DFT 기반 페이저 연산 시 새로운 저역통과필터를 이용한 고주파 노이즈 경감 방법 (High Frequency Noise Reduction Method Using a Newly Designed Low-pass Filter in DFT-Based Phasor Estimation)

  • DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) is one of the most widely used method to estimate the phasor of a relaying signal. The harmonics are eliminated by the DFT. However, high frequency components, except for harmonics, are not removed and cause an error in DFT-based phasor estimation process. This paper suggests high frequency noise reduction method by using a newly designed low-pass filter to estimate a signal phasor. When selecting a stop-band cut-off frequency of the low-pass filter, high frequency components generated by faults are considered. To reduce the phasor estimation delay caused by a low-pass filter, this paper proposes a low-pass filter whose settling time is reduced. An adverse effect of high frequency noise on DFT-based phasor estimation is reduced. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, signals which are collected under a fault condition at a 345[kV] transmission system modeled by EMTP-RV are used.

  • This paper studies the secrecy capacity for a wireless cooperative network with perfect channel state information at the relays, and receiver. A similar assumption is also made for the instance where there exist a direct link between the transmitter and receiver. Physical Layer security techniques are employed in wireless networks to mitigate against the activity of eavesdroppers. It offers a viable alternative to computationally intensive encryption. In this paper the design of a protocol utilizing jamming (via jamming nodes) for better security and relaying (via relay nodes) for the amplify-and-forward (AF) operation, is investigated. A a signal-to-noise variant of secrecy known as secrecy gap is explored because of its use of lesser computational power - preferable for practical systems. Thus we maximize this signal-to-noise approach instead of the conventional secrecy capacity maximization method. With this, an iterative algorithm using geometric programming (GP) and semi-definite programming (SDP) is presented with appreciable benefits. The results show here highlight the benefits of using fractional components of the powers of the relays to offer better secrecy capacity.

하향링크의 오수신 확률을 최소화하는 무선 중계기 위치 결정 (Relay Deployment Strategy for Minimizing Outage Probability of Downlink Cellular Systems)

  • 차세대 셀룰러 시스템은 중계기를 이용한 다중 홉 전송을 사용함으로써 신호의 전달 거리가 감소하고 이를 통한 전송률을 증대시킨다. 그러나 다중 홉 전송을 이용한 전달 거리 감소는 외부 셀 입장에서 간섭량의 증가를 의미하기 때문에 중계기의 위치는 셀룰러 시스템 성능에 영향을 줄 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 중계기의 전송 전력과 위치에 따른 간섭량의 변화를 고려하여 최대의 전송률을 내기 위한 중계기 위치를 결정한다. 중계기 위치 결정을 위한 조건은 수학적인 모델로 분석되었고 모의실험 결과를 통해서 그 성능을 검증하였다. 본 논문의 분석에 따르면 하나의 셀의 평균 오수신 확률을 최소화 시킬 수 있는 중계기 설치 지점과 중계기 전송 전력이 존재하며, 주파수 재사용에 따른 셀들 간 간섭이 심각하지 않은 상황에서 중계기는 평균 오수신 확률을 감소시켜줌으로써 셀 용량 증대에 기여하였다. 반면 셀간 간섭이 심각한 경우 중계기의 사용은 오히려 해당 셀의 오수신 확률을 증가시키므로 지양해야 한다는 결론에 도달하였다.

  • The transformer role is very important in power system operation and control; also its price is very expensive. Therefore many kinds of the efforts for transformer protection have been executed. So for as, current differential relay(87) has been mainly used for transformer protection. But current differential relaying method has several troubles as followings. Differential current can be occurred by transformers inrush current between winding1 and winding2 of transformer when transformer is initially energized. Also harmonic restrained element used in current differential relaying method is one of the causes of relays mal-operation because recently harmonics in power system gradually increase by power switching devices(SVC, FACTS, DSC, etc). Therefore many kinds of effort have been executed to solve the trouble of current differential relay and one of them is method using ratio of increment of flux linkages(RIFL) of the primary and secondary windings. This paper introduces a novel protective relay for power transformers using RIFL of the primary and secondary windings. Novel protective relay successfully discriminates between transformer internal faults and normal operation conditions including inrush and this paper includes real time test results using RTDS(Real Time Digital Simulator) for novel protective relay. A novel protective relay was designed using the TMS320C32 digital signal processor and consisted of DSP module. A/D converter module, DI/DO module, MMI interface module and LCD display module and developed by Xelpower co., Ltd.

