Recently soil improvement methods are using in many ways such as costal and soft ground of inland. Among them, sand compaction pile be widely used because of quiet few advantages. There are two ways for quality evaluation method of sand compaction pile. Especially standard penetration test is used the most general method. However, Current method have problems in that it is not consider the condition of construction site. Therefore this study is propose new quality evaluation method. Relation of N-$\Phi$ is always not fixed but changing by condition of construction site. By through the Laboratory test we can know relationship between relative density and internal friction. Also this study propose revision for effective stress. From these study, we can acquire more accurate and reasonable result than current method.

In this study, the effect of relative density and fine contents(Finer then # 0.08mm sieve) on liquefaction phenomenon in reclaimed land by hydraulic hammer compaction is analyzed. For more site-specific studies, reclaimed land in Inchon International Airport is selected and the cyclic triaxial tests are performed on disturbed samples. In cyclic triaxial tests, the characteristics of reclaimed land in Inchon International Airport are considered sufficiently. The liquefaction resistance stress ratio ($\tau$$\ell$/$\sigma$v') can be defined by relative density 40, 50, 60, and 70% and also by fine contents : 0, 10, 20, 30, and 40% under relative density (D$\_$r/) 50% used disturbed samples. From tile result of comparing tile cyclic triaxial tests, it is shown that the liquefaction strength of soil increases with increases of relative density and fine contents. Fspecially fine contents is the main factor affecting the liquefaction potential. In addition, the liquefaction resistance stress ratio is reduced by the increase of fine content and tile ratio of change is steep until fine contents 20% and that is flexible during the range of fine contents 20% to 40%. Through this study, it is proved that the soil characteristics (fine contents 5∼20%) of the reclaimed land in Inchon International Airport flays an important role in the reduction of liquefaction potential.

In order to simulate the powder compaction process and to assess the effects of packing randomness and particle arrangement 2-dimensional model of rod array compaction using quasi-random multiparticle array is introduced. The elastic modulus of porous ceramics is computed by the homogenization method. With 3 Al₂O₃ and 3 Al particles the compaction processes associated with the porosities are simulated by the explicit finite element method, based on the elastic modulus found by the homogenization method. The simulation results are compared with both previous analytical ones and experimental measurements. Finally, in order to find the relationship between the friction coefficient of powder particles and the relative density, the sensitivity analysis is performed.

