In this paper, a new line-commutated SCR inverter for renewable power generation system is proposed. The proposed inverter system includes a 6-pulse SCR inverter and an auxiliary circuit. By the proper operation of the auxiliary circuit, the pulse number of the inverter system is increased and the output voltages and currents harmonics are significantly reduced. Analysis, control and simulation for 24-pulse operation of the proposed scheme is Presented and the experimental results from a laboratory Prototype verify the proposed theory.

The growth in global population and industrialization has led to an increasing demand for electricity. Accordingly, the electricity providers need to increase the electricity generation. Due to the economical and environmental concerns associated with the generation of electricity from fossil fuels. Alternative power recourses that can potentially mitigate the economical and environmental are of interest. Renewable energy resources are promising recourses that can participate in producing power. Among renewable power resources, solar energy is an abundant resource and is currently a field of research interest. Photovoltaic solar power is a promising renewable energy resource. The power output of PV systems is mainly affected by the solar irradiation and ambient temperature. this paper investigates the utilization of machine learning unsupervised neural network techniques that potentially improves the reliability of PV solar power systems during integration into the electrical grid.
RPS (Renewable Portfolio Standards) is a policy tool to disseminate renewable energies through market mechanism. RPS promotes renewable power generation by obligating electricity market participants to deliver the required amount of electricity from renewable energies. To promote and encourage renewable energies, Korean government is considering to introduce RPS to domestic market in the near future. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the definition and market mechanism of RPS and to review key considerations in its design. In conclusion, we recommend some prerequisite in its introduction to Korea.
Korea is the 11th largest energy consumption country and 96% of its total energy consumption depends on imports from overseas. Therefore it is a very important task to secure renewable energy sources which can reduce both the carbon-dioxide emission and dependency on overseas energy imports. Among the various renewable energy sources, organic wastes are important sources. In Korea, 113 million toe of methane is generated from organic wastes annually, but only 3.7% is effectively used for energy conversion. Thus, it is very important to make better use of organic wastes, especially for power generation. The goals of this project are to develope the fuel supplying system of Bio Gasturbine (GT) for 5MW-class co-generation system. The fuel supplying system mainly consists of $H_2S$ removal system, Bio Gas compression system, Siloxane removal system and moisture separating systems. The fuel requirement of 5MW-class GT is at around 60% of $CH_4$, $H_2S$ (<30 ppm), Siloxane(<10 mg/$nm^3$) and supply pressure (> 25 bar) from biogas compressor. Main mechnical charateristics of Bio Gasturbine system have the specific performance; 1) high speed turbine speed (12,840 rpm) 2) very clean emmission NOx (<50 ppm) 3) high efficiency of energy conversion rate. This paper focuses on the development of design technology for food waste biogas pretreatment system for 5MW-class biogas turbine. The study also has the plan to replace the fuel of gas turbine and other distributed power systems. As the increase of bioenergy, this system help to contribute to spread more New & Renewable Energy and the establishment of Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) for Korea.
Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS), one of the most commonly adopted regulation for renewable energy expansion since 2012, has the obvious advantage of inducing competition in power generation source and alleviating the government's financial burden. However, the abuse of credit multipliers and the use of national Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) have resulted in the distortion of RPS as a quantitative control policy. Just as no face value 10 years ago can hold its real value, this paper highlights for the first time that 27.8% of total renewable obligations over the total RPS period were not actually met due to REC inflation and the consequent decline in the value of renewable energy generation. In addition, the distortion of face/real value of REC causes problems in interoperability with other government policies such as RE100 and Emission Trading System.
Compared with a traditional power system of electricity providers, distributed power systems consist of power suppliers which are small and demand-oriented. Each small power supplier tends to utilizes renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power. It is because that home renewable energy systems do not need a large scale infrastructure which is required for traditional power plants. In this work we study an economic feasibility of such a renewable energy source. We describe how renewable power generation works and what it brings in terms of economic benefits. Also, we analyze limitations by the current policy and their possible solutions.
This study suggests a simple economic model to analyze electricity grid that consists of different power sources. The substitutability of renewable energy for nuclear power in Korean electricity transmission network is investigated by suggested model. The monthly data from January 2006 to December 2013 reported by Electricity Power Statistics Information System (EPSIS) of Korea Power EXchange (KPX) are used. To estimate the elasticities of substitution among four power sources (i.e. coal, natural gas, nuclear power, and renewable energy), this paper uses the trans-log cost function model on which local concavity restrictions are imposed. The estimated Hicks-Allen and Morishima elasticity of substitution shows that renewable electricity and nuclear power are complementary. The results also evidenced that renewable electricity and fossil fueled thermal power generation are substitutes.

The energy of 97% consumed by our country depends on it's import from foreign market. This article covers hydrogen, fuel-cell, coal liquefaction gasification energy, and solar, wind, photovoltaic, hydro power, ocean, waste, geothermal, bio energy that is renewable energy, and so on, which are new-generation energy sources, increasing the concern on new & renewable source of enenrgy in future.

The objectives of this study are to analyze the energy independence plan and to propose a suitable sewage treatment plant in Korea. The total amount of electricity consumption for public sewage treatment plant was estimated as 1,812 GWh in 2007. It was estimated that total 16 sewage treatment plants with renewable energy systems produced electricity of 15 GWh per year, which could replace 0.8% of total electricity used for sewage treatment. It was found that domestic sewage treatment plants with power generation plants by digestion gas were installed in 7 places and produced electricity of 13 GWh per year. It was also found that the power generation plants by digestion gas were the most cost-effective for sewage treatment plant out of the renewable energy systems based on the benefit-cost analysis.

Recently, the fossil energy and its related environmental problems (increase in PPM of $CO_2$) have been increased. Therefore, the interests on new and renewable energy have been increased as the one of the future industrial leading items. Among the renewable energy, the PV (Photo-Volatic) systems has particular merit at the electricity can be directly acquired from the sun. Usually in PV systems, the ambient temperature and air velocity have strongly related on the effect of power generation of PV panel. So the purpose of this study is to clarify relationships between power generation of PV panel and outer environmental factors like temperature and air velocity. And these types of applications using natural energy are strongly affected by the climate conditions. Therefore the data of this study were re-arranged in terms of non-dimensional correlations.
