  • Recently, research on experimental and analytical techniques utilizing microfluidic devices has been pursued. For example, lab-on-a-chip devices that integrate micro-devices onto a single chip for processing small sample quantities have gained significant attention. However, during sample preparation, unnecessary gases can be introduced into the internal channels, thus, impeding device flow and compromising specific function efficiency, including that of analysis and separation. Several methods have been proposed to mitigate this issue, however, many involve cumbersome procedures or suffer from complexities owing to intricate structures. Recently, some approaches have been introduced that utilize hydrophobic device structures to remove gases within channels. In such cases, the permeability of gases passing through the structure becomes a crucial performance factor. In this study, a method involving the deposition and sintering of diluted Ag-ink onto a silicon wafer surface is presented. This is followed by unstructured nano-pattern creation using a Metal Assisted Chemical Etching (MACE) process, which yields a nanostructured surface with unstructured pillar shapes. Subsequently, gas permeability in the spaces formed by these surface structures is investigated. This is achieved by experiments conducted to incorporate a pressure chamber and measure gas permeability. Trends are subsequently analyzed by comparing the results with existing theories. Finally, it can be confirmed that the significance of this study primarily lies in its capability to effectively evaluate gas permeability through unstructured pillar-like nanostructures, thus, providing quantitative values for the appropriate driving pressure and expected gas removal time in practical device operation.

  • UWB (Ultra Wide Band) refers to a system with a bandwidth of over 500 MHz or a bandwidth of 20% of the center frequency. It is robust against channel fading and has a wide signal bandwidth. Using the IR-UWB based ranging system, it is possible to obtain decimeter-level ranging accuracy. Furthermore, IR-UWB system enables acquisition over glass or cement with high resolution. In recent years, IR-UWB-based ranging chipsets have become cheap and popular, and it has become possible to implement positioning systems of several tens of centimeters. The system can be configured as one-way ranging (OWR) positioning system for fast ranging and TWR (two-way ranging) positioning system for cheap and robust ranging. On the other hand, the ranging based positioning system has a limitation on the number of terminals for localization because it takes time to perform a communication procedure to perform ranging. To overcome this problem, code multiplexing and channel multiplexing are performed. However, errors occur in measurement due to interference between channels and code, multipath, and so on. The measurement filtering is used to reduce the measurement error, but more fundamentally, techniques for removing these measurements should be studied. First, the TWR based positioning was analyzed from a stochastic point of view and the effects of outlier measurements were summarized. The positioning algorithm for analytically identifying and removing single outlier is summarized and extended to three dimensions. Through the simulation, we have verified the algorithm to detect and remove single outliers.

  • With the recent development of communication equipment, the demand for communication equipment is gradually increasing. Accordingly, various signal processing has been studied. In the case of an image, noise removal is an indispensable step because noise propagation problems may occur if noise is not removed in the pre-processing process. Salt and Pepper noise is a typical impulse noise with two extremes. Various studies have been conducted to remove such noise, and there are CWMF, MF and MMF. However, the existing methods are somewhat insufficient in the high-density noise region. Therefore, in this study, we have proposed an algorithm that filters the size of the mask according to the number of noises inside the 7×7 mask and filters it with a modified switching filter using the histogram distribution of the image. In the case of the proposed algorithm, noise can be effectively removed in a high-density noise region. For objective judgment, PSNR was used to compare and analyze with existing algorithms.

  • In modern society, various digital communication equipments are being used due to the influence of the 4th industrial revolution, and accordingly, interest in removing noise generated in the data transmission process is increasing. In this paper, we propose a filtering algorithm to remove AWGN generated during digital image transmission. The proposed algorithm removes noise based on mask matching to preserve information such as the boundary of an image, and uses pixel values with similar patterns according to the pattern of the input pixel value and the surrounding pixels for output calculation. To evaluate the proposed algorithm, we simulated with existing AWGN removal algorithms, and analyzed using enlarged image and PSNR comparison. The proposed algorithm has superior AWGN removal performance compared to the existing method, and is particularly effective in images with strong noise intensity of AWGN.