In this paper, process of dynamic powder compaction is investigated experimentally using impact of drop hammer and die tube. A series of test is performed using aluminum powder with different grain size. The energy of compaction of powder is determined by measuring height of hammer and the results presented in term of compact density and rupture stress. This paper also presents a mathematical modeling using experimental data and neural network. The purpose of this modeling is to display how the variations of the significant parameters changes with the compact density and rupture stress. The closed-form obtained model shows very good agreement with experimental results and it provides a way of studying and understanding the mechanics of dynamic powder compaction process. In the considered energy level (from 733 to 3580 J), the relative density is varied from 63.89% to 87.41%, 63.93% to 91.52%, 64.15% to 95.11% for powder A, B and C respectively. Also, the maximum rupture stress are obtained for different types of powder and the results shown that the rupture stress increases with increasing energy level and grain size.
Densificationbehavior of conventional austenitic stainless steel powder compacts was studied by comparing the relative density of sintered compact(Ds)with that of green compacts(Dg)prepared with various catbon contents and P/M process. Dg of 304and 316 powders by warm compaction under pressure of 686 MPa at heating temperature of powder(553K) and dies (573K) were 80% and 81%, repectively, whichwere 2 and 3% higher than those of conventional green compacts at the same pressure. Ds of 304 compacts sintered at 1373K in H2 gas has the same value of 84% max. regardless of compacting temperature, and Ds of 316 compacts at the same sintering conditions were 80% by conventional compaction and 83% by warm compaction. Oxygen contents of 304 and 316 sintered compacts were increased 1.43∼2.94% and 0.010∼0.921% higher than those of raw powders and warm green compacts, respectively. In other case, Ds of 316 compacts sintered at 1573K in vacuum had the same value of 86%max. And Ds of 316 compacts at the same sintering conditions were 83% and 86% by conventional and warm compaction, respectively. Oxygen contents of 304 sintered compacts were 0.321% and 0.360%, and in case of 316, they were 0.419% and 0.182% by the respective compating condition. With carbon additions in the range 0.1∼0.6% Ds increased to the extent of 86∼89% in 304 sintered compacts, and to 82∼84% and 85∼87% in 316 according to different two compacting peocesses compared to those of sintered compacts without carbon addition.
Cell adhesion plays an important role in the differentiation of the morphogenesis and the trophectoderm epithelium of the blastocyst. In the porcine embryo, CDH1 mediated adhesion initiates at compaction before blastocyst formation, regulated post-translationally via protein kinase C and other signaling molecules. Here we focus on muscle RAS oncogene homolog (M-RAS), which is the closest relative to the RAS related proteins and shares most regulatory and effector interactions. To characterize the effects of M-RAS on embryo compaction, we used gain- and loss-of-function strategies in porcine embryos, in which M-RAS gene structure and protein sequence are conserved. We showed that knockdown of M-RAS in zygotes reduced embryo development abilities and CDH1 expression. Moreover, the phosphorylation of ERK was also decreased in M-RAS KD embryos. Overexpression of M-RAS allows M-RAS KD embryos to rescue the embryo compaction and blastocyst formation. Collectively, these results highlight novel conserved and multiple effects of M-RAS during porcine embryo development.
This paper presents experimental and numerical research results of centrifuge model tests performed to investigate the geotechnical engineering behavior of slag compaction pile as a substitute of sand compaction pile. For centrifuge model tests, bearing capacity of composit soil improved with slag compaction piles, stress concentrations in-between pile and soft clay, settlement characteristics, and failure modes were investigated with slags differing in their relative density. A slag was found to be a good substitute for a sand since the slag compaction pile model showed a greater yield stress intensity up to $30\%$ than the sand compaction pile model under the identical testing conditions. Stress concentration ratio tended to increase with the relative density of slag pile and the clear shear lines in the piles were observed at the depth of $2D{\sim}2.5D$ (D=dia. of model pile) from the top of the piles after loading tests. Numerical analysis with a software of CRISP, implemented with the modified Cam-clay model, was carried out to simulate the results of centrifuge model test. Test results about characteristics of load-settlement curves and stress concentration ratio are in relatively good agreements with numerical estimations.
This study was conducted to examine the effects of trampling intensity and frequency on the change of forest bed soil and vegetation by experimental trampling. 23 experimental lanes($0.3{\times}5.0m$) were established at non-trampled Quercus acutissima stand in Suweon, Gyunggi-Do, Korea. And soil compaction and ground vegetation were examined during and after 4 weeks trampling. Increasing in trampling intensity resulted in decreasing increment rate of soil compaction and after 400 passes of trampling, soil hardness showed $11.32kg{\cdot}cm^{-2}$, (23.8mm) which affected root growth badly. At the same trampling intensity, soil compaction was high where trampling was spread over a longer period of time. The difference of soil compaction by trampling frequency was not significant below 200 passes, but 16X(every other day trampling) type resulted in the highest soil compaction over 400 passes of trampling intensity. The relative coverage of vegetation was more severely decreased than the relative density by trampling, 16X type of Trampling frequency resulted in most servere vegetational change and difference among trampling frequencies showed significance in case of 200 passes, contrasting to soil compaction.

This research reports for the successful consolidation of $Al_2O_3$ powder with retained ultra-fine structure using MPC and sintering. Measurements in the consolidated $Al_2O_3$ bulk indicated that hardness, fracture toughenss, and breakdown voltage have been much improved relative to the conventional polycrystalline materials. Finally, optimization of the compaction parameters and sintering conditions will lead to the consolidation of $Al_2O_3$ nanopowder with higher density and even further enhanced mechanical properties.

By means of magnetic pulsed compaction and sintering of weakly aggregated alumina based nanopowders the jet forming nozzle samples for the hydroabrasive cutting were fabricated. The ceramics was obtained from pure alumina, as well as from alumina, doped by $TiO_2$, MgO and AlMg. It was shown that the samples sintered from AlMg doped $Al_2O_3$ powder have the best mechanical properties and structural characteristics: relative density ${\sim}0.97$, channel microhardness. - 18-20 GPa, channel surface roughness ${\sim}0.7\;{\mu}m$, average crystallite size ${\sim}1\;{\mu}m$.
