It has been very important in various industry fields to improve the fatigue strength characteristics of bearings such as bearing life, fatigue limit, etc., because such poor properties could result in shortening the machinery life as well as in decreasing the accuracy. However, no successful heat treatment criterion seems to be available at present. In this study, the effect of the $170^{\circ}C\times120min$ tempering cycles repeated after $380^{\circ}C\times80min$ oil quenching for $800^{\circ}C$ spheroidizing-annealed bearing steel (STB2) as base metal on the $120^{\circ}C$ high temperature rotary bending fatigue strength characteristics were investigated, including the effects on hardness, Charpy impact value and micro-structure, in order to seek for the best heat treatment condition finally. The important results obtained are as follows : 1) The optimal cycle of tempering so that the fatigue strength .sigma. could become the highest was the 4th cycle. And it is confirmed that this $\sigma_{F}$ is about 6 times more increased than that of base metal, and about 1.3 times more increased than the case of the 1 cycle tempered. 2) As a result of the investigation for the effects of tempering cycles on hardness, the hardness at the tempering number of 2 thru 5 cyles was not decreased severely ; only about 10% decrease from those of the quenched and 1 cycle tempered case. Such hardness is equivalent to $H_{R}$/C61-62 with no bad effect on anti-abrasion of bearing steel. 3) In the case of 2 thru 5 cycle tempering as well as 1 cycle tempering, the impact value was not so improved comparing with the case of quenching, but an increase of 5 to 10% could be expected at least. 4) It was experimentally confirmed that the control of the mechanical properties improvement such as fatigue strength and fatigue life for bearing steels could be possible by the number of tempering cycles.

The Moho structure and its deformation in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula were estimated using gravity and topography data. Gravity signals from the upper and lower crust were separated using a filter that was computed from isostacy and elastic thickness. The result of this study shows three characteristic features of the Moho deformation. First, the Moho folding structure is parallel to SKTL (the South Korean Tectonic Line), which indicates positive association with the collision of the Yeongnam and Gyeonggi Massifs and repeated compression afterwards. In contrast, noticeable deformation of the Moho was not observed along the Imjingang Belt, which is interpreted as another continental collisional belt in the Korean Peninsula. Second, the Moho beneath the Gyeongsang Basin has remarkably risen; this seems to be the result from both the collisional compression and buoyancy caused by magmatic underplating. Third, the Moho deformation is shallowest in the east of the Taebaek Mountains and deepens toward the west, consistent with the topographic characteristic of the Korean Peninsula of "high east and low west". It can be interpreted as the results of the opening of the East Sea and Ulleung Basin. A tectonic explanation for this could be the ascent of the mantle induced by continental rifting and horizontal extension at the early stage of the opening of the East Sea. The Moho deformation model computed in this study correlates well with the earthquake distribution and crustal movement measured by GPS. We suggest that the compression along the SKTL is still exerted, consequently, the Moho deformation is active, although it may be weak.

Purpose: The present study was conducted to investigate whether the changes in structure and activity of antioxidative enzymes, superoxide dismutase(SOD) and catalase(CAT) present in the eyes appeared when they were repeatedly exposed to UV-A, and reveal the correlation of these changes. Methods: Each enzyme solution was prepared from the standardized SOD and CAT, and repeatedly exposed to UV-A of 365 min under the condition of 30 minutes, 1 hour and 2 hours a day over 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 days. Structural denaturation of SOD and CAT induced by repeat UV-A irradiation was confirmed by the electrophoretic analysis, and their enzyme activity was determined by the colorimetric assay using the proper assay kit. Results: SOD exposed repeatedly to UV-A showed the polymerization pattern through the electrophoretic analysis when it was repeatedly exposed under the condition of at least 1 hour a day however, the change of its activity was found to be less than 12%. On the other hand, CAT repeatedly exposed to UV-A showed reduced size of the electrophoretic band which indicated a structure denaturation and its activity was significantly decreased. In the case of that the repeat exposure time was longer, CAT activity was completely lost even though some enzyme band was shown in the electrphoretic analysis. Conclusions: From these results, it was revealed that the degree and pattern in structural denaturation of antioxidative enzymes differently appeared according to the type of enzyme, and the degree of structural denaturation was not always consistent with the reduction in enzyme activity.

