1:9:15 from 6 Torr to 15 Torr and pulse repetition rate from 100 Hz to 900 Hz. As a result, the maximum average outpu was about 20.5 W at the total pressure of 15 Torr, the gas mixture $CO_2$:$N_2$:He = 1:9:15 and the pulse repetition rate of 700 Hz.
