DOS and NaCl aerosol particles were used to determine collection efficiencies of a 2-stage electrostatic wet scrubber with respect to particle size. The DOS and NaCl aerosols have geometric mean diameters of 0.1-3.0 urn, geometric standard deviations of $1.1{\sim}1.8$ and total number concentrations of $450{\sim}2,400\;particles/cm^3$. The tested operating variables for the electrostatic wet scrubber included air velocity and water injection rate. It was shown from the experimental results that particle collection efficiencies increased in the submicron particle size range when different polarities were applied on the water nozzle and corona wire, respectively. This increase in the collection efficiency is attributed to strong electrostatic attraction between the negative water droplets and positive submicron particles. The collection efficiencies also increased when water injection rate was increased or air velocity was decreased. Meanwhile, the pressure drop across the wet scrubber decreased by 90% compared with the existing mechanical wet scrubber. Finally, ammonia gas was used to determine gas removal efficiencies. It was observed that the gas removal efficiencies increased when the air velocity was decreased or the water injection rate was increased.

The experiments have been made to develop manganese-based sorbent(MT, MFT) for the removal of hydrogen sulfide from simulated hot coal gases. Manganese-based sorbents were tested in an ambient-pressure fixed-bed reactor to calculate H2S removal efficiency. and a three hole jet attrition tester to characterize the sorbent physical properties. According to the experimental results of attrition test. the attrition resistance of 5% bentonite containing sorbent was higher than that of 2% bentonite. The attrition resistances of both sorbents increased with induration temperature. Effects of sulfidation temperature. space velocity. and $H_2S$ concentrations on the $H_2S$ removal efficiency were investigated. Experimental results showed that $H_2S$ could be removed from 5,100ppmv to 20ppmv at $450^{\circ}C$, and to 30~65ppmv at $550{\sim}650^{\circ}C$ for both MT/MFT sorbents. As for the change of space velocity, the breakthrough time was decreased with space velocity.
In order to remove the pollutants effectively in the dye wastewater by chemical precipitation process, coagulation arid flocculation test were carried out using several coagulants on various reaction conditions. It was found that the Ferrous sulfate was the most effective coagulant for the removal of disperse dye(B79), and we could get the best result lot the removal of disperse dye(B56) in the aspects of TOC removal efficiency and sludge field. When the Ferrous sulfate dosage was $800mg/\ell$, the sludge settling velocity was very fast>, and the color was effectively removed in the disperse dye(B79) solution. Although the color removal was ineffective when the Alum was used as a coagulant, the sludge field was decreased in comparison with the Ferrous sulfate or the Ferric sulfate was used in the disperse dye(B56) solution. The general color removal effect for the disperse dye(B56 and B79) solutions, the Ferric sulfate was more proper coagulant than the Alum. It was showed that TOC removal was improved 5% and over by the addition of Calcium hydroxide, and $30mg/\ell$ of sludge yield was decreased(B79). When Alum or Ferric sulfate was used as a coagulant, pH condition for most effective color removal was 5 in B56 solution. In case of Ferrous sulfate as a coagulant, most effective pH condition for color removal was 9. When Ferric sulfate or Ferrous sulfate was used as a coagulant, pH condition for most effective color removal was 9 in B79 solution.

We investigated the effect of process temperature on removal rate and non-uniformity based on single head kinematics in oxide CMP. Generally, it has been known that the temperature profile directly transfers to the non~uniformity of removal rate on the wafer, which has similar tendency with the sliding distance of wafer. Experimental results show that platen velocity is a dominant factor in removal rate as well as average temperature. However, the non-uniformity does not coincide between process temperature and removal rate, due to slurry accumulation and low deviation of temperature. Resultantly, the removal rate is strongly dependent on the rotational speed of platen, and its non -uniformity is controlled by the rotational speed of polishing head. It means lower WIWNU (With-in-wafer-non-uniformity) can be achieved in the region of higher head speed.
HRP(high rate pond) which had kept the manufactured clay of 3cm-thickness as benthic clay in reactor and the 6 flat-blade turbine as impeller for agitation was named HRASP(high rate algae stabilization pond). And the experiment for treatment of artificial synthesis wastewater containing COD :300mg/$\ell$, NH$_3$-N : 300mg/$\ell$, T-P : 9mg/$\ell$ as nutrients was been performed successfully. This reactor was been operated under conditions : 24hrs.-irradiation and water temperature, $25^{\circ}C$ and pH 7 and agitation velocity, 15, 30, 45rpm and the effect of agitation velocity on algal bioaccumulation of nutrients was been studied with view point of fluid dynamics. The next followings could be obtained as results. 1. The agitation with a turbine impeller blade in HRASP makes clay particle indicate superior suspension effect by means of forming of excellent curl/shear flow in reactor. 2. The excessive suspension of clay particle which is created at 45rpm as rotation velocity of impeller blade of turbine disturbs the light penetration and algal photosynthesis reaction. 3. Efficiencies for removal of nutrients come out as COD : 93.9%~94.3%, ($NH_3-N + NO_3-N$) : 81.9%~99.0%, T-P : 46.8%~53.6%. 4. Kuo values of $K_1$for algal growth come out seperately as 15rpm : $1.876{\times}10^{-2}, 30rpm : 4.618{\times}10^{-3}$. 5. Kuo values of $K_2$for removal of N, P come out seperately as 15rpm : $8.403{\times}10^{-1}$ and $1.397{\times}10^{-1}$, 30rpm : $4.823{\times}10^{-1} and 2.052{\times}10^{-1}$. 6. It can be guessed easily that the excessive agitation can inhibit the algal and bacterial symbiotic reaction if it is considered that micro organism\` sense to preservation of life is relied on natural function of metabolism. Therefore the studies for this matter should be followed continuously.

