  • The domestic solar radial ion data have been measured at 16 different sites all over the country since the beginning of 1980. It is very important that the fundamental data for the estimation and assessment of local solar radiation can be secured this project. In order to estimate available energy resource from solar radiation, it is necessary to have enough data, more than 30 years In any country. However since we have collected solar radiation(global radial ion including direct normal radiation) data only for 10 years we still need to measure insolation to secure the reliability and standardization of measured local solar radial ion data. In brief, the major activities on this R&D include rout me maintenance of the national network for insolation data measurement, evaluation of the collected data, and reliability enhancement for assessing the quality of solar radiation data as well.

  • Geothermal energy is the natural heat of the Earth. Enormous amounts of thermal energy are continuously generated by the decay of radioactive isotopes of underground rocks and stored in the Earth's interior. Therefore, geothermal energy is one of the most important sustainable energy resources. Recent trends of geothermal energy exploitation technologies focus on the Earth scientific approach to geothermal heat pump system, enhanced geothermal system, aquifer thermal energy storage, underground thermal energy storage, and fluid/heat flow model ing for geothermal wells. Geothermal heat pump distribution in Korea is still in its starting phase in terms of areal utilization sense, we, however, expect to come up with national supply of over 1,000,000 toe by 2020

  • Recently the wind farm is constructed all over the world according to the lack of the resources. The spacing between front and rear wind turbines to construct the wind farm. The wake of front wind turbine has a bad effect on the performance of the rear wind turbine. A basic CFD study on the wake effect of HAWT for construction of wind farm was done by the FLUENT. This study shows the wake of front wind turbine and the results of this study will be used to calculate the spacing between front and rear wind turbines

  • Botswana is a middle-income developing country in Southern Africa with an economy mainly reliant on mineral resources, particularly diamonds. Other sectors of the economy like energy are trailing behind in this country's development. For a long time, Botswana has been relying on imported energy from her neighboring countries. Due to this great dependence, the country has had little control over sufficiency of energy supply, especially during times of shortages in the neighboring countries. As a result, Botswana came up with a number of initiatives over the years to ensure security of supply and self-sufficiency in the energy sector. However, even with the efforts made, currently Botswana is still not self-sufficient and is facing challenges of energy shortages mainly in the power sector. This paper therefore, seeks to review the various policy instruments that have been adopted in Botswana from 1996 to date, identify challenges that come with them and make recommendations on the identified challenges.

  • One of the main issues in natural resource economics is estimating the amount of stock and the biological growth functions of renewable natural resources. Since the stock level is not directly observed the usual econometric approaches cannot be employed for this purpose. The maximum entropy approach has been suggested as a useful alternative to estimate the dynamic model of natural resource use. This study estimates the stock and the growth function of Korean anchovy using the data for yield and yield efforts. The results show that the current level of anchovy yield exceeds its maximum sustainable yield, which implies that the stock will decrease substantially over time.

  • This paper presents an application of optimization method for efficient operation in micro grid. For operational efficiency, the objective function in a diesel generator consists of the fuel cost function similar to the cost functions used for the conventional fossil-fuel generating plants. The wind turbine generator is modeled by the characteristics of variable output. The cost function of fuel cell plant considers the efficiency of fuel cell. Particle swarm optimization(PSO) and sequential quadratic programming(SQP) are used for solving the problem of microgrid system operation. Also, from the results this paper presents the way to attend power markets which can buy and sell power from upper lever grids by connecting a various generation resources to micro grid.

  • Nepal is among the richest in terms of water resource availability and it is one of the most important natural resources of the country. Currently, 72% of the population is electrified through the national grid system. The power generation mix into the grid is hydro dominated with minor shares generated from solar and thermal (accounts for less than 1%). To achieve sustainable development in the power sector it is essential to diversify power generation mix into the grid. Knowing the facts, the government has a plan to achieve a 5-10% share of power generation from solar and mix it into the grid system. Solar is the second most abundant, prominent and free source of renewable in the context of Nepal. This study mainly focuses on the grid-connected solar system, its importance, present status, government efforts, and its need. It is based on the review of literature, news published in national newspaper online news and international organization's report.

  • The average growth in the wind power energy market during the past five years has been 26% per year. Renewable energy resources, of which wind energy is prominent, are part of the solution to the global energy problem. Wind power system and the rotor blade concepts are reviewed, and loadings by wind and gravity as important factors for the mechanical performance of the materials are considered. So, the mechanical properties of fiber composite materials are discussed. In addition, it is necessary to analyze and evaluate the stress distribution and deformation for them in the design level. This study shows the result that CFRP rotor blade of wind turbine satisfies the strength and deformation through numerical analysis using the commercial finite element analysis program.

  • Polylactic acid (PLA) is a promising polymer because it can be derived from renewable resources and provides a biodegradable alternative to petrochemical based polymers. This research aims to synthesize PLA, through direct polycondensation and also tries to avoid the occurrence of separation by-product and the use of catalysts in the process. The polymerization of lactic acid was done at three different temperatures $150^{\circ}C,\;180^{\circ}C\;and\;200^{\circ}C$ for 90 h without catalysts and organic solvent. The proposed process provides results that are comparable to those that incorporate catalysts; during polymerization temperature was $180^{\circ}C$ the molecular weight of PLA obtained reached 42448 Da. The thermal properties of PLA analysis by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC).

  • Recently, in according to increase cognizance of energy and resources exhaustion, renewable energy system is received attention. In particular, ground heat pump system(GSHP) utilizing annually stable ground temperature for energy saving have been attracted in many buildings. However, GSHP system have disadvantage due to increase of initial installation and boring cost. In this study, in order to reduce the initial cost and to supply ground heat pump system into small scale house, an unit-type ground heat exchanger was developed.
