  • Recently, there have been increased much concerns about repair and rehabilitation works for aged concrete structures. In particular, it is known that due to repeated overburden vehicle there are significantly increasing number of aged concrete bridge slabs, which are strongly needed to construct and rehabilitate by innovative construction method. The objective of this research is to develop the new construction method of concrete slab in bridge structure, which can contribute to minimize the traffic congestion during the repair and rehabilitation works of aged concrete slab, and can also sufficiently assure the quality through the minimization of in-situ works at the site. I-beams with punch holes, which are substituted instead of main reinforcing steels in concrete slabs, will be manufactured in accordance with the specification in the factory, and will be preassembled into the panel. After erecting the preassembled panels in the site, concrete will be poured into the slab panel. This research is to investigate physical properties of I-Beam concrete slab through static test.

  • This paper presents an approximate reanalysis methods of structures based on substructuring for an effective optimization of large-scale structural systems. In most optimal design procedures the analysis of the structure must be repeated many times. In particular, one of the main obstacles in the optimization of structural systems are involved high computational cost and expended long time in the optimization of large-scale structures. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate efficiently the structural behavior of new designs using information from previous ones, without solving basic equations for successive modification in the optimal design. The proposed reanalysis procedure is combined Taylor series expansions which is a local approximation and reduced basis method which is a global approximation based on substructuring. This technique is to choose each of the terms of Taylor series expansions as the basis vector of reduced basis method in substructuring system which is one of the most effective analysis of large -scale structures. Several numerical examples illustrate the effectiveness of the solution process.

  • The argument about enlarging or limiting the function of the Korea Maritime Police. Agency (KMPA) has been and will be repeated. In this paper, the author highlights the internal and external issues facing KMPA, stemming partly from deficiencies of its struggles for advancement of the organization and partly from shortcomings of political support far it. And he urges KMPA to change the organizational culture for maintaining its identity and characteristics as a lead maritime agency by practising a scientific management system for maximizing cost-effectiveness of its administrative resources. In addition, he also suggests that KMPA adopt the Total Quality Management System for quality improvements in services and greater efficiency in its organizational structure to meet the future competition in the changing political and legal environment. he concludes by providing a 6-point vision statement for KMPA from the standpoint of favoring enlarging the function of KMPA.

  • BSCT(60/30/10) powder specimens were fabricated by sol-gel method and BSCT thick films were fabricated by screen-printing method. The coating and drying procedure was repeated 6 times. Then the structural properties as a function of the sintering temperature. As a result of the TG-DTA, exothermic peak was observed at around $670^{\circ}C$ due to the crystalline phase. The BSCT sintered at $1430^{\circ}C$ showed the cubic perovskite structure. The prosity and thickness of the BSCT thick films was decreased with sintering temperature. The thickness of BSCT thick films at $1420^{\circ}C$ was approximately $40{\mu}m$.

  • A new unsaturated hydroxy acid was isolated from the stem bark extract of Albizzia julibrissin through repeated silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography. The chemical structure of the new acid was determined as (E)-4-hydroxy-dodec-2-enedioic acid on the basis of several spectral data including 2D-NMR. The stereochemical feature of the double bond was determined to be E on the basis of the coupling pattern of related proton signals in the $^1H-NMR$ and COSY experiments.

  • Antithamnion miharae (Tokida) Itono was investigated in field and laboratory culture. The plant grows in lower littoral zone through out the year in Korea. The gland cells occur scarcely or commonly according to the populations, but the terminal hairs in the female plants are not observed. The structure of vegetative thallus and the reproductive organs in culture are similar to those of field materials, except for the number of gonimoblasts, which become five to six in contrast to one to three of the field. A typical Polysiphonia-type life history is repeated in culture. This species which produces tetrahedral tetrasporangia is markedly distinguished from Antithamnion glandulifera sensu Kylin (=Antithamnionella glandulifera (Kylin) Wollaston) which produces cruciate tetrasporangia, while the plants reported by Dawson (1962) and Wollaston (1971) as A. glandulifera seem to be conspecific with A. miharae by the fact that they have the tetrahedral tetrasporangia in stead of cruciate ones.

  • This paper was developed to computer program, which is about to analyize nonlinear behavior of structural member and frame including to geometric and material nonlineality, and formulated to the relationship of stress-strain of steel. In order to examplity the efficiency of this program, the numerical analysis was done for H section steel beam and square steel tube column subjected to monotonic load, and braced steel frame subjected to repeated horizontal forces. The obtained results by this program were in accordance with existing experimental and analytical results respectively.

  • The study of mechanical properties and fracture behaviour of carbon/carbon composites is significant to its application and development. These are dependent on microstructure and properties of reinforcing fibers and matrix, fiber/matrix interface and porosity/cracks present in the composites. In the present studies high-density carbon/carbon composites have been prepared using PAN and various pitch based carbon fibers as reinforcements and pitch as matrix with repeated densification cycles using high-pressure impregnation and carbonization technique. Scanning electron microscopy has been used to study the fracture behaviour of the highly dense composites and correlated with structure of the composites. The geometry of reinforcement and presence of unfilled voids/cracks was found to influence the path of crack propagation and thereby the strength of composites. The type of stresses (tensile or compressive) accumulated also plays an important role in fracture of composites.

  • $BiFeO_3/Pb(Zr_{0.95}Ti_{0.05})O_3$ (BFO/PZT) heterolayered thin films were fabricated by the spin coating method on a Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si substrate using metal alkoxide solutions. The coating and heating procedure was repeated 6 times to form the heterolayered films. The thickness of the BFO/PZT films after one cycle of drying/sintering is about 30-40 nm. All BFO/PZT films show a void free uniform grain structure without the presence of rosette structures. It can be assumed that the crystal growth of the upper BFO layers can be influenced by the lower PZT layers. As the number of coatings increased, the dielectric constant increased, so that the value for the 6-layer film was 1360 at 1 KHz.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a force-platform system suitable for real situations in industry. The developed system is a 3-axis measurement type. It consists of force-transmission, force measuring circuit, and the software that analyzes the measured force. The force-transmission transmits forces to 3 axes, which has a physical structure to minimize the interference among those axes. Force measuring circuit consists of DSP (digital signal processor) for flexible disposal of change of measurement algorithm, elimination of noise and maintenance of precision. The functions of the software are the calibration which revises the measurement error occuring during data acquisition, and various analyses of forces. The result of the experiment shows that the developed system has about 1% measurement error, is stable for repeated experiments, and is not effected by temperature change.
