  • The purpose of this study was to investigate children's self-perceptions of social competence in three different levels of peer status and to determine the degree of congruence between children's perceptions and teachers' ratings of social competence. The subjects were 46 bpys and 44 girls identified as popular neglected and rejected by peers in preschool and in first and second grades. A sociometric test was used to identify children's peer status. Children's self-perceptions were assessed by the social Competence Scale for Young Children and teachers' assessment of children's competence was collected by a rating scale. The data were analyzed by 3-way ANOVA 2-way MANOVA for repeated measures and pearson product-moment correlations. The results showed that children's self-perceptions of social competence were generally positive and not significantly different by peer status and grade level in three of the four domains. For the maternal acceptance domain the degree of acceptance perceived by neglected group decreased with grade while those of popular children increased. The degree of congruence between children's perceptions and teachers' ratings were different by peer status. Popular children's estimation of their social competence was more congruent with teachers but neglected and rejected children overestimated their competence.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate children's conception of liquid conservation according to their ages and tasks in the boiling phenomenon The subjects were thirty 4-year-olds, thirty 6-year-olds, and thirty 8-year-olds recruited from two day-care center, one kindergarten, and one elementary school, in Seoul. Statistical methods used for data analysis were frequencies, percentiles, means, standard deviations and repeated measures ANOVA. As the result, there was a significant difference in children's conception of liquid conservation in the boiling of water according to their ages. 8-year-old children showed higher levels of cognition than 4 and 6-year-olds. There was no difference in children's conception of liquid conservation in the boiling of water according to tasks.

  • Using Video Display Terminals(VDT) in the working environment often causes health complaints in the neck and shoulder region. This study was conducted on ten subjects, in order to investigate the change of electromyographic activities in the neck region(sternocleidomastoid muscle, upper trapezius muscle and erector muscle of cervical spine)with regards to the screen height and document holder position. A total of six different conditions of screen height and document holder position were measured during subjects performed a text-entry task for a duration of 10min. The raw EMG signal was transmuted into the root mean square(RMS). Two-way ANOVA for repeated measures was used to analyse the effects of the two factors. As a result, changing the screen height and document holder position has no effect on electromyographic activities in the neck region.

  • The purpose of this study is for old-aged women to analysis variation of Body composition and BMD so that help to keep healthy life by doing low-intensity workout. the subjects for this study consist of 20 persons being aged over 65 women, doing not regular workout, living in P metropolitan, and do workout for 12 weeks by catergorizing into 2 groups in half depending upon whether doing workout or not. Two-way Repeated Measures ANOVA of SPSS 18.0 was used for data processing. the statistical significant is set as p<.05. In result, there's none of dramatical difference in radius, ulna's BMD. there is dramatical difference in (%)Fat, WHR in workout group but none difference in LBM.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the kinematic sequence patterns according to movement times during Karate choku-tsuki. Method: Ten Korea national Karate athletes participated in this study. Participants asked to perform jodan and chudan choku-tsuki. 30 infrared cameras were used to measure angular kinematic of elbow, shoulder, trunk, pelvis, hip, knee, ankle. Results: The two-way repeated measures ANOVA revealed significant effects for the joints (p<.05). But no significant effect for the movement time and interaction of joints x movement time existed for the kinematic sequence variables. Conclusion: For karate kumite players to reduce the movement time of punch, it is necessary to train kinematic sequences that allow each joint to rotate at a relatively similar timing.

  • This study investigated age differences in children's expression of pride and shame by their age, and type and level of task difficulty when they succeeded of failed on tasks. The subjects were 55 4-year-old children from 2 day-care centers and 37 7-year-old children from I elementary school. Each child participated in pride and shame assessment sessions. Data were analyzed by repeated measures ANOVA, t-test, paired t-test, Pearson's correlations. When they succeeded on tasks, 4-year-olds showed more pride than 7-year-olds. More pride was shown when subjects succeeded on difficult than on easy tasks. An interaction effect for pride was found between age, and type and level of task difficulty. Seven-year-olds showed more shame than 4-year-olds when they failed on tasks. More shame was shown when subjects failed on easy than on difficult tasks. The expression of pride was positively related to the expression of shame.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the effects of auricular acupressure on nausea, vomiting and serum serotonin level in gynecological cancer patients with chemotherapy. Methods: The research was a randomized control group pretest-posttest design. Participants were 26 patients for the experimental group, and 26 patients for the control group. Auricular acupressure in Shen men, Occiput, Stomach and Sympathetic points was administered to those in the experimental group. Data were analyzed using ${\chi}^2$-test, t-test, ANCOVA, and repeated measures of ANOVA. Results: The experimental group had reported significantly lower mean nausea NRS (Number Rating Scale), INVR (Index of Nausea, Vomiting, and Retching), and serum serotonin level than those in the control group. Conclusion: Results of the study show auricular acupressure is an effective nursing intervention for reducing chemotherapy-induced nausea, vomiting and serum serotonin level of gynecological cancer patients.

  • Objectives : This study was performed to investigate the effect of Jahyungchim(based on Needle-embedding therapy) for breast augmentation to 20's female patients. Methods : Data were obtained from 20 female patients belonged to 70A or less size who had been treated Jahyungchim. We measured bust circumference(BC) and underbust circumference(UC) and analyzed the correlation between BC and UC by repeated measures ANOVA. Results : BC and the difference between BC and UC were significantly increased and UC was significantly decreased by Jahyungchim. Conclusions : In this study, we can conclude that Jahyungchim has an effect on breast augmentation to 20's Female Patients.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of a weight control program and compliancy in overweight women. Method: This program was composed of strategies to modify diet and exercise and to change compliance and self determination over an 8 week period. The subjects were 19 overweight women who participated in our project voluntarily. Data was collected from May 4 to Jun 30 of 2007. The program consisted of regular rapid walking exercise, diet, mobile phone messages and e-mail. The data was analyzed by Repeated Measures ANOVA using the SPSS WIN program. Result: According to 3 assessment periods, there were significant differences in body weight, body mass index, and compliance. There were no significant differences in self determination. Conclusion: These findings suggest that more intensive interventions may be needed to demonstrate a change in self determination.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the kinematic adaptation of head and trunk to ascend stairs and a ramp. Subjects were healthy young adults. Three-dimensional kinematic patterns of head and trunk movements were examined during stair climbing and steeper ramp climbing. Methods: Fourteen young subjects with no history of chronic or acute musculoskeletal, cardiovascular or respiratory disorders took part in this experiment. Kinematic data were collected using a 6 camera Vicon system (Oxford Metrix, Oxford, England). Repeated measures ANOVA analyses were used to investigate the effect of gait mode on kinematics of the head and trunk. Results: The angle of the trunk while ascending stairs or a ramp was modified in three human planes (p<0.05). The angle of head and neck during the ascending of stairs or a ramp was not changed in the sagittal plane but was changed in the frontal and transverse planes (p<0.05). Conclusion: This study describes and discusses some basic kinematic mechanisms underlying the pattern of head and trunk changes during stair and ramp climbing and showed that postural adaptation of the head and trunk is necessary to maintain balance.