Compared to metal, CFRP has excellent mechanical characteristics in terms of intensity, hardness, and heat resistance as well as its light weight that it is used widely in various fields. Therefore, this material has been used recently in the aerospace field. On the other hand, the material has shortcomings in terms of its extreme vulnerability to damage occurring internally from an external impact. This study examined the intensity up to its destruction from repeated use with the internal impact of a CFRP laminated plate that had also been exposed to external impact obtain design data for the external plate of aircraft used in the aerospace field. For the experimental method, regarding the quasi-isotopic type CFRP specimen and orthotropic CFRP specimen that are produced with a different layer structure, steel spheres with a diameter of 5 mm were collided to observe the resulting impact damage. Through a 3-point flexural fatigue experiment, the progress of internal layer separation and impact damage was observed. Measurements of the flexural fatigue strength after the flexural fatigue experiment until internal damage occurs and the surface impacted by the steel spheres revealed the quasi-isotopic layer structure to have a higher intensity for both cases.

The Chungju and Seosan Groups have been known usually as Precambrian formations in Korea. But their relative and absolute ages have been controvericial problem in relation with other geologic system such as so-called Ogcheon and Yeoncheon Systems in Korea. This study has mainly focused on the corelation of the Chungju Group with the Seosan Group in their stratigraphy, structure, metamorphism, and iron ore deposits. In the process of study, the auther surveyed and reclassified the Chungju and Seosan Groups and corelated with Gyeonggi and Ogch cheon metamorphic belts and got some new data. The Chungju iron-bearing formations showing transtitional relation with the Gyeonggi Gneiss Complex and the Jangamri Formation consisting mainly of pebble bearing calcarious phyllite, should be seperated from the Gyemyeongsan formation which is mainly composed of metavolcanic rocks. The Jangamri Formation and the coaly phyllite, which can be corelated respectively with the Hwaggangri Formation and Changri Formation in Ogcheon Group, are repeated in the Gyemyeonsan and Munjuri Formations with the overturned anticlinal folding(F1). So the Chungju Group which was defined as an indipendant geologic unit from the Ogcheon Group should be limited only on the Chungju iron Formation. The Seosan Group can be classified stratigraphically such as Seosan Formation consisting of iron-bearing quartzite and mica schist, Daesan Formation overlying unconformably on the Seosan Formation and Gyeonggi Gneiss Complex. Taean Formation overlying unconformably on the Daesan Formation should be seperated from Seosan Group. There are many similarity in the stratigrphy, structure, and metamorphic facies between Chungju and Seosan Groups exept the metavolcanic rocks in the Gyemyeongsan and Munjuri Formations and the pebble bearing calcareous phyllite in the Jangamri Formation. The two Groups were deformed with two kinds of differant stages, the first shows $N30^{\circ}-40^{\circ}E$ trend of fold axis, the second $N70^{\circ}-80^{\circ}W$ respectively. The Seosan Formation, which is the lowest formation in Seosan Group and bearing the iron formation, was metamorphosed at 2500 m. y. before. These age is similar with the metamorphic age of Gyeonggi metamorphic belt and with the age of Algoman and Kenoran Orogenies which devide the Precambrian into Archean and Proterozoic Era. So the Seosan Formation, which is included in some migmatitic rocks of Gyeonggi Gneiss Complex, is the oldest formation in Korea and can be corelated with the Anshan Group which bears the oldest iron formation in China. The metamorphic facies of the Precambrian metamorphism in Seosan area is simillar with that of Chungju area, showing high temperature-low pressure amphibolite facies which is corelated with the Gyeonggi metamorphic belt, the oldest metamorphic belt in Korea ($650^{\circ}-680^{\circ}C$, 3.2-4.4 Kb). The high temperature intermediate pressure amphibolite facies in Seosan area with the low temperature-intermediate presure greenschist facies of Taean formation is corelated with that of Ogcheon Group ($590^{\circ}-640^{\circ}$ C, 5.2-6.3 Kb). The Chungju and Seosan iron formations were deposited in Archean, showing geochemical composition of Precambrian iron formations. The Chungju iron formation was mainly formed by the chemical precipitation, on the other hand, the Seosan iron formation was formed by alternated action of chemical and detrital depositions.
This paper describes the importance of selecting explanatory variables(e.g. land price determinants) in hedonic pricing models employed in predicting real estate price, and explores dynamics of the land price determinants over time. The City of Junju was chosen as the study area, and repeated measured price data of standard lots over 17 years were analyzed. We applied a three-level modeling approach to this data in consideration of its nested data structure and longitudinal characteristics. Main land price determinants we focused on are primarily based on items included in the standard comparison table of land price, which is an official hedonic pricing model used by Government to estimate land price for tax levy. Our result shows that the land price fluctuation over 17 years was not uniform over the whole study area with each neighborhood revealing different price trend, and as such warrants longitudinal model components. In addition, some of determinants previously recognized as important were proved insignificant. It was also found that significant determinants at a particular time point lost its power gradually over time and vice versa. It is expected that more accurate prediction of price would be possible when taken account for this dynamics of price determinants over time in applying hedonic pricing model method.