  • With the development of IoT technology, image processing is being utilized in various fields such as image analysis, image recognition, medical industry, and factory automation. Noise is generated in image data from causes such as defect in transmission line. Image noise must be removed because it damages the performance of the image processing application program. Salt and Pepper noise is a representative type of image noise, and various studies have been conducted to remove Salt and Pepper noise. Widely known methods include A-TMF, AFMF, and SDWF. However, as the noise density increases, the performance deteriorates. Thus, this paper proposes an algorithm that performs filtering using a fuzzy logic weight mask only in case of noise after noise determination. In order to prove the noise removal performance of the proposed algorithm, an experiment was performed on images with 10% to 90% noise added and the PSNR was compared.

  • Recently, due to the influence of the 4th industrial revolution and the development of communication media, various digital video equipment are being used in industrial fields. Image data is easily damaged by noise in the process of acquiring and transmitting and receiving from the camera and sensor, and since the damaged image has a great effect on the processing of the system, noise removal is essential. In this paper, a weight filter algorithm using a weight graph is proposed to restoration images damaged by high-density impulse noise. The proposed algorithm obtains a weight graph using pixel values inside the filtering mask of the image, and restores the image by applying the final weight to the filtering mask. • Recently, with the development of IoT technology and AI, unmanned and automated in various fields, interest in video processing, which is the basis for automation such as object recognition and object classification, is increasing. Various studies have been conducted on noise removal in the video processing process, which has a significant impact on image quality and system accuracy and reliability, but there is a problem that it is difficult to restore images for areas with high impulse noise density. In this paper proposes a filter algorithm based on partial mask and Lagrange interpolation to restore the damaged area of impulse noise in the image. In the proposed algorithm, the filtering process was switched by comparing the filtering mask with the noise estimate and the purge weight was calculated based on the low frequency component and the high frequency component of the image to restore the image.

  • With the development of IoT technologies and artificial intelligent, diverse digital image equipments are being used in industrial sites. Because image data can be easily damaged by noise while it's obtained with a camera or a sensor and the damaged image has a bad effect on the process of image processing, noise removal is being demanded as preprocessing. In this thesis, for the restoration of image damaged by the noise of random impulse, a switching filter algorithm based on noise estimation was suggested. With the proposed algorithm, noise estimation and error distraction were carried out according to the similarity of the pixel values in the local mask of the image, and a filter was chosen and switched depending on the ratio of noise existing in the local mask. Simulations were conducted to analyze the noise removal performance of the proposed algorithm, and as a result of magnified image and PSNR comparison, it showed superior performance compared to the existing method.

  • Devices such as X-Ray, CT, MRI, scanners, etc. can generate S&P noise from several sources during the image acquisition process. Since S&P noise appearing in the image degrades the image quality, it is essential to use noise reduction technology in the image processing process. Various methods have already been proposed in research on S&P noise removal, but all of them have a problem of generating residual noise in an environment with high noise density. Therefore, this paper proposes a filtering algorithm based on a three-dimensional plane equation by setting the grayscale value of the image as a new axis. The proposed algorithm subdivides the local mask to design the three closest non-noisy pixels as effective pixels, and applies cosine similarity to a region with a plurality of pixels. In addition, even when the input pixel cannot form a plane, it is classified as an exception pixel to achieve excellent restoration without residual noise.

  • In modern society, various digital devices are being distributed in a wide range of fields due to the fourth industrial revolution and the development of IoT technology. However, noise is generated in the process of acquiring or transmitting an image, and not only damages the information, but also affects the system, causing errors and incorrect operation. AWGN is a representative noise among image noise. As a method for removing noise, prior research has been conducted, and among them, AF, A-TMF, and MF are the representative methods. Existing filters have a disadvantage that smoothing occurs in areas with high frequency components because it is difficult to consider the characteristics of images. Therefore, the proposed algorithm calculates the standard deviation distribution to effectively eliminate noise even in the high frequency domain, and then calculates the final output by applying the probability density function weight of the Laplace distribution using the curve fitting method.