Relaying of 4G Signal over 5G Suitable for Disaster Management following 3GPP Release 18 Standard

  • Technologies for disaster management are highly sought areas for research and commercial deployment. Landslides, Flood, cyclones, earthquakes, forest fires and road/train accidents are some causes of disasters. Capturing video and accessing data in real time from the disaster site can help first responders make split second decisions which may save human lives and valuable resource destructions. In this context the communication technologies performing the task should have high bandwidth and low latency which only 5G can deliver. But unfortunately in India, deployment of the 5G mobile communication systems is yet to give a shape and again in remote areas unavailability of 4G signals is still severe. In this situation the authors have proposed, simulated and experimented a 4G-5G communication scheme where from the disaster site the signals will be transmitted by a 5G terminal to a nearby 4G-5G gateway installed in a mobile vehicle. The received 5G signal will be further relayed by the 4G-5G gateway to the fixed 4G base station for onward transmission towards the disaster management station for decision making, deployment and relief monitoring. The 4G-5G gateway acts as a relay and converter of 5G signal to 4G signal and vice versa. This relayed system can be further mounted on a vehicle mounted relay (VMR) as proposed by 3GPP in Release 18. The scheme is also in the same line of context with Verizon's, "Tactical Humanitarian Operations Response" (THOR) vehicle concept. The performance of the link is studied in different channel conditions, the throughput achieved is superb. The authors have implemented the above mentioned system towards smart campus networking and monitoring landslides activities which are common in their regions.

  • A very fast algorithm, using fast Haar transformation with half a cycle dc-offset free data, to extract the power frequency components and to detect faults in power systems is proposed. For the speed-up, two important techniques are used. First, according to the symmetric characteristics of sine and cosine functions, fundamental frequency components are calculated with only half a cycle sample data. For using these characteristics, post-fault de-offset components must be removed beforehand. Therefore, secondly, a newly designed digital filter is used to remove exponentially decaying dc-offset from the post-fault signal. In accordance with series simulations, transmission line faults can be detected in around half a cycle after faults.

  • A digital over current relay(OCR) is realized by using TMS320C32 microprocessor. Fourier Transform is used to obtain the phasor of a current signal and a 2nd low pass filter is adopted to prevent aliasing error. H/W test shows almost same results with those of the S/W test. It could be possible that confirm simularity between H/W and S/W test in this paper.

  • Large generator of power plant is very important. In order to protect large generator from faults, digital protective relay or IED is required. However, all protective relays for generators of the domestic power plant are operated by foreign products. And now, for technological independence from foreign and improvement of import substitution effect, IEDs using domestic technology are being developed. To evaluate performance of developing next-generation power devices, the study of the dynamic characteristics of the power plant, generator system modeling, fault simulation and analysis, should be considered. Specially, To obtain IEEE Standards COMTRADE format for relay operation test, generator system modeling and fault simulation using PSCAD/EMTDC tools must be preceded. Until now, a complete modeling of generator internal windings and fault simulation techniques dose not exist. In this paper, for evaluation performance of relay elements of developing IED, the generator system modeling and various faults simulation using PSCAD/EMTDC tools were performed. And then, the various transient phenomena through obtained relaying signal of developed modeling were analyzed.

  • Recently. due to the drastic development of communication method between substations for pilot protective relaying system. The power line carrier(PLC) application is getting obsolete. Consequently, the coupling capacitor voltage transformer (CCVT) loses its necessity for the carrier coupling function, and so wound voltage transformer(VT) can be used to substitute CCVT for voltage signal. However, VT has been reported to give rise to ferro-resonance phenomena, so sufficient consideration on applying the VT to line side is required. This study introduces probable technical problems in using the VT on T/L side, and carries out feasibility study on the basis of modeling results by EMTP(Electro-magnetic transient program)

  • Power system fault transient signals are highly distorted due to the presence of high frequency components in the voltage and current signals and an exponentially decaying dc-offset component in the current signals. Modern protective relays have to make reliable fast decisions about the nature of a fault in the presence of such transients. To use a dc-offset removing filter makes relay algorithms much fast and reliable for detecting a fault. In this paper, several dc-offset removing filters are described, and characteristics of them are compared.