The modeling of SDR was carried out for the application of the solid waste incineration system. To find optimum operating condition for removal of acidic gases, computation fluid dynamic(CFD) model was used. In this study, the temperature profile of SDR(spray dry reactor) and the gas velocity profile for different models were investigated. In this model, the diameter of SDR was 3 meter and the height of SDR was 9 meter. The amount of inlet combustion gas of SDR was $6,125Nm^3/hr$ and the inlet temperature of SDR was 493 K. The amount of lime injection of SDR was 151 kg/hr. When the inlet shape of SDR was changed, the temperatur of SDR was changed and the gas velocity of SDR was 0.48 m/sec to 1.17m/sec and the outlet gas velocity of SDR was 6.9 m/sec to 7.42m/sec As a result of modeling, the average velocities in SDR and outlet were 0.489 m/sec and 7.424 m/sec, respectively, in which the temperature of outlet in SDR was 448 K.
The blue-green algae which caused odor problem in the tap water are difficult to precipitate in sedimentation basin and clogged the filter void rapidly. The studies of this paper were not only oxidation, coagulation and sedimentation processes for effectively removing blue-green algae but yellow clay and polyamine for verification as coagulants aids. The results of this research are summarized as follows: Higher ozone dose(C) and longer contact time(T) were needed for a high degree of removing blue-green algae efficiency. the removal rate of blue-green algae was proportional to the $C\times T$ value. The removal percent of chlorophyll-a by sedimentation and filter without pre-ozonation was about 75% but 1 mg/L pre-ozonation could increase the removal percent of chlorophyll-a to 99% and more pre-ozonation could remove completely. Though the removal efficiency of turbidity could increased by high dose of chlorination, the dissolved organic carbon was increased. More chlorine dose from 4 to 10 mg/L dissolved organic carbon was decreased. Using yellow clay as coagulant aids increased density of floc so the settling velocity of floc become rising but polyamine could not increase settling velocity of floc though it could formated large floc.

Experiments were conducted to evaluate a experimental model developed for the protein removal by foam separation. The foam separator was operated in well-mixed tank which would be considered as a completely mixed condition. The feasibility of foam separation to remove protein from sea water was investigated. Protein removal characteristics of the foam separator were obtained by batch experiments. To find the effect of the operating parameter to protein removal rate, the foam separation was carried with variation of initial protein concentration and superficial air velocity. The result indicated that the protein removal efficiency was increased with increasing protein concentration and superficial air velocity. The relationship between operation parameters and protein removal rate were evaluated by non-linear regression as the form of exponential function, Using both relationships, the simplified model was determined. The simplified foam separator operation model was verified by the batch operation. The simulation results showed a good relationship with the experimental data.

In this study we investigated the effects of operational parameters of a multi-layered soil filtration (filter depth, filtration velocity, and continuous/intermittent operation) on removal of pollutants in river water. As filter depth increased removal of all the pollutants (COD, TP, TN, and $NH_4$-N) was increased because the increase in filter depth increased in contact time between media and pollutants. The removal of TP and $NH_4$-N more increased with the increase in filter depth, comparing to the biological COD removal which was performed only in the top layer, since the removal mechanism of TP and $NH_4$-N was physicochemical process occurring throughout the whole layers. However, the reduction in filtration velocity resulted in decrease of removal all the pollutants removal due to shorter retention time. Biological COD removal was more influenced with the reduction in filtration velocity (longer retention time), than the removal of TP and $NH_4$-N. Because biological process was occurred only in the top layer which has relatively shorter retention time, comparing with physicochemical process occurred throughout whole media. Therefore, it is desirable that the operation parameters be controlled toward increasing retention time, in order to achieve efficient pollutants removal. The change in operation mode (continuos vs. intermittent operations) did not provide significant effects on the pollutant treatment efficiency by the multi-layered soil filtration system. Our findings suggest that for stable long-term operation it should be considered keeping conditions for biological activity and accelerating clogging.
Removal characteristics of Cu(II) ions by solid-phase extractant immobilized D2EHPA and TBP in PVC were investigated. Cu(II) ion concentrations in the solution and removal capacity of Cu(II) ion according to operation time were compared. The lower the initial concentration of Cu(II) ion in aqueous solution was, the removal capacity of Cu(II) ion by solid-phase extractant was increased relatively. The bigger the initial concentration of Cu(II) ion was, the removal capacity of Cu(II) ion was increased relatively. The pseudo-second-order kinetics according to operation time was showed more satisfying results than the pseudo-first-order kinetics for the removal velocity of Cu(II) ion. The removal capacity of Cu(II) ion was 0.025 mg/g in aqueous solution of pH 2, but the removal capacity of Cu(II) ion was increased to 0.33 mg/g mg/g in aqueous solution of pH 4 according to increasing pH.
