도시재생을 위한 신재생에너지 적용에 관한 기초 연구 (A Basic Study on the Application Plan of Renewable Energy Systems for Urban)

  • Many countries are faced with problems of energy demand and environmentally. Renewable energy is the interesting solution to deal this problems. In Korea, it is planed to apply the renewable energy to 5% of total energy demand by 2011. For this, the government has supported by various promotion program of renewable energy Policy Consideration of renewable energy system is essential for sustainable urban regeneration. Renewable energy application will be possible to make friendly environmental and sustainable city and deal with the energy and environment problem. This study will provide fundamental data to applying renewable energy systems for urban generation. There are evaluated for economic feasibility of renewable energy systems and analyzed application of them by building type as a urban energy source.

구역전기 사업시 CHP와 신재생에너지 하이브리드 시스템의 최적공정 모델 (Optimization Process Models of CHP and Renewable Energy Hybrid Systems in CES)

  • 한국지역난방공사 SS지사에서는 시설용량 전기 99MW, 열 98Gcal/h 규모의 열병합(Combined Heat & Power) 발전소를 구역전기사업으로 운영하고 있다. 이 지역은 경기불황과 수요감소로 하절기 6~9월 사이에 잉여열 처리문제가 발생하여 발전기를 가동하기 곤란한 상황이므로 경제성 있는 에너지 신사업모델 개발이 절실하다. 본 연구에서는 이곳의 실제 운영자료를 기반으로 신재생 에너지 하이브리드 시스템을 도입하여 최적화 운영모델을 개발하고자 한다. 특히 신재생에너지 중에서도 입지제약이 작고 열과 전기를 동시에 생산할 수 있는 연료전지(Fuel Cell)발전과 대표적인 신재생에너지인 태양광(Photovoltaic)발전과 심야발전시 전력을 저장하여 주간에 전력을 방출 할 수 있는 ESS(Energy Storage System)의 조합을 검토하였다. 이에 따른 최적화 모델 선정은 HOMER(Hybrid Optimization of Multiple Energy Resources) 프로그램을 활용하였다. 경제성 분석을 수행한 결과, 순 현재비용(NPC) 측면에서는 기존의 99MW 열병합발전이 가장 경제적이지만 신재생에너지를 사용하여 발생되는 탄소배출권 거래와 REC(Renewable Energy Certificate) 거래를 포함한 측면에서는 99MW의 CHP와 5MW의 연료전지, 521kW의 태양광을 하이브리드 시켜서 전력과 열을 공급하는 것이 99MW의 CHP 열병합발전만으로 전력과 열을 공급하는 것보다 최대 2,475억원 경제적인 것으로 나타났다. 구역전기사업에서 최적화 공정모델로 연료전지와 신재생에너지 하이브리드 시스템을 도입함으로써 경제성을 개선시킬 수 있는 결과를 확인하였다.

  • Distributed generation (IX;) plays an important role in the power system nowadays. Over-current relay, widely used in the DG protection, causes a wide outage section and long time delay. This paper proposes a DG protection technique to minimize the outage section. The proposed method uses three directional over-current relays with delay, which are connected to the point of common coupling. The method can minimize the outage section.

  • As the distributed generation becomes more reliable and economically feasible, it is expected that a higher application of the distributed generation units would be interconnected to the existing grids. This paper describes the results for the mechanical and environmental tests of pretreatment system material. Mechanical Characteristics make differences between parent / weldment, Notch existence / non-existence and air/$H_2O$ conditions. As a result, the life of pipe lines needs to maintain and fit for the operating period. Based on actual situations, the tension test of pipe welding-parts is carried out varying the exposure time of hydrogen sulfide and the fatigue resistance test is also performed inserting a notch into the pipe welding part, being exposed to the hydrogen sulfide environment for 720 hours.

  • The paper presents a method of assessing the adequate tapaclty of photovoltaic generation systems for public buildings based on analysis of load variation patterns of customers. When PV systems are installed for supplying power for the customer load, reverse power relay is required by the guideline to be installed at the point of common coupling with the power network. The suggested method analyzes daily, weekly and monthly load demand of the customer that Irishes PV system installation, and determines the appropriate rating of the PV system for preventing PV generation from exceeding the customer demand. This work is expected to support renewable energy dissemination projects of public organizations.

  • Because of environmental crisis, researchers are seeking and developing a new, clean, safe and renewable energy. Solar cell energy and fuel cell energy have inestimable development potential. The paper introduces hybrid photovoltaic-fuel cell generation systems supplying a remote power load and hybrid system of solar cell and fuel cell considering the advantages of stable and sustainable energy from the economic point of view. Fuel cell power system has been proven a viable technology to back up severe PV power fluctuations under inclement weather conditions. Fuel cell power generation, containing small land us, is able to alleviate the heavy burden for large surface requirement of PV power plants. In addition, the PV-fuel cell hybrid power system shows a very little potential for lifetime $CO_2$ emissions. In this paper shows the I-V characteristics of the solar module which are dependent on the power of the halogen lamp and the I-V characteristics of fuel cells which are connected in parallel. Also, it shows efficiency of the hybrid system.

  • In order to analyze the characteristics of tidal current power generation system, we measured the output power according to the stream velocity by a water tunnel system and a simulation in MATLAB/Simulink. The water tunnel system consisted of impeller tidal flow transducer and PMSG with rotor in the water. The simulation consisted of PMSG, the tidal current turbine, and back-to-back converter. Also, we simulated the characteristics of output power according to the change of blade length and angular velocity.

  • In order to analyze the characteristics of tidal current power generation system, we measured output power in M-G Set (Motor-Generator Set) and MATLAB/Simulink. We installed M-G Set (Motor-Generator Set) and did a simulation using MATLAB/Smulink. The simulation consisted of the tidal current turbine, PMSG, converter, and three-phase PWM inverter. Also, the speed control of the generator was performed using machine side converter. And we measured output voltage, current, power of the generator and the output power of three-phase PWM inverter.

소형 태양 반사경 Cluster를 이용한 태양열 발전에 대한 타당성 연구 (A Feasibility Study of using Mini-dish Systems for Solar Power Generation)

  • This paper introduces a preliminary work for the design of a mini-dish cluster system for power generation. Each mini-dish [typically has a 20 to 30 cm in diameter] is designed with a simple parabolic profile concentrating sun light [after the glass glazing cover to avoid dust deposition on the reflector and facilitate cleaning] onto a centrally located small plane[or concave] mirror which is placed on the bottom side of a transparent glass cover. The mirror with a mini-dish concentrator is designed to focus beam radiation onto a focal point before it enters a bundle of optical fibers connected to a remote receiver for power generation. Different options are considered in designing a mini-dish concentrator to maximize its effectiveness for the collection and use of solar energy.

Optimized Installation and Operations of Battery Energy Storage System and Electric Double Layer Capacitor Modules for Renewable Energy Based Intermittent Generation

  • In this paper, a novel approach for optimized installation and operations of battery energy storage system (BESS) and electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) modules for the renewable energy based intermittent generation is presented for them to be connected with an electric power grid. In order to make use of not merely the high energy density of battery but also the high power density of EDLC modules, it is very useful to devise the hybrid system which combines BESS and EDLC modules. The proposed method adopts the linear programming to calculate the optimized capacity as well as the quadratic programming to transmit the optimal operational signals to BESS and EDLC modules. The efficiency of this methodology will be demonstrated in the experimental study with the real data of wind speed in Texas.