Recently, the sonnet and the shijo, each representing French and Korean formal poetries, are tend to be read with the eyes only, as were more accustomed to written literature. But even after almost three millennia of written literature and increased use of digitalized poems, poetry retains its appeal to the ear as well as to the eye. To read a poem only by eyes might be wrong because it is designed to be read aloud by mouth and understood by ear, and will decrease the aesthetic sense otherwise. It is essential to find the right way to recite a poem in this dramatically changed society, and is especially important when many shijos are changing into digitalized forms to adapt the new wave of our society. The sonnet and the shijo emphasize the importance of the harmony of sounds and rhythms with certain structure, and have their own prosodies. The emotions of the speaker in poems are expressed with words. When they are pronounced. each phoneme has its own phonemic characteristics. When comparing the The Broken Bell(Baudelaire) and Chopoong ga (Jong Seo Kim) in terms of prosody and phonetics. the speakers emotions are closely related with the phonetic structure of each word. In The Broken Bell, the phonetic value of rhymes, repeated phonemes, concentration of front and back vowels. rhythms of onesyllable words shape the overall image of this poem describing the productivity of bells as appose to the sterility of the soul. Chopoong ga also shows the determined and strong will of the speaker by frequent glottalized sounds. distribution and concentration of certain vowels. and frequent use of plosives. As you see in these examples, phones, beats, and rhythms are not the mere transmitter of meaning but possess their expressive values of their own and should be the first to be considered when reciting a poem.
Two needle cokes (NC-A and NC-B) that differ in both the texture and impurity content to each other were graphitized at $2000-3000{\circ}C$, and the average particle size, size distribution and surface area were compared after milling. Their anodic properties in Li secondary batteries were also analyzed. Two materials showed a higher degree of graphitization with an increase in the preparation temperature, however, the NC-B series was less graphitized than NC-A due to the presence of impurities and less ordered mosaic texture. The mein particle size of the milled powder was proportional to the degree of graphitization, but the surface area showed the opposite trend. The highly graphitized materials yielded powders of lower uniformity in the size distribution. The discharge capacity of the resulting carbons steadily decreased in the temperature range of 1000 to $2000^{\circ}C$ due to the depletion of carbonaceous interlayers that contain crystal defects. A later increase in the discharge capacity was observed at $>2000^{\circ}C$, which arises from the formation of graphitic interlayers. The milling process gave rise to a sloping discharge curve at >1.0 V, but this was converted to a plateau at <0.25V after a repeated cycling or additional heat-treatment at $1000^{\circ}C$. The discharge at >1.0V likely comes from the disordered surface structure formed during the milling process. The evolution of a plateau at <0.25 V suggests that this disordered structure transforms to a more ordered graphitic one upon a cell cycling or heat-treatment.
Background: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of measurements obtained from 3-dimensional computerized tomography and 3-dimensional cephalogram constructed by using the frontal and lateral cephalogram of six human dry skulls. Materials and Methods: After CT scans and each cephalograms were taken, 3-dimensional coordinates (X, Y, Z) of landmarks were obtained using computer programs. In this study, the accuracy of both methods were determined by means of 14 linear measurements compare with caliper measurements. Results: The standard deviation of landmarks of 3-dimensional CT and 3-dimensional cephalogram were 0.23 mm, and 0.30 mm in X axis, 0.27 mm and 0.25 mm in Y axis, and 0.27 mm and 0.31 mm in Z axis. In both methods, the standard deviation were less than 0.5 mm in all landmarks, and the most of landmarks showed less than 1 mm in range. Concerning the accuracy, the mean difference between 3-dimensional CT and manual measurements was 0.33 mm, and 1.13 mm between 3-dimensional cephalogram and manual measurements. The distance between RGo and LGo showed the largest difference (2.03 mm). There were highly significant, and large correlation with manual measurements in both methods (p<0.01). Conclusion: It is concluded that closeness of repeated measures to each skulls reveal the precision of both methods. Computerized tomography and cephalogram for 3-dimensional measurement of maxillofacial structure are equivalent in quality to caliper measurements.
