High-Speed IIR Filter Using Constrained Remez Exchange Algorithm (제한된 Remez Exchange 알고리즘을 이용한 고속 IIR 필터)

  • In this paper, constrained Remez exchange algorithm is proposed to reduce the critical path of an IIR filter. The proposed algorithm is based on Remez exchange algorithm and least squares method. By IIR filter design examples, it is shown that the proposed method can maximally increase speed by 20%.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the performance of SDR-based dual-band CDMA system in wideband multipath channel employing RAKE receiver with MRC diversity. For the simulation of SDR-based dual-band CDMA system, we used digital IF techniques, polyphase analysis filter bank as channelizer. Also, Remez exchange algorithm is employed in the realization of the digital filter in the polyphase analysis filter bank. For performance analysis of dual-band CDMA system, we consider power loss of IF signal after passing through channel and the filter. Also, the performance for different sampling rates is analyzed.

  • A method on the hardware implementation of the Multi-channel FIR digital filter using Digital Quarter Square Multiplication(DQSM) algorithm is proposed. This paper describes that ROM requirement can be reduced by using the double precision algorithm and the absolute value circuit, and also execution speed can be improved by reducing logic level steps of absolute value circuit. The frequency response of the four channel FIR digital filter implemented by the above method is quite agreeable with the frequency response simulated by Remez excahange algorithm.

  • Scattered look-ahead(SLA) pipelining method can be efficiently used for high-speed or low-power applications of digital II R filters. Although the pipelined filters are guaranteed to be stable by this method, these filters suffer from large roundoff noise when the poles are crowded within some critical regions. An angle and radius constrained II R fille. design approach using modified Remez exchange algorithm and least squares algorithm is proposed to avoid tight pole-crowding in pipelined filters, resulting in improved frequency responses and reduced coefficient sensitivities. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method leads to chip area reduction by $33{\%}$ and low power by $45{\%}$ against the conventional method.

  • This paper suggests the way to improve the impulse response characteristics in 1-D and 2-D FIR digital filters design. The proposed a Least Square($L_2$) error algorithm of kaiser window is the better than $L_2$ error of the Remez Exchange(R.E.)algorithm.

  • Scattered look-ahead pipelining method can be efficiently used for high sample rate or low-power applications of digital recursive filters. Although the pipelined filters are guaranteed to be stable by this method, these filters suffer from large round off noise when the poles are crowed within some critical regions. To avoid this problem, a low-noise implementation technique was proposed using constrained Remez exchange algorithm. By the constrained filter design approach, the desired filter spectrum is satisfied while some of the pole angles are constrained to avoid pole crowding within critical regions. In the proposed approach, to obtain improved spectrum characteristics or better round off noise properties, the radius of the angle-constrained pole is optimized depending on the direction of the pole movement.

  • In this paper, we propose a new method to desing IIR Nyquist filters. By thismethod, we can design IIR nyquist filters which prossess linear phase characteristics andare lower in order than FIR Nyquist filters. WE derive expressions for zero-phased IIR Nyquist filters and propose new desing methods for them. An iteration process is used to design the proposed IIR Nyquist filter, and in each iteration step a modified version of the Remez exchange algorithm is used. Finally, the propose desing method is demonstrated through design examples.

  • Remez exchange algorithm was applied to realize an IF SAW filter for CDMA cellular phone systems. A SAW filter with withdrawal weighted transducers was simulated and then fabricated on 42.75.deg. ST-cut Quaritz wafer. Excellent agreement wasobtained between calculated andmeasured responses. Fabricated SAWfilterswere mounted on ceramic SMD package for reducing their size and volume. SAW filters were measured under matched circuit. As a result, 5 dB bandwidth of 1.32 MHz, 33dB bandwidth of 1.76 MHz, insertion loss of 13.8 dB and peak to peak ripple at passband of 0.26 dB were obtained. Linear group delay responses at passband were also obtained. These characteristics were good for practical use of IF SAW filter for CDMA system.
