  • Construction inspection and monitoring are key activities in construction projects. Automation of inspection tasks improves the limitations and inefficiencies of manual construction inspections, enabling systematic and consistent construction inspections. In this paper, an RTSP (Real-Time Streaming Protocol) system is used to remotely manage and supervise the construction site without having to visit the construction site by deploying a robot on site on behalf of four construction stakeholders (owner, supervisor, constructor, and designer). I would like to propose. The proposed system can contribute to identifying and monitoring the process process and work results at the construction site in real time.

  • Steam generator is one of the most important component of nuclear power plant, and it's integrity and reliability are to be assured to high level by pre-service inspection and in-service inspection. To improve the reliability of steam generator heat exchanger tubes and to secure the management of nuclear power plant safely, KHNP CRI recently has developed eddy current testing system for steam generator. KHNP CRI have performed a series of experimental verification and field application to confirm the performance of the developed ECT system in accordance with ASME Code requirements. The ECT system consists of a remote data acquisition unit, an ECT signal acquisition and analysis software, a water chamber robot controller and a probe push-puller. In this paper, we will details of the developed ECT system and the software and their experimental performance. And also we will report the field applying performance and the issues for further steps.

Development of Remote Visual Inspection Technology for CANDU Calandria & Internals (CANDU형 원전 칼란드리아 및 내장품 원격 육안검사 기술 개발)

  • During the period of retubing work for the licensing renewal, the fuel channels, calandria tubes and feeders of CANDU Reactors will be replaced, and calandria visual examination will be performed. This period is a unique opportunity to inspect the inside of the calandria. The visual inspection for the calandria vessel and its internals of Wolsong NPP is scheduled for confirming the calandria integrity. The first visual inspection for the calandria is planned in Pt. Lepreau led by AECL. The visual inspection for Wolsong NPP, led by NETEC(Nuclear Engineering & Technology Institute) of KHNP, will employ 3D laser scanner and 3D CAD Mock-up for the first time in the world, in addition to a conventional video camera. The inspection system is composed of a robot with the 3D laser scanner, a video camera and a hardness meter.

  • In spite of regular electrical safety inspection and improvement management of incongruent facilities, over 80 percent of electrical fires were generated in electrical facilities for general use, and the prevention of electrical safety accidents gets more difficult because of incomprehension on electrical safety inspection system, the increasement of non-inspection electrical facilities user, un-installation of residual current protective devices and leaving unsuitable equipments alone. This paper analyzed electrical safety inspection system of electrical facilities for general use and results of safety inspection and electrical fire statistics, and deducted the related problems. Also, improvement method of safety management of electrical facilities for general use was proposed in view of electrical safety inspection system, inspection implementation method, electrical fire statistics establishment, electrical safety consciousness and remote electrical safety inspection system.

  • 최근 원격 탐사를 이용한 사람이 탐사하기 어려운 환경을 대신 탐사 할 수 있는 로봇의 필요성이 두각 되고 있다. 그 중에 화재현장 탐사 로봇은 일부 지형의 협소함 탓에 사람의 탐사를 대신하기 위한 목적으로 지속적인 개발이 이루어지고 있다. 이 로봇은 아두이노(Arduino) 보드를 기반으로 하여 현장에 있는 탐사로봇으로 지형에 대한 정보 및 영상을 사용자에게 전송함으로써 사람의 탐사현장 투입을 대체한다. 탐사로봇은 거리가 멀어질수록 혹은 장애물이 많은 공간일수록 통신 신호가 약해지거나 이동의 어려움 때문에 성능저하가 우려된다. 또한 센서 및 모터제어와 영상 송출이 각각의 프로그램을 통해 동작하므로 일일이 실행하여 사용에 번거롭다는 문제가 있다. 이러한 문제점들은 통신 거리가 긴 동글(dongle)을 설치하여 통신장애를 해결하고 캐터필러의 사용으로 이동성을 향상하였다. 마지막으로 여러 프로그램을 하나의 프로그램으로 새로 구현하여 편리성을 높였다.

  • To verify correct operation of measuring instruments, we request the verification of measuring instrument to the agency that holds inspection devices. This works requires time and cost to the company. For this reason. We proposed "Smart Network Interface Card Model" for remote control of measuring instruments. Our model based on Web adapter, can add, delete and change the program to an existing web adapter from remote system. Furthermore, more than one program can be loaded, and can be updated from the remote system of internet. And also we can change the verification requirement of measuring instrument, hence it makes more good quality and competitive power of instruments.

  • In the field of maintenance of power transmission lines, drones have been used for their patrol and inspection by KEPCO since 2017. This drone technology was originally developed by KEPCO Research Institute, and now workers from four regional offices of KEPCO have directly applied this technology to the drone patrol and inspection tasks. In the drone inspection system, a drone with an optical zooming camera and a thermal camera can fly automatically along the transmission lines by the ground control system developed by KEPCO Research Institute, but its camera gimbal has been remotely controlled by a field worker. Especially the drone patrol and inspection has been mainly applied for the transmission lines in the inaccessible areas such as regions with river-crossings, sea-crossings and mountains. There are often communication disruptions between the drone and its remote controller in such extreme fields of mountain areas with many barriers. This problem may cause the camera gimbal be out of control, even though the inspection drone flies along the flight path well. In addition, interference with the reception of real-time transmitted videos makes the field worker unable to operate it. To solve these problems, we have developed the auto-tracking camera gimbal system with deep learning method. The camera gimbal can track the transmission line automatically, even when the transmitted video on a remote controller is intermittently unavailable. To show the effectiveness of our camera gimbal system, its field test results will be presented in this paper.

An Internet-based Dimensional Verification System for Reverse Engineering (역설계를 위한 인터넷 기반의 치수검증 시스템)

  • In the 21st century, the concept of remote design and manufacture is strongly required in manufacturing processes to reduce cost and time-to-market. The objective of this paper is the development of an internet-based dimensional verification system for reverse engineering. An inspection client can register measurement data at the developed web server. Collaborators related to the development of a new product can confirm geometrical form from measurement data, check dimensional information and mark up the important parts, as well as make a statement of their views through the Internet. The developed system is realized through the ActiveX-Server architecture. Functions of the dimensional verification module are constructed as ActiveX by using the visual C++ and OpenGL. The usefulness of the developed system is confirmed through a case study.

Development of a Sensor System to Measure Real Time Vibro Displacement of Civil Structure

  • A sensor system was developed to measure displacement of civil structure at a long distance. A He-Ne Laser tube and photodiodes ware used for non-contact measurement. This system allows real time vibration displacement measurement of bridges. The measured displacement data is displayed on computer monitor graphically and also in digit. The accuracy of the displacement measurement shows 2mm in vertical vibration. It shows remote inspection of the vibration of long bridges and buildings.

  • This paper introduce the model of remote monitoring system that combine information technology in electrical safety checks that has been done by professional staff. And for general use, electrical safety Value-Added Service using remote check data were presented. In the near future, If demand and interests of Value-Added Service will be increased, this will be a electrical safety Value-Added Service as an important role in the blind spot of country electricity disaster.
